  1. and so after winning the treble with Inter, i resigned and find myself at Man Utd. Kind of regret coming here after joining, they finished 8th last season and will be playing Conference League and dont really have any funds to play with. After joining, the Chelsea and Real Madrid jobs came up but will give this team a year and see what happens
  2. Season 2035/36 - Inter Milan My fourth season with Inter with no achievements in my previous three years, going into the season i was planning for this to be my last here, no matter what happens. In dire financial stress and with a few key players hitting the age of no return, it was now or never! Midway through the season, the board reduced our weekly wage bill from 4.7m to 3.9m which put me way over, and also zeroed out my transfer budget too. We started off the league a little sluggish losing to Roma away in the third game and then drawing to Juve away 2 games later. The surprise outfit was Lazio who popped up out of nowhere to win their first 8 games and by then we were already 7 points behind them. At that point i was having Napoli flashbacks from last season. It's at that point we made our charge winning the next 15 games including a 4 - 0 demolition of Lazio at their own ground. We had a comfortable lead up top and would power home the last third of the season usually resting players in the league for other competitions. Finally, we were announced champions of Italy which is the only second time of this save (the only other time was the first season. Milan have only lost the scudetto 3 times this save). In all my time here at Inter, we had never made the final of the Coppa Italia having been knocked out in the semis the past two seasons. This year we did make the final after beating Sampdoria in the third round 4 - 1, Napoli 3 - 2 after extra time in the quarters and then beating Roma over two legs in the semi 6 - 3. In the final we faced our neighbours AC Milan and thanks to a Carboni double we were crowned champions! It's been 11 long years between drinks for this trophy! The Champions League wasnt ever a realistic trophy to achieve and was always one that I would consider going for when Id move to one of the bigger leagues. However, there was something about this team this year that just clicked and came together. In the league phase i usually rotate teams to focus on the league and hence we finished in the play off spots. We overcame our rivals AC Milan 3 - 1 on aggregate in the play off round in a bittersweet moment! That gave us Barcelona who knocked us out last year in the same point last season in a tight contest. A 2 - 0 win at home was flattering of our opponents and after scoring first away we were safe despite two late Barca goals which made it a nervy finish. Newcastle was next in the quarters and we smashed them 7 - 2 on aggregate. Into the semis we went to face RB which i gave us a real shot to make the final. A 2 - 0 away win first up was backed up by a 1 - 1 draw at home to make the final. Our opponents looked like it was going to be Real Madrid after they beat PSG away 1 - 0. However PSG went to the Bernabau and beat them 2 - 0. The final was hosted at Old Trafford, the theatre of dreams. And after conceding first in the 28th minute, my dreams were looking like a nightmare. That was until we completely changed the game after half time scoring 4 in the second half to end up 4 - 1 winners and conquerors of Europe and winning an unimaginable treble!
  3. Im sticking around with Inter as this team should be able to contend again but right after the Asian Cup the Japanese job became vacant (no thanks to me) and so I jumped over. After managing in Japan, I think the Japanese regens will be significantly better in FM24 then what they were in FM23. Just forgot to update in my earlier post
  4. Season 2034/35 - Inter Milan Third attempt with Inter Milan to win the scudetto was my best one yet. We broke many records along the way including most wins, most goals in a season and most goals from set pieces but the unfortunate record we also broke was the highest amount of points for not winning the title. Napoli were simply amazing and just did not want to drop points until it was just about over. Their first lost of the season was the 3rd last game when they already had an 8 point lead and of course they lost their last game as well to make it really hurt! Finances are really strained, i mustered up some transfer cash to hopefully spend in Jan for the run home, but the board quickly snatched it away from me and reduced our wage bill budget as well as we hit over 300m in debt. Im still enjoying the challenge with Inter and the 96 points we got would have won the title every single year of this save, so will try again next season but that might be my last attempt as the teams is only getting older. Napoli again was our reason for failure in the Coppa Italia as they knocked us out over two legs in the semis losing twice to them with one of the loses being 5 - 0. Champions League we were knocked out of the round of 16 by Barcelona 4 - 3 on aggregate.
