A big step up. At this rate you'll be leaving Helsingborg sooner rather than later...

So apparently there is indeed a fairly large Polish community in Peterborough IRL. Who knew...

Due to the real life issue last season with Bury being expelled. Edited databases end up not correcting it
Yes, of course. Thanks.

Don't take this the wrong way, but it's actually kind of comforting to see someone (else) get relegated once in a while...

I just noticed this, and maybe I overlooked something in the text, but why are there only 23 teams in League 1?

They may well be in the database, but I decided I wanted a new one from scratch, so they were the Skagen Lighthouse, as it seems like a northerly town near the sea would have a lighthouse.
Wanted to take over ‘my side’ as I didn’t have Danish team, but fancied a lessen seen league, and with the geographical links to Germany and Sweden it has decent potential in terms of growth
I checked and they are indeed in the DB.
But I know what you mean. And it is the northernmost town in Denmark. It's our equivalent of John O'Groats. Except during the summer when all the celebrities from Copenhagen go there on holiday...

Part of the reason for the random geographical choice is that in FM17 I added a club to the database based in Skagen which was the northernmost town I could find in Denmark (via a quick Google maps search). I set them up with a decent rep so they would get promoted (as I didn’t know who to cut from the leagues), and decent facilities, then ran it as youth only.
I always enjoy seeing foreigners dabble in "my" league, no matter what team they end up going with.
Bonus info: It's actually a bit weird that Skagen aren't in the database to begin with. In 1987, as a tier 5 team, they knocked Brøndby out of the cup on penalties. Mind you, this was the same year that Brøndby played really well in Europe and reached the quarterfinal of the Champions Cup. People in Skagen are still talking about that game, but I guess the Danish FM researchers today are too young to remember...

For some reason I only just discovered this thread and read through it all today.
Loving it. As a Dane I would love to see you make it to Denmark eventually. And take SønderjyskE into Europe, should you get the chance... just saying...

All those rules made my head hurt.
But seriously, great start.

Very well done this season. I don't think Serie A is that far in the future for you...

So it has been bought to my attention that there is no club in "City of London" therefore I've decided that Fisher FC will represent that County. If you look at a map Fisher FC are the closest team to the City of London. I think that's a fair crack.
I was just about to ask you about this.
Great idea. I might just try and do something similar in Denmark...

Looking good so far.
Some pretty big clubs at the bottom there...

I think it's too soon to say that. We usually perform more poorly in the 2nd half of the season. Granted I think that's due to the young nature of the squad, but we do have some older heads scattered about now. Just avoiding relegation will do me fine this season.
Absolutely. I tend to experience the same in youth saves. The more points you can rake in early to avoid a relegation battle in the spring, the better.

Great start to League 1! Maybe your stay there will be of the shorter variety...

It's been a long time since I had a result as sweet as this...
Very nice!
Also, thank you for reminding me why I kept playing FM13 for so long. To me it is still visually the version that is easiest on the eyes. I just don't think the new look that was introduced around 15 or 16 is anywhere near as nice to look at (or navigate).

Reece Beautyman - I don't know if he's a top prospect, but his name is top-notch.

Too bad you missed the title, but well done getting promoted!

FC Andorra in the Second Division without a human manager? Impressive!

What I often do though, is ask my Ass man to pitch the match squad for the next game, (immediately prior to the game). I don't stick with it 100% ever, (because he always includes a 2nd GK), but every so often he picks a player not in the Senior squad that wasn't on my radar, (or the one that I especially like), he picks a player slightly out of position in a role that I wasn't even considering him for.
I agree completely. While I normally set the team myself, I regularly do this for the very reasons you mention. Sometimes the ass man (if any good) will see things that I hadn't considered.
Specifically I always do it right after a youth intake.

Always interesting! Defo following...

A good start so far. And a nice touch with the "manager assets". I look forward to seeing when you'll be able to - or forced by the MOT to - part with your almost-vintage car...

1 single green line and it says that it's a Golden Generation!
Never seen that before.
Whenever I see the words "golden generation" on FM, my response is invariably this:

For some reason I only just discovered this thread, but I got caught up and am definitely following now. Great read and great progress. And I bet you have developed a real affinity for a club you probably didn't know existed before - through the magic of FM!
It would have been interesting to see you tackle the Italian job (ahaha - get it?) alongside the club job, but somehow it wouldn't have fit into your story, so I can understand why you would reject it.

Raphael Success. No pressure with that name...
