  1. I like this idea, I hate the way things are at the moment when things are put in the Inbox, News or Social Media areas regarding transfers for your players. I already want to see a revamp of how scouting and transfers operate and the way information is collected/displayed, it feels all haphazard after years of bits and pieces added,

  2. This suggestion is to do away with the separate Scouting and Transfers Centres of FM and combine them into a more natural Recruitment Centre that better represents the flow of finding and signing players.

The whole idea of Scouting is to:

    1. Find new players
    2. Evaluate found players
    3. Select found player to sign
    4. Sign the player
    5. Sell a player

FM already designates particular staff roles into the Recruitment Team, who depending on the responsibilities set, will find, sign and sell players. It makes sense there would be a corresponding Recruitment Centre.

The Recruitment Centre I envision to look like the following:

    1. Player Search/Explorer (Wyscout like revamp of the Player Search, anchored to the World Explorer, stat based search)
    2. Scouting Shortlists (Manager but also recruitment staff player shortlists)
    3. Scouting Assignments (placement and distribution of field scouts)
    4. Player Reports (Independent reports unique for the Recruitment Centre, not attached to the Players game profile)
    5. Player Evaluation (suite of tools to compare multiple players together or more in-depth direct comparison with up to 3 or 5 players)
    6. Player Transfers (Incoming and Outgoing, historical data)

This would not just be a case or lumping all the same existing screens under one Menu item and calling it a day, but actually overhauling each area so the scouting feels more like a process we and the club are involved in then just screens thrown together.

This is largely an expansion of my previous suggestion and wasn't sure if should be a new post or if I should tag it on to the end of that.

  3. I think this would be a good idea, get the DoF working for us. Instead of the DoF giving suggestions based on nothing, he can populate his own 'shortlists' in the form of the tactic view (as per the Set Assignment or Scout Meeting view) what he sees has his suggestions for each position.

  4. I'd like to suggest a new height comparison graphic be added to the Squad Depth area (or Analyst Report) that graphically compares the height and weight differences for the squad and split into the following:

    • Whole first team
    • Goalkeepers
    • Defenders
    • Midfield
    • Attackers
    • Best XI

The graphic I envision would look similar to the following:

    02-nXMTGG2-1mx7r70.jpg

Style wise though, the player outlines could be the same used for for the Medical Reports.

It would be useful to looking at our own team but also getting a similar graphic back for Next Opposition report or a general team report.

It'd be nice finally for a complete rewrite instead of the same jaded, dated, buggy engine every year.

Yes the UI needs a complete refresh, it feels very dated now and bloated. There are many things that could be added to the game to spice it up but I feel the current UI is holding FM back from being even better. I'm convinced this is why maps have never been fully implemented in FM, the UI just can't handle them properly. The maps in the scouting centre are late 80's Amiga quality.

    Good idea.

Currently what you 'see' is limited by scouting knowledge, where irl you can use 3rd party data to evaluate players. This should be the 1st step, and once you're truly interested in a player you'd send someone to watch them in person. Currently FM does the opposite - assign a scout and then recruitment analyst will generate data.

I have also had a suggestion of being able to browse data from different competitions through data hub, which would be a part of what you've shown here.

Perhaps, if this is too large of an undertaking in this FM development cycle at this stage, SI could add the ability to assign recruitment analysts to competitions to produce this data.

Yes the way scouting operates in FM is a bit topsy-turvy, scouts can still find new talent out in the field but if you watch some interviews with Football Directors, they say its expensive to send scouts out (especially if the player is in a foreign country) so they start their recruitment process by looking for players through data. If the data for a player looks promising, then they will send a scout to watch the player.

Changing the player search more into a scouting data hub, which has the ability to be searched or browsed, would refocus scouting. I would even suggest scout reports for players are maintained within the new scouting hub and not attached to a players profile like it is now. Have the scout reports formatted to look distinctive as opposed to just another player profile screen. The World browse button could also be removed from the menu bar and made part of the scouting hub.