  5. 2035 Asian Cup - South Korea Only being in the position for half a year, it was the perfect opportunity to snatch a quick international title with South Korea. We were given a tough group having to compete with Japan who in my opinion were the favourites to win it. The other two countries in Oman and Jordan didnt put up a challenge as we beat them 6 - 1 and 3 - 0 respectively. Our third game would be Japan to decide who heads the group, a draw would keep us first on goal difference. We got trounced 3 - 0 and really could have been more as we didnt have any shots on target at all. In the second round we're up against the Aussies. Second Round QF (if applicable) SF (if applicable) Final (if applicable)
  6. Season 2033/34 - Inter Milan Second season with Inter and the expectation is to qualify for the champions league via the league however after only just missing out last year, hopefully we could go one better this year. I had focused on building depth around the squad as I thought this is we we lacked last year. I did notice a definite improvement and this is shown by the fact moved up 1 place and gained 3 more points, however AC Milan in the process also improved by 3 points meaning we fell short again. We improved in the Coppa Italia but were knocked out in the semis over two legs by Juventus. Knocked out in the round of 16 by Liverpool in the Champions League. So overall, another season with not achievements towards this challenge, but the role is still enjoyable and i feel like we're getting closer. After the World Cup, the South Korean job became available along with a host of South American and European giants. I was offered the Brazil, Argentina and Span jobs but decided to go with South Korea as they have the Asian Cup later this year.
  7. 2033 Gold Cup - Mexico My first Gold Cup with Mexico came pretty quick and the question is whether we will be able to beat the Americans when and if we meet. We had played 4 months earlier in the NA Nations League and lost to them 1 - 0 in the semis. Group phase was a breeze, beat Cuba 10 - 0 in the quarters, beat Trinidad 1 - 0 in the semis to play the USA in the final.
  8. Season 2032/33 - Inter Milan My first season with Inter came with excitement as being with one of the top teams in the world. It feels like I've finally made it and following success here, will be able to pick and choose the teams I want to manage going forward (hopefully). The club is in dire financial status so I wasnt able to make an impact in the transfer market so I relied on a couple loans to add extra depth and any freebies that I could muster up. I've also been handed an ageing squad so couldnt even generate funds that way either. Nevertheless, I felt the quality of the squad was could enough to challenge for the league and the cup, but would find the Champions League. Overall the season was ok, we managed to share results against the top teams but would draw or drop a few points where we shouldnt have against the lower teams. In the end, a loss against Bologna in the second last game of the season cost us dearly! I never really felt close to challenging for the top as we always had 3 to 4 games in hand due to matches postponed and Milan were so far ahead and only lost the last two games to let Napoli back in. In the Champions League, we did better than I thought we would. We made it to the quarter finals where we were only knocked out by Newcastle in penalties. We did get the pleasure of knocking rivals AC Milan out in the round of 16. In the Coppa Italia we were also knocked out in the quarter finals against Atalanta 1 - 0 which was probably the low light of the season as we had 3.93 xG and missed a pen to equalise. For some reason, we also qualified for the Club World Cup but we werent able to get past the second round as we lost to Brazilian opposition in extra time
  9. After the season was out, there were a few good options that became available, however I was still finding it difficult to get myself an interview. Inter Milan however decided to give me a chance after a season of qualifying for the Champions League. That is the boards aim again with a squad this is ageing and a club that is in dire financial trouble. I doubt very much that it will be a walk in the park with minimal flexibility in the transfer market. I am also the new manager of Mexico after they were dumped out of the Copa America. I had the option between USA, Netherlands and Portugal but decided Mexico is a good shout for the Gold Cup.
