    Very usefule explaination. Thanks.

But in my practice in FMM2024, my prefer defense set-up is "Defensive line -  Deep" + "Closing Down - All Over", which is very to the contrary.

"Defensive line -  Deep" will make my defenders (back 4) sit back more to avoid counterattacking.

"Closing Down - All Over" will make my front attackers to press opponent defenders.

Depends on the attackers, I think. I can try to tell Vini or Rodrygo or Joselu to press all I want, and they will ignore it most of the time 😄.

This may be a silly question, and I could be missing something obvious, but I can’t see what the ‘warning’ sign means in the dynamics screen - See Hlozek and Grimaldo, for examples.

I thought initially it may be an unhappy sign, as Grimaldo is currently unhappy, but Hlozek is happy, good morale and no negatives in ‘Personal’ screen - so I’m back to square one.

Would be great if anyone knows and could confirm :)

I've once thought that, too. Turns out it's just what it is: basically some kind of warning "Don't mess with this guy" 😄.

That's perfectly fine to say and I realize that our descriptions and 'blurbs' in the main are much abbreviated over the PC games equivalents ... just to explain why:
    * FMM does scale somewhat depending onn the device size, but even on larger devices we avoid small text because it can be hard on peoples eyes on a small screen (and also remember 20% of the population has sub 20-20 eyesight which is quite a large proportion).
    * The game is intended to be played at a faster and more casual pace than the PC game, so some text (notably news items) is left shorter and punchier so people can whiz through it quickly without slowing down their gameplay experience.

I'm perfectly fine with letters, fonts, sizes literally 👍. It's the content of descriptions in every role or tactic settings etc that I need to be more concrete.

Yeah the reason I try and avoid that is that not everything in the game works through simple settings because some of the roles are quite complicated (ie. not everything is a pre-set slider position, something involve bespoke AI for the role/position in question).
So as a word of warning the potential 'customizable roles' mentioned below might be slightly more restrictive/less flexible in nature than those we provide within the game normally and obviously those custom roles wouldn't also be easily used by the AI.

Yeah pretty much but packaged in a way where people could share roles they'd made and people who want to play a simple game can just use the pre-given roles without worrying about minutae (and do please understand this will be a long-term thing, ie. please don't expect it for a while, probably a couple of versions away).

Ah I see... I can understand the reasonings.

In the end, all I need may not more than just clearer ways to "translate" what I have in mind, into correct sets of notches and options. I'm sorry, but I think the current descriptions of settings are just not cut it. Maybe I'm just being too spoiled with numerous ways to learn the "language" in PC version I've played years ago, so anything in mobile version feels inadequate. Sorry for that 😄.

I tend to try and avoid this sort of 'clear cut' explanation because that isn't precisely how the game works - but I'll have a think about potentially adding a little more explanation along these lines in a future version.

I understood what you're trying to do. "Clear cut" descriptions could feel so inhumane, overly mathematics. But I also think that mobile players need much better "manual" to operate your "factory presets" properly and more precisely.

we're trying to keep things relatively simple, I might 'however' allow people to setup some 'customised' roles where they setup specific instructions and then assign them to it ... that would be a long-term thing however (ie. probably not next version of the game, but perhaps the one after that .. would that be something you'd be interested in as a compromise?).

You mean, customizations similar to what we had in Sliders era, where some people can choose to use simplified "presets" (roles/instructions/etc) if that's what they'd like, while some others can use the more precise, but more complicated "sliders"?

I was wondering about what each setting does?

For example if i play a high line with pressing in own half - what happens? Do my strikers just let the defenders past them without doing anything? And if i choose sit-back with high line - does this mean my players just watch the ball without actually tackling?

I simplify the understanding by imagining that every player has circle around him, and that circle is his zone of responsibilities. The lower the press setting, the smaller the circle would be.

With that picture in our mind, no... your players won't always just watch the ball. They will still do something to harass the opponents (pressing/tackling/contesting/etc) AS LONG AS the opponents are INSIDE their zones.

  7. Could we expect to have more literal descriptions of roles, instead of current, unclear, abstract descriptions before FMM25?

