Look Henderson isn’t the RIGHT change but bringing Henderson on is better than keeping how it is.

I don’t mind Henderson coming on as our midfield is playing like they have no idea where to stand or when to press.
but the idea he should be the only sub, or even the first one, is crazy

Imo, they should change the rule.
5 subs, but only 3 allowed in the second half. So you either use two at half time or you lose them.
I quite like that. Maybe just one at half time. So you get 4 over 3 breaks in play, and an extra one at half time if you want

From what I can tell, Bellingham has dropped into the actual midfield with Rice now, and Mount into number 10. Which has to be better

I think this idea of being “patient” when you’re playing **** is out of date now you can use 5 subs. It’s pretty difficult to “waste” a sub now.

On that latest “attack”, Bellingham, Saka and Kane all ran into the exact same space

Scenes when Walker comes on for Saka and we go 3-5-2

Neville Keane and Wright all agreed no subs needed and that changing would mean panic.
it’s stupid at the least

You can make changes at half time that are considered and reasoned rather than panic
Especially, I’ll add, when you can use 5 subs over 4 breaks in play (if you use half time)

I'm sure @Rob1981 knows the maths better than I, but it's very difficult for us not to qualify if we draw tonight. Think we'd have to lose to Wales 3-0 or something.
4-0

No need to panic just yet. Would bring on a foden or a Grealish to come get the ball a bit deeper to try and make it easier to break through their shape
This is the problem. Even Bellingham is playing in this weird “wide number 10” type role on the other side Mount is doing the same. We seem to have a back 5 and a front 5, and it’s making us so easy to play through and so hard to play out

Bellingham into midfield alongside Rice
Foden on for Mount in the 10.
Rashford on for Sterling on the left.

This performance is exactly why I wasn’t enjoying the collective English social media chuckling about wales earlier. We aren’t good enough to assume we are out of this group. Genuinely

Bellingham really needs to be in alongside Rice to help him out a bit. Not bellinghams fault. But both him and Mount are playing in positions that the ball ain’t going to

They’re just passing it around our midfield at ease.

I think the game plan is to play it around until the Americans press and then play through. Except the Americans aren’t pressing as high as we were expecting and we’ve been unable or incapable to change approach on the fly
it just feels, genuinely, like Southgate is hoping we get to 0-0 At half time

It’s overcoached nonsense from England this.
just play football and **** them up ffs. We don’t need to win a tactical battle.

Why did we need 3 players to take THAT free kick?
0 -
Foden and Rashford on to speed things up a bit
lt currently feels like a team that want to slow everything down until we can stand still

That’s embarrassing Mason

I loved the line just now “Mason Mount having to move to show for the ball”.
no ****

Tripper been brilliant all season and deservedly starting but he’s seemed a bit off pace so far?

What?
I'm looking at it based on the fact that England are good and Wales are ****. That combination rarely, if ever, leads to a 4 goal loss for the good team.
Yes - but you were responding to me saying Wales won't beat anybody, whereas my entire post was looking at the welsh perspective, and how much that second goal tonight may end up affecting how they approach the final game
They're not sitting in their camp thinking "we will never beat England"
However if they'd lost today 1-0, they'd only need to beat us by 3. But because they lost 2-0, they have to beat us by 4. (this is assuming we draw tonight).
My point was purely that going into a match knowing you have to win is one thing, but even if they found themselves 2-0 up, they'd know they'd need 2 more goals, which is going to feel impossible.
SO whilst that 2nd goal tonight is mostly irrelevant, it may end up making their last match feel even harder.

He’s been poor tonight. Out of position and seemingly unaware where to go and when to press.
Almost certainly not his fault tho
