Two save game uploads; one after 12 games when all working properly and one after 24 games when I am advised to “Get Team Report” when clicking on Full Opposition Report, Scout Report or Analyst Report for more detailed information.

At start of game a scout was assigned to provide scout opposition reports and head of performance analysis to provide analysis on opposition. All working fine initially with reports arriving and me being able to click through to thongs like Squad Depth comparison of opposition players to my team. I have set Ongoing recruitment tasks for about 19 of my but circa 4 left unallocated for one offs etc. Askked for several players to be scouted and reports duly received. However the opposition reports not working properly now after January transfer window and I am unable to click through to Squad depth any more…. Asked to Get Team Report…. tried delegating then reassigning original scout and head of performance analysis but to no avail. Not sure what has happened and how to fix.

Steady, albeit slow, progress since my last update. My scouts came back with a great recommendation to provide competition for Reece as first transfer window was about to close. I signed Vanderson from Monaco for £15(£18.5)m on deadline day and he has been a revelation. Rated as 4 star potential and performing better than Reece so far; 7.29 ave rating to 6.91 Reece. Azpi, as a consequence, has been getting very little game time and causing problems in dressing room with Pulisic and Kepa supporting him….. I have currently reached mid December and am about to resume the season when World Cup finishes ( Semi finals are Netherland v Brazil and France v Croatia) with Carabao Cup game against Man City! Currently 3rd in league after 16 games with 33 points having settled on a 41221 DM Asymetric AML tactic after refining my initial 433DM tactic. I have decided to sell Azpi and Pulisic and accepted offers of £12.5m and £45m. No need to replace Azpi as Vanderson already in place and Schjelderup will be promoted to 1st team squad for Pulisic. Schjelderup has performed well so far when I have given him 1st team experience. In the run up to resumption of season I have been giving players U21 game time to get them in condition but unfortunately Broja and Auba have both suffered injuries. Auba has been absolutely useless so far and I am keen to offload him, while Broja has been ok but needs to improve his conversion rate of 9%. With circa £80m available in January transfer window my temptation is to bring in a striker as Soonsup-Bell not ready yet despite being good propect. Another option would be to play Sterling / Schjelderup there until Broja returns…. I will have to see what options there are in the forthcoming transfer window. I am keen on trying to keep and develop Broja and Soonsup-Bell who both have high potential so I may look for a short term older striker for up to c £15m. I am not planning on keeping Zhakaria and Kante not getting any younger so a quality DM/CM is another possibility instead of a striker…

Excellent advice. I always create a note to remind me on 1st of every month to praise players with good training rating (I look for >= 8.0) and criticise those with <6.5.

Many thanks for response. Slow progress here as I have spent ages overhauling the coaches and scouts… amazed at how poor the initial back room team set up was. I tend to micro manage career saves and have yet to play my opening league game. Squad didn’t seem to bad and I am starting with a 433DM tactic with Mount as CM(A). U21’s have some good potential with Soonsup-Bell, Casedei and Chukwuemeka all possibly 4.5 potential… which would be better thanMount, Pulisic, Kante, James etc. Planning on leaving them in U21’s ,where training schedule will be heavier than first team who will have higher number of matches, and giving them regular cameo game time to bring their development on. Sold Jorginho for £50m(£60m) and a few youngsters. Trying to offload Ruben too before contract runs down as high wage for his relative quality. Managed to tie Kante down to cheaper 2 year deal and Mount to a long term contract. Recalled Choi from loan as cover for Ziyech if good bid received. However Ziyech playing well in pre season and contract negotiations with Choi broke down after he wanted more than Mount! He would be on more than Kante taking into account the huge appearance fee he wanted…… will play him and hope good bid comes in and then sell! May well keep Ziyech now if performances remain good. Hutchinson in U21’s may be long term Choi replacement/cover but currentLy only rated possibly 3.5 star potential..time will tell. Only two signings so far - Okoli £17.5m(£22.5m) as young central defender to hopefully become long term Silva replacement and Scjelderup £6.5m(£8.5m). A little concerned about cover for Reece if injured long term as Azpi ageing and Lacks speed now. Choi could provide cover as Wing Back but not in DR position…. Scouts looking but don’t want to make panic/expensive buy. Time to get back to pre season now and complete staff recruitment … awaiting work permit clearance for the last 7…..

Just set up long term career save …. Media prediction 5th…Board require top 2 finish…. Hopefully I will survive so that it really does become long term Chelsea save….

Now that the 23.2 update has been released I am about to start my main long term Chelsea save. I will be looking to refresh the squad and offload Ziyech , Jorginho and probably Kante as well due to his age and high wages. Did you receive offers for Ziyech and Jorginho or offer them out/ transfer list? Also wondering if you sold them in the initial summer window or January 23 window.

Many thanks @Cleon for pulling this together; a fascinating read with lots of "food for thought" for me to take into my FM saves. I found the mentality section particularly useful along with the training the eye section with its examples/analysis. Looking forward to FM23 but having read through this playbook I am planning on trying a few things out on my current FM22 main save prior to getting into FM23.