  10. Season 2031/32 - Aston Villa My boyhood club was in trouble in January sitting in relegation spot and so I decided to join and help them out. In truth, every other decent club had not given me an interview and so was struggling to get jobs even with the likes of Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor let alone the Man Utd's and Chelsea's that i applied for. We survived in the league but we also won the Europa Cup which was exciting for the club, winning it for the first time in their history. I'm hoping its a short stay here and will keep my eye open, have already been unsuccessful with my Porto interview. I dont see a long future here as the club doesnt have the pulling power to challenge for the league any time soon.
  11. AFCON 2031 - Ivory Coast My third attempt to win the AFCON with Ivory Coast after losing the last two in the final against Senegal and then Egypt. Couldnt have asked for an easier group in Guinea-Bissau, Kenya and Burkino Faso. Not sure it's favourable when you dont get one of the big dogs in the group as it could mean that you get a more difficult run in the knock outs. Anyways, we won all three group games without conceding a goal. Our opponents in the second round is Guinea. Second Round QF (if applicable) SF (if applicable) Final (if applicable)
  12. yeah i did get sacked by a few of the nations so i think that answers that question. What stumbles me was that i couldnt even get VNL jobs lol Anyways, all is forgotten thanks to FM24
  13. Im surprised that you're still being offered the roles. In my FM23 saves, after holidaying and not managing in club land, my rep dropped to 2 and a half stars even though i was winning gold cups with USA. But couldnt get any other national job, or club job for that matter
  14. Season 2030/31 - Deportivo Guadalajara - Liga MX Having won the closing stage last season and not having any domestic Cup competitions to play for, the sole focus was the CONCACAF Champions League. However this competition doesnt start until the back end of the season and so we played out the opening stage where we finished top of the ladder. We were however disappointingly knocked out in the semi final losing both legs to Santos Laguna. In the closing stage, we didnt really fare any better despite finishing first again, losing out to Cruz Azul 2 - 1 on aggregate in the quarter final. We started off the champions league campaign in the first round against CD Motagua of Honduras. We won both legs 2 - 1 but both times needed to come from behind to win so it definitely wasnt the easy fixture it was meant to be. In the second round, we again avoided Mexican opponents but were given MLS giants LA Galaxy. We won the home leg 7 - 2 to all but seal the tie. In the quarters there was only one non Mexican team left and we werent the lucky ones to have been paired with them. Instead we were given Monterrey who we had beaten twice in the league. First leg away we won 3 - 0 in a dominant first half where we scored all three. We backed that up with a 2 - 0 win at home to give us Deportivo Toluca in the semis. We had smashed them in the league twice and they were no match for us again here, winning both games. In the final we were given a mouthwatering tie against club rivals Club America. We started hot scoring our first two chances in the first 10 minutes. We then had a scare 6 minutes later however their goal was ruled offside. There were no further goals to become champions! Needless to say, I resigned a week later and will look to venture somewhere in Europe.
  15. Season 2029/30 - Deportivo Guadalajara - Mexican First Division Started my reign in the closing stage with 12 games played sitting in 7th position and we couldnt have got off to a better start winning 4 - 1 at home. The last four league games we'd win the home game but lose the away games and so we managed to hold 7th position and enter the premilinary round which we'd play Cruz Azul away. We kept them to 1 shot not on target for the whole game as we won 1 - 0 in my first away win. In the QF we were given Monterrey who finished second playing away from home first. We started hot scoring twice in the first 11 minutes but then surrendered that lead with the last kick of the game in the 96th minute to draw 2 - 2. By this time, it felt like the team was clicking despite the draw. We then beat them 2 - 0 at home to play Club America in the SF who finished first. A nil nil draw away was followed by a come from behind 4 - 2 win. Tigres in the final. We were battered away from home down 3 - 0 with 20 minutes to go. Changed a few things and managed to score a what could be crucial goal to take at home. Within 10 minutes of the home game we had the aggregate lead thanks and were on the lookout for more. We then copped a goal in the 16th minute on the counter but the scored again in the 33rd minute to make it 4 - 1 on the night. However we went into the break level on aggregate as they scored in the 4th minute of injury time. 10 minutes after the break they were given a red card but that didnt really help until we eventually wore them out in extra time where we scored twice. They pipped one back with a handful of minutes left to make it nervy but we held on to be crown champions of the closing stage. For good measure we also won the Champions Trophy 3 - 0 against Club Leon (the club i declined taking the role) but i dont think that it counts towards the challenge. A feat i was definitely not expecting especially as during the couple months of being here I had 4 interviews with other Mexican clubs but was rejected for 3 of them and by the time the 4th one offered me the role, i figured this team had something about them and declined it. I will stay on and challenge for the Champions League next year which starts in Jan or Feb which is a bit of a drainer whilst trying to recruit the best local talent.
