I personally fail to see how a piece of code can possibly make it unplayable for the majority of players.  We're not talking processing power here or graphics prowess...it's code.

LIke in the majority of code, whatever form that takes, can a simple repeating flag not be implemented at the end of the season (rather than the start of the next one)...has x won promotion?  If no do nothing, if yes give x boost and trigger flag for next highest league?

Now I admit I don't know how FM is coded but this would seem the simplest solution/fix which would benefit everyone and affect (negatively) no one.

Its code that requires a recalculation across the board of reputation and other things. This calculation requires processing power and if it was to happen everytime a club put points on the board the majority of laptops would freeze and not be able to process the game.  Even if it was included from game week 30 for example the processing time every week would most likely make the game crash on a budget to mid market 3 year old or older laptop.

  2. This can be manipulated by save scumming so not sure the point here.

Bear in mind a HOYD develops players from a very young age, so you're unlikely to see a knock on with the quality of your players specifically attributable to a HOYD for at least a few intakes.

Yes they may help boost a player towards the end of their 'youth' development before they're part of an intake, but by that stage a lot of the work may already be done for that player.

  3. I dont think its a bug, But I do think it needs toned down a bit, i usually end up with 2 squads and rotate similar to this, but end up with players unhappy with playing time even when they are squad players.

Does it take cup competitions/match importance/performance of those played instead into account?

I dont expect any player to be happy about not playing, but for them to go in cream puff every other week and then cause a team revolt is far too extreme.

This. I use OIs as at extension of my tactic. High pressing in a 4-2-3-1? Then i trigger presses on the entire back line, force the full backs inside and hard tackle any central players.

Playing a low block, then it's the front half of the opposition that get the treatment instead

You must have the best defensive free kick set up in your low blocks 🤣

But this is generally what I used to do, prior to fm21 when I had to change to tight marking the striker only due to hoofball = goal conceded.

Longer than what? all our itnernal soak tests show times that are pretty much the same as fm22 across the board. (its never totally accurate comparison as league dates etc change every season so you might not get the same number of fixtures etc)

Are the two things you are comparing as close as possible in terms of leagues/db size & match engine detail level?

Im literally loading a save I created on the beta which was roughly 40 minutes faster on the beta...

I'm running an Intel i5-10400 with the game and Documents folder saved on an NVME drive. This is the basically the same setup I had used to play FM22.

I ran benchmark 1 three times, averaging a 1:09. This is with real-time antivirus turned off, cache cleared, and file integrity verified.

That 1st benchmark took me 1min 49 seconds, my cpu didnt go above 27%usage either. Im running an I7-10870H, 16gb ram on an nvme drive too 🤣

If it helps anything my laptop gets extremely hot when fm is on. I have a 3060 with latest drovers installed.

There's knowledge everywhere to be fair. Some brilliant smaller known streamers and some of the well-known names are great as well.

Likewise loads of fantastic posters on these forums, our The Byline series and across a number of FM sites. Plus not to mention the amount of knowledge both within the studio and via our moderating team.

Some of us from within the studio crop up on the odd podcast externally as well, so the info is all over the place really.

Cj popping up on the football manager show is brilliant. It would be great if there was more insiders out there posting nuggets of how things work too.

I know that... thats why i am asking 'How would that help?  If the game engine isnt working as it should... why would changing managers affect anything?'

Tbh SI dont really need to divulge why anything would help at this point.

If someone was to think logically about it though,

a different manager may behave differently. Providing different outcomes on a save.

If you are further on in your save and this data update hasnt affected your save world, carry on, nothing to see it wont help in this scenario.

I have started a number of new saves and intend to keep doing so it will give seperate data for me.

There are a plethora of different reasons to why it will help, my favorite being my made up one below 😅

SI may be considering more regular DB updates and testing quick changes during BETA is a good time to try it out.(speculation on my part)

It's definitely very different to FM22. I think there's still several areas that need bugs squashing/tightening up, but you'll need to approach things a little differently imo. The AI play with much better structure and role choice, particularly in midfield (FM22 they would be very aggressive with midfield choices which meant you could exploit the space between MC and DC). Feels like the have got the importance of pivots nailed in the game. Also mentality choice feels even more about risk management than anything else, which makes it easier to use , but also, needs relabelling. Feels extremely responsive to instruction, pressing traps and OIs, if you've got them right, they are brilliant for you, if not, or if the AI is moving you about, you'll feel it. AI feels more dynamic

Yeah this is all stuff ive noticed/seen, I really like how the new pivots work and definitely have seen an improvement on the halfback role because of this.

Mentality I havent moved off of balanced yet, ive done 4 seasons getting the roles and duties to behave how I wanted and am now messing about with out of possession instructions. Inside forwards on attack I find extremely aggressive in possession and often run through my advanced forward to pass the ball to the gk 🤣, or my cd loops an insanely high pass over the head of his partner to the wingback is the kind of all over the place ive seen, a long with some games where gks dont exist and every shot is a goal.

I think the finished article is going to be great, I just think it needs tidied up.

For those saying the ME is the best ever - is this because it is playing out your tactics/instructions better than ever, or purely from a UI perspective (player/ball movement/actions)?

    [have not pre purchased]

Ive found the ME to be extremely all over the place. That might be a lack of understanding on my part but I personally feel I know enough about the game historically to see if Ive done something wrong, and if Im struggling I take it to Daljits discord to discuss.

But thats my opinion as I have other people who I trust to go to for advice saying it is the best it has been.

So its a double edged sword for me, do I need to tweak my knowledge to match this years ME or is everyone else wrong? 🤣