  7. For a long time the Player Search in Scouting has just felt like an interface to query the FM database, and not like a scouting tool to explore the FM world and find players. I'd like the Player Search to be revamped and made to feel like we are using a 3rd party to find players.

In Football many clubs are now taking advantage of data companies like Wyscout and using their service to find players, through data and video footage, with it often being the first the tool they use before even engaging a scout. FM Player Search should be more like Wyscout where we can browse nations and their leagues, but also do Advanced Searches however only performance data can be searched, not individual attributes like now.

    Some key points:

    • Make Player Search the key focus of the Scouting module, and labeled the Scouting Centre
    • Player Search operates like the data hub and only populates with data after a certain amount of matches
    • The old player search has to be enabled on database setup (like Attribute Masking or enabling the editor) if people want to see it still

I feel scouting in FM and the mechanics around it are a little outdated, we rely too much on Scouts out in the field to find us players, where as modern day scouting is very data driven. FM doesn't really reflect this change in scouting philosophy and Player Search needs to be updated to feel more like a real world tool.

  8. I'd like to suggest new reports be added to the Transfer module that tracks and provides information on how our player transfers have turned out over time, whether for incoming or outgoing transfers. The reporting would track and compare the performance rating of players and their value since joining or leaving the club, the league position of the club and the transfers expenditure and incomings. Such reports would give us some valuable insight through out our manager tenure at a club on how our transfer choices have resulted over time for individual players and at the club level.

  9. Just a small suggestion is to add the ability to toggle the display of the match rating in each of the positions shown in the Last Match Pass Map analysis. I find it would be useful when analysing the pass map if we can also see what the player rating was also, would help to see how their passing contribution related to their end match rating.

  10. For want of a better title, I'd like the addition of a special data hub specifically for training that provides the ability to drill into training and represent information as charts. Information that could be charted are the various levels of Fatigue, Sharpness, Happiness, Condition, Injury Risk and Intensity that fluctuate throughout the week for a chosen training schedule and split into the player units.

    5YTE1KU.png

Other information that can be charted are individual attributes and if they are trained through the week and to what level, the tactical familiarity areas touched etc.

At the moment there is a lots of information obfuscated behind the training schedules that could be easily made available through the use of charts.

It also could be expanded to provide charts throughout the season to monitor players against performance and levels of fatigue, injuries, injury risk and training workload.

There is a lot of information in this space that could be better presented and open up this part of the game.

  11. I'd like to suggest a new option to highlight in player profiles the key and preferable attributes required for the Primary selected tactic's team settings and style of play. This would add an extra layer for us to link our individual players back to the team settings and not just the positional role requirements.

Including this option would allow us a better way to assess our players to see how their personal makeup stack against the attribute requirements for team tactic settings such as tempo, passing, pressing, final third, creative freedom, counter, etc. This always feels there is a missing link of information, you often hear if you want to play a certain style of play and tactical setup, your players need to be able to do X, Y and Z.

I don't feel the UI reflects these tactical requirements and leaves a knowledge gap for system and player assessment.

  12. I'd like a more formal way added that as you work with the same staff over a period of time, you form friendships and can designate certain staff as favourites that form your coaching team. When you move clubs part of the interview and negotiation phase is to have the option of bringing your own favourite staff with you to the new club. It would feel more immersive if we can create and retain these relationships as move around during our manager career.

  13. With all the new additions of data analytics over the years, one thing that is still missing from FM is video analysis of matches with visual annotations. It would be good if we could get post match video analysis packages sent to us with visual annotations highlighting key plays, mistakes, buildups, player distances, running speed, passing options etc as an addidtional way to analyse our results and team.

In addition to the overall match annotations, choosing to focus on a particular player brings additional feedback about their chosen actions or observed personal attributes that dictated the play.

Replays in FM need to have this analysed visual option especially when it is used extensively by both clubs and pundits in the footballing world.

  14. From memory I requested for this going back to 2006 or 2008, and a few times since. The answer I have been given previously is the matter of licensing costs for the map data, there is some public domain GIS data they could use for the maps but it's up to SI if they wish to use or not.