  16. just a heads up that the League and Cup links are showing your FC Gifu years and not Yokohama
  17. My next preferred destination would be to move up north and conquer North America but I was also keeping an eye out for any juicy European opportunities that may arise. I waited until half way through March where both Guadalajara jobs became vacant, Club Deportivo and Atlas. I interviewed for both and were offered both on the same day but it was an easy choice going with Club Deportivo as they had a much bigger transfer and wages budget and better staff and squad. Unfortunately I didnt read the fine print and the club has a self imposed policy where they cannot sign any non Mexican players. Let's see how long i last.... i dont think very to be honest....
  18. 2029 AFCON - Ivory Coast Literally the day after winning the Copa Libertadores was the first group game of the AFCON hosted in Egypt where the expectation was to win it (similar to two years ago when we came runners up). Group containing Angola, Cameroon and Togo didnt pose a threat as we won all three games to top the group. We were given Algeria in the second round in what was an ok draw where we would play either Mali or Zambia in the quarters. Second Round QF (if applicable) SF (if applicable) Final (if applicable)
  19. 2029 - Barazilian Serie A - Corinthians Having commenced exactly half way through the season and the team languishing in 12th spot, I didnt really have much hope for doing much in the league. The board wanted to qualify for the Copa Sudamericana which was only one spot away so surely we could achieve that with plenty of games to go. I was extremely thankful that the previous manager was able to keep us alive in the Copa Do Brasil which was up to the QF stage and the Copa Libertadores which was at the second round stage. With the Copa Do Brasil, we had already played the first leg at home of the QF which was against third tier Sampaio Correa and had only drew 1 - 1. The away leg would be my second game in charge, the first being a disappointing 2 - 0 home loss against Bragantino who were third in the league at the time. Here was my chance to announce myself against easier opposition and lift morale around the place. But it was quite the opposite, we conceded the first goal in the 9th minute and really struggled to create chances. Thankfully, out of the 7 shots two of them went in with one being a penalty in the 85th minute to win the game. In the SF we were given Bragantino at at this point, my league form with Corinthians was 2 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses so not really smashing it out of the park. First leg was home and we created the better chances but couldnt convert any and hence fell behind just after the break. We then failed to convert a penalty in the 70th minute but manage to equalise late on to take at least take something from the first leg. In the away leg we again started off as the better team and levelled the tie in the 30th minute. We then had a goal disallowed just before half time. In the second half it was a different story and we ended losing the game 2 - 1. In reality, i wasnt overly disappointed in losing the Cup as the main thought was to steal the Libertadores and conquer the continent in the shortest amount of time as possible. In the Second round we were given a favourable matching in Argentinian opponents Belgrano. The first leg at home happened to be my 4th game in charge and hence the team were still getting adjusted to the new style of play i was trying to introduce. We only managed to pinch a 1 - 1 draw in the dying minutes of the game despite double the changes and triple the xG of our opponents. We backed up this sort of performance in the away leg but this time converted our chances and by half time we were up 4 - 0. In the QF we were given possibly the worst opposition possible in Palmeiras who were atop of the Seria A. We led into that game on the back of 3 disappointing draws in the league against easier opposition so i was absolutely astounded to walk away from the first leg at home 5 - 1 winners. It was well deserved too! Return leg was a cracking 4 - 4 where we were up at one point 3 - 1. In the semi it was all Brazilian teams as you can imagine and we were given Internacional who i had rejected to join Corinthians only months ago, what revenge this could be! We started building a little momentum heading into this tie winning 3 on the trot but i was equally as surprised where we won the first leg at home 5 - 0. We lost the away leg 2 - 1 in what was almost a dead rubber which meant we play Flamengo in the final. The final was a tight nervous affair however we managed to score with one of our first chances to go into the half with a slender lead. We had managed to keep Flamengo really quiet in the first half but they slowly started to build the ascendancy and equalised after the break. As the game wore on, we were just hanging on until Wendal our Segundo Volante scored his second in the 94th to win the Copa Libertadores! Needless to say, I resigned shortly after and am absolutely stoked to avoid this brutal part of the world!
