  1. As far as I'm aware, they don't. The main factors are Current knowledge of the countries, Languages spoken, Adaptability (only really a factor if scouting in an unknown area or in a country that doesn't speak their language) and the CA and PA attributes. Personality plays a part too to a lesser extent. Check out Zealand on YouTube if you haven't already. He has put many hours into figuring out how scouting works, what effects things and generally the most efficient way to get the scouts actually doing their jobs for a change!
  2. Nice! I think breaking down by role like DLP for example I might suggest Vision, Passing and Technique. But for a BWM it could be Positioning, Tackling & Strength maybe?
  3. Hi there, apologies if there is a similar post on the forum, but I couldn't find one that was quite like this. I'm looking to compile a rather basic but useful list of every player role in the game, and the best 3 attributes to look for. Obviously this is quite rudimentary as at most levels that is a lot more to making a player good than just a couple of stand out attributes, but I feel it will be a nice reference point for newer players to the game to have a quick guide to some of the main attributes to look out for! If you have any suggestions on your top 3 attributes for any of the player roles, comment them below and we will look to create a list of the most commonly agreed upon attributes.
  4. Yeah this makes sense, particularly with the attendance and income which will be higher in London for example. I was thinking of going with Hanwell Town. They are a team that are based in Ealing in London, only a couple miles walk from Wembley Stadium. Founded over 100 years ago by some railway workers from Newcastle and they have kept that those links to Newcastle to this day. Black and White kits, call themselves The Geordies and Hanwell Toon that kind of thing. They also have a strong youth development policy IRL with dozens of youth teams at all different levels. Now though, I'm not so sure if I want to as being out in the rural area would add a different element of difficulty I guess. Hmm I'll keep looking at other options ad see if any others resonate with me more before I dive in!!
  5. It definitely puts the challenge into perspective and I'm looking forward to it! On a side note, would people here say that it is more challenging starting with a team in a big city with lots of clubs soaking up the youth (e.g London) or more of a challenge in an area with less population and overall less youth players available (somewhere like Cornwall for example) On the face of it I would expect more of a challenge in the more rural area, but I can also imagine that any half decent youth prospects from a London based non-league team will be swiftly snapped up by Arsenal/Chelsea/Spurs instead of joining your teams academy...
  6. I feel this is a good suggestion as a PPM as opposed to a player/team instruction as such. Having it ingrained in the players style, similar to "winds up opponents" or "argues with officials"... a more personality based PPM maybe
  7. OK great advice thanks! Regarding the Leagues, starting in England will likely give me the most familiarity even though it is the biggest pyramid! Don't expect to complete it could be exactly what I needed to hear! That could be where I've stalled before, having a sudden realization how long it would take. If I go in with the mindset of it being a journey as you say and not expect to get to the top then it could very well set me up to have a great save! Thanks!
  8. A number of times you may have an offer accepted and then the player point blank refuses to talk to you. We can safely assume this is because your reputation compared to the players reputation is too small and to a degree it does make sense. However, I cant image that many times in real life, a club would accept an offer and then the we, as the "buying" club, have zero dialoged with the player, apart from the equivalent of a 'Text Message' saying he has no interest in our club and we, as the buying club, don't reply to this... I feel it would be a good feature to add a button BEFORE the offer contract screen where you can discuss the potential move to the player. This could also be used to incorporate the already implemented contract 'Promises' prior to the contract being negotiated. An aspect of this Conversation could be to convince a player of your ambition/goals ect which would act 2-fold in installing Promises into the contract that we already do, but also for the manager to have a chance of increasing the likelihood that the player would actually want a contact. The conversation could also have an effect on desired wages and other things too. For example if the conversation goes well, the player might think "I like this manager and the club vision looks better than I thought!" so they might be inclined to accept a slightly lower payment package when it comes down to negotiating this in the near future. On the other hand it could have a negative affect, which might not mean they lose all interest, but they might think "I'm not convinced entirely on this guy but it still seems like a good move" which might cause them to request higher payment then they might previously have accepted! Alternatively, to an extreme you could have a down right TERRIBLE conversation and make a player that was previously interested, now run for the door and not want to see a contract offer from you. All of these conversations effectiveness could be dictated by the managers Mental Attributes, much like these attributes have an effect when you talk to your current players at the moment. Not only do I feel this is a good feature for those times that players would point blank refuse to talk to you in the past, but it could be a great OPTIONAL feature for every transfer that is accepted, BEFORE you talk money. I'm no expert, but I can imagine that often times in real life the player will speak with the club (in some capacity) in a more informal setting after the transfer fee is agreed and before they sit down and talk contract. This Conversation feature would be that more informal setting. Logistically how it could work in FM is: Offer Accepted by Selling Club Buying Club has Conversation with Player (& Agent) to discuss club vision and potential contract promises Buying Club Offers Contract. So directly after you have had this conversation (or declined it) you then have another inbox item to offer and negotiate the contract
  9. Hi everyone! I'm going to be doing this challenge in FM23 as my main Long term save! I am going to be starting in England. I have made a few half-hearted attempts at the challenge in previous years but never gave it my full focus until now! I'm looking for your top tips if you have any? Things you feel are important tips to know when going into the challenge!
  10. I set up my training with various weekly schedules throughout the season. I tend to set up my schedules as follows: Pre season, multiple schedules for regular season which usually rotate through 4 slightly different regimes, and close season training I tend to set this up at the very start of the season and then make tweaks as I go through the season for example if I have a double match week or for other reason. Clicking through week after week, and then having to do the same for the Reserves and the U18s takes a long time. It would be great if you could select a schedule you want to implement and then have a list of all the weeks in the season with check boxes next to them that you can select for the weeks want to assign this schedule to and then click confirm. Its a minor thing but I feel a lot of people that like to do their own training would benefit from this usability change and would make it slightly more user friendly to encourage more people to do their own training
