Absolutely love this. Can this work in lower leagues or will hoofball unravel this approach?

Yes! I manage to play one match a week on average
But for me FM is a lot more than "just a game", and I am really enjoying it to the fullest (whenever time allows me to)
So do you stick with one version of the game for 2-3 years?

My general approach is not to adapt to a specific opposition formation alone, but to analyze their overall playing style, strengths and weaknesses, and then make some tweaks to my primary tactic based on what I know about the opponent. And given that I watch all my matches in full, I also make tweaks during each match when I think it's needed. In tougher games, of course I'll be more cautious and conservative. Against weaker opposition, I usually start not too aggressively, but watching what's going on and then see what type of tweaks I should make in an attempt to break them down (or to improve my defense if I notice they are threatening me on the counter).
watching your games on full? Wow your seasons must take a long time to get through. take it you're not doing the defuge challenge lol

@Experienced Defender How would you adapt this to facing different opposition and formations? e.g. 442, 4231(2dm), 4-1-2-3, 3-5-2,3-4-1-2, As Favourites, underdogs, or evens?

Looking back, it wasn’t really that good. For the most part it was just stand from other stadiums in the game and you could either match them or mismatch them and end up with a dumb stadium
Partially true there were some original stands which werent on any stadiums you can use but you can create something quite nice. For example you could even up Old Trafford where you replace that small stand opposite the Sir Alex Ferguson stand. That was the last LMA Manager version released as well but I think they had it for 4-5 years leading up to that.

LMA Manager had an awesome stadium builder:

Is anyone else getting this on latest update? Nearly every freekick hits the back of the ne at the near post. They might as well have a penalty because the success rate it unrealistic even between league 2 and conference north/south. Is there any way to battle this? Can i put a man on the near post? I don't want to tell the entire defence and midfield to stay on feet.

Ahead of the Man City V Napoli Champions League game in October 2017 a Daily Telegraph Sport article looked at various tactical systems:
Napoli's Sarri Ball was described by L'Equipe as
"vertical tiki-taka", and is a possession-based style with plenty of short, quick passes but an emphasis on moving up the pitch quickly. In other words: "liquid football".
It will be interesting to see how FM19 implements gengenpressing, tika-taka, vertical tika-taka.........some experimenting ahead with beta before starting my long term Chelsea FM19 save.....
I really want to see a video on the gengan other tactical styles in action that have not been implemented.

I've had zero issues partnering a DLF with an AF and having the DLF drop deep. Are you sure you weren't missing anything glaring that could have made your striker play like an AF? I find it weird.
How often was it actually happening? What's his PPMs? Average position? Have you switched the BBM to his side? What was his off the ball rating? Teamwork/ Workrate?
Also, duude, what sort of a squad have you assembled? I'm not having a dig.
I've often struggled to get the DLF or DF OR F9 to drop deep enough. I think it is PPM's that is required to make them drop deep enough some times.

I think it's unrealistic to have so much media interest in a Vanarama league team. Until you get out of the Minos into League One or very least the championship, you shouldn't get so many questions. How many times do you think people search youtube for the manager of Chelsea, Man United, Man City or Liverpools manager press conference compared with a lower league team. Yes they have a lot more fans but it should probably be tied in with your reputation and your league reputation.

Have you checked when the current manager arrived at the club? I normally see their turn of form coinsides with a change of manager. It's like big Sam's first he at a new club in February. You know there is a 80% he won't lost (my exaggeration).

I don't have the screenshot but AFC Wimbledon used to have a player with the surname "Blackman" and a manager with the surname "Gaye" wanted him. The headline was.... Gaye chases Blackman.

must of been down the pub before scounting him "doesent have any real weakness" the scout seen his hair?
Your 4-4-2 would end up being a 4-2-2 no central midfielders after those two get sent off.

The Mentality Masterplan and some FM basics revisited...

@optimusprimal82 this is brilliant. I've been trying this out.
Two questions:
1. there is a loop on the 12-15 minutes section of the flow diagram:
Can you just clarify this? Are you looping this until the 35-40 min mark?
2. A response to certain situations you instruct to go to the Control tactic on Cautious and then later on in the flow it states to go up one in mentality or even Very Attacking would this be applicable to if you're already on your control tactic or would you switch back to the Core Tactic to do this?
