@Daveincid It's marginal, but I noticed you are using the large db option, even for the small setups. Is there a reason for that ?

Heibei Kungfu - Season 11
Almost a perfect season. We played decisive games for 3 trophies in november.
League : We went unbeaten in the second part of the season until the final game against Beijing Guoan. A close game that turned up as a humiliating 0-5 in our stadium (5 goals with 1,3xg)
Cup : The two final games were played between the Champions League and Super League final. A busy november. Both were closed games with a slight advantage for my side that converted into two wins.
Transfers : Two big sales, a winger and a poacher. Without sales and rewards from Champions League, the club is losing 14m€per season...i don't know if it is sustainable long term. Hopefully, China clubs spend a lot of money on youth players.
AFC CL : The easiest group so far in CL. 3 teams with 1,5 stars from Myanmar, Vietnam and Singapore. We went unbeaten and qualified for the knockout stage a second year in a row. We faced the same Australian club in the second round as the previous season. In the quarter, we faced a mid table Chinese club. We often have trouble against them, but it is still a good draw considering the 2 other teams were from South Korea. We won 1-0 convincingly. In the Semi, we had to play the best Asian club away. A club from South Korea obviously. I was not confident. The game was tough and after 90 minutes the score was 1-1. Similar xg/stats. During extra time, Shipeng 23a quickly scored a second goal and we took control of the game. I didn't know what to expect in the final. It was the first time we played a club from east asia. And Shabab Al-Ahli (UAE) won 2 of the 7 CL. Things went pretty well, and we never were in danger. Shipeng 23a delivered a new masterclass after his 2 goals in the semi. Clearly the most important shaolin player I have got in this save.
Shipeng 23a stats and the trophies won.
Club overview, and best XI. 3 player from the orginal squad made it in the final XI, 4 are substitutes.
Our goal scoring machine and our best player.
China improved but not as much as others. Thailand was the most impressive progression. I think they were behind China at the start of the same. The lastest results of youth teams were really promising for the future, with a victory in u19 asian championship in 2026 and a second place in the u20 world cup in 2029.
4 of my players reached the national team, with 10-20 caps. 3 are above, the last one is in the previous report.
As a league, China didn't improve despite its massive financial advantage. Australia started around 15th place and finished with a higher reputation league than us.China saves are really fun imo, if you have any questions, don't hesitate ! My next save will be in Mexico.

Don't be ridiculous ... clubs and dof's don't sign players purely based on agent suggestion.... these days, all clubs have a level of professionality that includes scouting players thoroughly enough to make a decision upon ...
I have first hand knowledge of a non league club who will scout players for a whole season before approaching with an offer, and that's non league
There are always exceptions. But the trend is defined. I wish things would be different. Nowadays, you can see clubs like Arsenal who fired almost all their scouting staff in 2020. And sometimes the real DOF of some clubs are powerful agents.

Thanks for the help. One more question: why no club does any transfers at all? There have been a few exchange deals, but I haven't seen any actual transfers from clubs in the league.
Did you disable transfers in the first window ? This could also be caused by a custom database.
Otherwise, I haven't seen any issues, transfer wise, in my Mexican save.1 -

Only the braindead ones would actually do that.
I guess they are a lot of braindead people then. It's just business you know...why follow scout recommandations when you can do friendly business and get some incentives.

Almost every club. In real life, scout is often a fictive job. DOF doesn't listen them, and recruit players based on agent suggestions.

Promotion starts in 2023/2024, once you get an average point over 3 seasons. Relegation is effective right away in Expansion league.
2021/2022 => Relegation possible from Expansion League
2022/2023 => Relegation possible from Expansion League
2023/2024 and after => Relegation/Promotion possible from Expansion League
To get promoted from Expansion League, you need to win the final between the winner of opening/closing stage.

Heibei Kungfu - Season 10
We were close to win our first title during the previous season. This time we did it, our first title is the Chinese Super League with the best attack/defense. (70/24). We are a 2,5 stars reputation club now
AFC CL : An easy group, with a Singaporean and Myanmar team. The third team was from South Korea. We beat them twice despite being a clear underdog. We discovered the knockout phase, and i was surprised by the lack of home/away games. Every stage is in 1 game, which makes things more complicated and draw dependent. In the quarter final, there were 3 South Korean teams and me. Unfortunately, I had to play the game away. We got crushed and we could have lost 4-0.
Yongchao 26b became my best player !Cup : A loss against a mid table team. We often have trouble against them.
Some big sales, but as usual, only youths are not good enough for my side or wingers.
Yi is ok with a winger as a hot prospect. Which isn't useful in my axial formation.