I mean like in original FM, where we can see that role A shoots more than pass, and B pass more than shoot, or role C more likely to pass than cross and D more likely to cross than pass, or role E more likely to dribble while F more likely to run into space to receive through balls... And so on, you name it.

Or better, could we expect to have detailed personal instructions, instead of more general, team based ones?

And this budget shows you how unrealistic is this game. Something needs to be done with the amount of money clubs get each season. Coz in 3 season you can build galacticos with every bigger club in the world.

Well, I exclusively play with Real Madrid, and having 200M in season 2 still gave me only one or two great players (I don't consider Hakimi or Araujo a Galactico, btw) if I'm lucky. So, nah... Building Galacticos in just 3 season is a nonsense.

Can you please let us know whether the device you're transferring from is iOS or Android, and let us know the same for the device you're transferring to?

Oh, I mean I don't need to transfer anything to anywhere at the moment. I just wanna know if I really can to save my game up in the cloud, just in case someday I need to.

I'm Android user, so it would only happen between older Android device to newer one.

    Hi all

I have a career on a phone that's now smashed up, so I've got a new phone and downloaded FM24 and want to move my career onto new phone.

I've saved it to 'cloud' but it's just not appearing on my new phone even though it's my same iphone login and cloud.

Anyone know if I can do this and how?

    Thanks!

How can I put my saves on cloud?

Agreed - This would be a good introduction to the game.

Yeah. Mainly because we don't have personal instruction in FMM24. If we have it, maybe I don't need (for example) "cuts inside" trait, because I could simply tell them "cut inside more". Or the other way around (they have one trait, and I tell them not to do it too often with specific, personal instruction).

@Blancos I understand that but coaches who prefer a specific formation will perform better.

I understood. But YOU are basically the tactical coach here. It's YOU who teach the team about what you want them to do, not the other coaches.

To my understanding, the preferred formation is just a note, about what formation the coach will likely choose IF he/she is in your shoes. It's merely about preference. Having one preferred formation, doesn't mean that the coaches don't / can't teach another. I, for example, might have two preferred formations a season (based on who play; the 1st XI or the 2nd), and another different formations the next season. Which one do I prefer, doesn't say much anymore.

Moreover, don't forget that having SIMILAR preferred formation doesn't mean that you both will teach the SAME things, since there are much more things to implement for a tactic to work, outside of formation diagram. YOUR formation is the key here, not your coaches' preferences.

Those are based entirely on stats/hidden stats iirc, so the easy answer is no, but you could try to investigate which traits are linked to which stats to train them and try to make a particular trait pop up, but i dont see too much sense in doing it. I think traits are useful mostly to know some extra info on hidden stats, you could know if inside of a mediocre shooting stat you have a high value on definition or longshots, for example.

I saw a thread that we can't do that in FMM23. I just think that maybe SI somehow can give us that capability in the 24. Maybe through Focus Role training, or Mentoring, I don't know. But I certainly like to have the way to train-in some traits we need, or train-out some we don't need according to our specific tactics.😁

Thats interesting - An extreme example, if a Forward was happy to retrain to be a centre back, they would start to focus on Positioning, decisions, tackling, aerial etc?

That's my assumption. That's why I try to train all of my Forwards in CF focus role, even when I mostly put them as AF in the actual matches, because CF focus training is more diverse than the AF one 😁.

(they will also develop in other areas, but these attributes will be the main focus).

There it is. Thank you for shedding some lights into that 🙏.

If they are not already  (so keep in mind that just because you ask a player to learn a new role, doesn't mean that they will be successful, or be happy about it).

Well, how can we know? I mean, we have indicator of how a player feel about particular positions on the pitch, but we don't have one to check how they feel about their Role. All we have is "Recommended" note.

Ah, while we're at this, did you guys check the bug out I've reported here:  https://community.sigames.com/bugtracker/football-manager-2024-mobile-bugs-tracker/gameplay/players-role-shown-doesnt-suit-my-chosen-setting-r20695/

It would be nice to read straightaway from Profile page about how my Focus Role training doing to the players.