  20. It's the next season but the group stage starts in September
  21. So after conquering Africa, my next move was either going to be in one of the Americas and it didnt take me long before I was being interviewed. I did throw my name in the hat for Liverpool and Real but didnt get to an interview for those roles. I applied for both Corinthians and Internacional but the latter rejected my application so i accepted 'The People's Team' They're struggling in the league but there is plenty of games left. The positive is that they are still in the Copa Libertadores getting out of the group stage and set to play Argentinian side Belgrano in the second round. The are also in the Copa do Brasil quarter final having drawn to Serie C side at home 1 - 1 with the away leg going to be my second game in charge.
  22. Season 2028/29 - South African Premier League - Mamelodi Sundowns This team came second last year and were qualified for African Champions League so I really couldnt have taken over a better team in South Africa. The goal is to spend only the one year and hopefully conquer the continent by winning the champions league, title and cup. Lofty ambitions, from experience it's very achievable in this neck of the woods. The squad was already strong and only have 1 of the 5 allocated foreigner spots so i raided the continent I've spent my career to date in Asia on some of their cheaper talent to bolster the depth. The season started off an early on we needed to qualify for the Champions league proper. We had to play two rounds of qualifying which were a walk in the park however was a little bit short of depth as my new signings missed registration. Strangely enough we were then not given another opportunity to register players again before the group stage kicked off. The next opportunity was after our 3rd group game which is really strange. It didnt matter as we ended up topping the group with 4 wins a draw and a loss. We then played Asante Kotoko of Ghana in the QF and in the first leg we quickly headed into the first half away from home with a 5 - 0 lead. We ended up wining the tie 5 - 3. In the semis we met Mouloudia Club d'Alger of Algeria where after 50 minutes of the first leg at home were up 4 - 0. We won the tie 8 - 2. In the final it would be Al-Ahly Sporting Club between us and the Cup, They had won the past two seasons and really are the powerhouse of African football. We won the first leg away 4 - 1 after conceding first in the 2nd minute. We won the tie 10 - 1 in what was a cakewalk! We also won the league relatively easily as well. As many would know, there's a lot of fixture congestion and i ended up sacrificing my best players in the league to focus on the cup competitions to ensure it was a 1 season and out tenure. This meant we dropped a couple of games but still won the league with some margin. On the domestic cup front, the first final for us was the MTN 8 which we faced Orlando Pirates. Frustratingly, the final was played during international qualifiers so my much of my best lineup was absent and so we didnt put in our greatest performance. We copped a goal in the first minute but managed to equalise just before the break. We then conceded the only goal of the second half in the 78th minute to disappointingly lose my first final with this team. The next Cup was the Telkom knockout where I lost my second final with this team, this time to SuperSport Utd in extra time. They scored in the 35th minute, we then scored in the 59th and 81st minutes before they equalised right away in the 84th. The winning goal came in the 110th minute. At this point, i was thinking this better not be a bloody trend! The last cup is the Nedbank Cup which we ended up winning against Venda FC in the final 3 - 1 and got the Cup that we needed for this challenge. Im already behind 1 cup after not winning the Emperors Cup in Japan so definitely didnt want to go down 2 cups.
  23. One of the most vital tips for this challenge. I also wished I knew this for my FM23 career!