Heibei Kungfu - Season 9
We played AFC Champions League for the first time. The competition is split in 2 areas, east and west. To reach the final, you need to be the last club remaining in your area, then you play against the last remaining club in the other area. As a Chinese club, you need to face South Korean/Japanese clubs and others splitted into 5 groups with only 8 slots for knockout stages.
Overall, the season was good. Good performances on the pitch, some big sales, and we improved the facilities. We are losing 4,5m€ every season, so I won't push further the training facilities. I need to keep a healthy balance to not give the opportunity to my chairman to accept random transfer offers.
In the domestic cup, we had some good draws giving us the opportunity to compete for our first trophy. In the final, I was confident once we drew away. Despite domination, we lacked realism and got punished.
AFC CL group draw was though with 3 good teams with higher reputation than mine (the club is only 2 stars reputation). Despite finishing second, it wasn't enough to reach the knockout phase.
Some big sales and 3 players left for military service. It wasn't as impactful as last season. YI is ok with a GK as a hot prospect.
YI is ok with a GK as a hot prospect.

Heibei KungFu - Season 8
I discovered a new mechanic specific to China. When you have talented youth players, they can be called for 'military service'. In fact, they spend a season in a second tier team. I didn’t expect to see 3 starters in my eleven leaves for a season without notification. China never fails to surprise me.
We kept our 1,5 star GK another season as our 2 stars GK, hot prospect from the previous season, was unavailable. Our defense starts to be decent, but we still lack good fullbacks. It's really complicated to have good wing players in China. Overall players are improving and the results as well. We qualified for our first continental competition !
In the cup, we lost our first game against a tier 2 team. Embarrassing.
Some good sales, none of them would have reached the first team.
The kind of improvement every coach dreams to see. Yanzhou 25k is my best player right now.
YI seems ok. The hot prospect doesn't look really good...so I chose to point out the nice run of the u20 national team in the world cup. This is promising.

Heibei KungFu - Season 7
Overall, Chinese newgens have poor physical attributes. I had to change my tactic to adjust to their qualities. We left our 433 MD for a 442 diamond. It paid off as we had a good season, missing a continental spot only for 2 points.
We made our biggest sale so far with 3,8m for Ji 25f. He has a bad personality + winger + didn't improve. Always funny to see the amounts Chinese clubs are willing to pay for ****** players.
YI looks ok. The hot prospect is GK which was really needed. He probably will be in my starting XI next season.
China failed again to reach the final round for world cup qualifications. Thailand really improved, they weren't in the top 100 when the save started. Japan took the opposite path and dropped significantly.

Heibei KungFu - Season 6
We are no longer predicted last, it is time to look upper.
Season 6 :
Overall a quiet year, we are still far away from the continental spots. It was the last season of the remaining players from the original squad. 5 of them were still with us.
Yanzhou 25k improved well and I was able to extend his contract (2y+3y).
We had a nice run in the cup. We won the first game of the semi final, and I was confident we could reach the final. We got punished hard away, despite a close xg (1,3 vs 1,9 for them). I guess it was not our year.
Tao 26i is very promising as DLP.
We are losing 3,5m by season. So we need to sell players every season. We got 7,75m from sales which allowed us to improve facilities. Most of them either have a bad personality and didn't improve or they are just not good enough for the team. So far, i was able to keep our most promising youths. I'm surprised to not receive offers for our best players. IA focus on youths players which i will not complain about. But it seems weird to pay big amounts for youths with potential and not try to get actual good players.
YI is not exceptionnal as previous years, but still interesting. An AM is our hot prospect.
With the money, we were able to improve facilities (ongoing) and JC/YR. Our 30k seats stadium often feels empty.

Hebei KungFu - Season 3-4-5
I am very late on the reports. So here is 3 in 1.
Season 3 :
Despite 2000-1 odds, we did a great season with a striker scoring some goals (10) and Jia Xiaochen(35yo) finishing with style his professional career with a 7,18 avg rating. Shipeng 23a improved a lot, i was able to give him a new contract 2y+3y. He's gonna stay around for now.
YI looks good with our hot prospect already good enough to have a place in the first squad.
We sold well a few players. That will be a necessity every season as we lack incomes. China failed to reach the final group stage for the World Cup.
Season 4 :
We survived an other season, Shipeng 23a is carrying us. So far no clubs seem to be interested by him surprisingly.
YI looks fantastic with already several players ready to join the first squad.
No big sell this season, finances in red again. Here is our best shaolin.
Season 5 :
Despite odds against us (as every season in top flight so far) we managed to reach mid table. Shipeng 23a is still carrying us, he asked to leave if a big offer came. So far no one is interrested. Also, he became our first player to reach the national team with 3 caps and 1 goal !
YI looks terrific, one of the most promising i have ever got. We have already 3 players ready to play in the starting 11 + several back up players.
Few sells, and a needed striker who improved a lot. If he keeps improving, he will be a great scorer.
The squad strength increased significantly, and despite being still announced last, I am confident we should be able to avoid relegation from now.

Heibei Kungfu - Season 2
I had little hope to avoid relegation, with odds 2000-1. Luckily, 2 teams started really poorly, and that gave us a chance to avoid the 2 relegation spots.
Qin Lei is more of a winger than a striker, and he really struggled when it comes to scoring goals. The key moment of the season was when I turned one of my CD as a striker. After that, my new striker and my winger scored a few goals which was enough this time. We spent the whole season between the 15th and 16th place.
Financially it was quickly an evidence, we need to sell, as our incomes are still really low. We got an offer during the summer mercato for our hot prospect from the previous season. We were able to sell him for 2,7m€. That's what we needed, I can finally start my National C license. And well, upgrade everything.
YI looks ok.

Season 1
With odds 34-1, predicted 12th, I was confident. Also, it felt natural to play a 433 MD with the squad I have. Which is the only formation I played so far in fm22, so I guess I have some expertise with it now lol.
We lacked a real striker, luckily for us, Jia Xiaochen did the job from the midfield and carried the team with 18 goals and 10 assists. We managed to obtain a promotion which is probably too early. We lack depth and quality for the Super League. But the reputation boost is always nice to have.
Our key player, and our finances. We are bleeding money as we have a low sponsorship revenue, the lowest attendance of the league, and the club giving high primes amounts despite the financial projections. We need a sugar daddy or to sell players quickly, otherwise we may be stuck for a while.
YI looks ok, but i don't know what to expect from it. A CM is announced as my hot prospect.
Next season will be rough, and I doubt I will be able to avoid relegation. But this is the opportunity to discover the Super League, and maybe improve our incomes.

Compared to fm20, i think fm22 is buggier right now. Yet, you have an overall better experience on 22.

Heibei Kungfu FCMy new save is in China. I joined Hebei Kungfu FC to develop a shaolin soccer style. Hebei is located close to Beijing in a town called Shijiazhuang. With 11 millions people living there, I have good hope that the mix between football and traditional kungfu will bring a lot of people to my 30.000 seats stadium.
I have added the logo manually, but sometimes the miniature doesn't show correctly. Club was founded in 2020 and renamed in 2021.
Odds 34-1, predicted 14th/18. No staff, I will recruit only with annonces at the start. 21 players, the squad is decent. But those wages man, they wouldn't earn a tenth of that anywhere else.

Season 16
Champions League :
Group stage was more complicated than usual, the teams from inactive nations were stronger after the update. I even lost 4-1 to a one and half star team during the group phase. We dominated the quarter and semi finals. In the final, we faced our nemesis, Kaizer Chiefs, the strongest South African team who won the African CL 5 times over the 6 last editions. In a similar fashion than the previous year, we conceded the first goal then fought to equalize. We managed to do so and went to extra time. Not much was going on until the last minute, Georges 32d centers from the right for Radebe 30a who was tackled without the ball by the defender. The referee gives a penalty, Mokoena 28a takes the ball and scores the winning goal. Challenge completed !
In the Premiership, Kaizer Chiefs was too strong this season. Zulu 27a etablished a new rating record in the league with 7,83 over 18 games.
Zulu 27a is the key player that carried us from dark times in Premiership to continental glory.
634 games played with 52% win. 11 trophies won.
Stats/records over the save. Best XI, mostly regens, 3 players from the original squad, and a french regen Masson 24d. Barely good for second division, but tall with good personnality and usefull as CD. One of the 3 foreign players that played for the first team. The 2 others, an iraqi and a swaziland player, took the South African nationality and played for the national youth teams.
Mohammed 33a, the iraqi newgen, has the best attributes as midfielder. Radebe 30a performed really well this season.
Perhaps my second best player.
Club facilities/Trophies won. Diski Challenge is u21 league.
South Africa started around 80th place. They are now around ~27th place. They never qualified for the world cup until 2038, as they were the host. They won their group with a draw 0-0 against Honduras and a win 1-0 against Serbia, securing first place. Then they did a nice run, losing to Netherlands in the quarter finals.
My next save will be in China. Until then, if you have questions about a save in South Africa, don't hesitate to contact me !

Again, this is marginal. I was talking about the difference about the options below :
In older FM, I noticed there were too many good staff available when you picked 'large', so I always played with 'small'.
