Will there be crowds for England's warm up games?
I’ve not seen anything about tickets yet but shouldn’t be any reason why not. Covid roadmap says they can have punters after May 17th so 25% capacity would be about 8,000 or so.

Had no idea we're playing England on June 6th.
Delayed from last summer, England have rescheduled the same two warm up games. Playing at Middlesbrough though instead of Villa Park.

France or Italy. Winners of Groups A and F have an advantage in not having to meet another group winner until the semis.
Stupid 24 team format.

PAUL THE OCTOPUS
Actually a brilliant brilliant tournament. Unfairly criticised.

Haha, the "Capello Index" as well
When he put his name to a commercial sports data product that basically said half of the England players were terrible

Christ, I'd also blocked out Sven Goran Eriksson in this Ivory Coast jacket

Not sure how this has turned into the 2010 Nostalgia Thread already
Sorry everyone.

Also I think that was the tournament with the Sun front page - "HAVANA LAUGH!"
They crept up on them all with the long lens while they were smoking in the airport... HOW DARE THEY ENJOY CIGARS WHEN THEY HAVEN'T WON IT FOR US?!
Laying into people like Stephen Warnock who never even got off the bench.

Oh god, I totally forgot Heskey injuring Ferdinand in training before the tournament had even started
Capello trying to call Scholes up the week before even though he hadn't played for England for six years
Then Carragher coming out of retirement, but then retiring again the day that the squad got home.
And the squad release descending into farce because Twitter was a new thing at the time and the players were all tweeting that they were in/out before the official announcement

"Nice to hear your own fans booing you" also a great England moment
That whole 2010 tournament for England is like one long bad dream. Capello making them all stay in the desert miles from anywhere. Rob Green letting that goal slip through him in the opener. Rooney mouthing off down the camera against Algeria. Scraping through against Slovenia but holding the ball in the corner at 1-0 just as USA were scoring in the other game so that we threw away top spot. I think that Slovenia game was also the one where John Terry tried to head the ball away while he was lying face down on the pitch. The ghost goal against Germany, then completely losing our heads in the second half when we still could have equalised. Just a complete disaster.

Didn't the French team go on (or threaten to go on) a strike too?
I think Domenech sent Anelka home and then the rest of them refused to train for a day or two. Seem to remember Evra having a massive row with him.

2010 was dreadful with very few redeeming features
Er, what?
- Uruguay v Ghana chaos
- Tshabalalalala!!
- England being absolutely hopeless
- Spain finally winning it after Howard Webb's horrific refereeing of the final
- The Jabulani ball going all over the place
- North Korea calling up an outfield player instead of a third choice keeper, then only being able to play him in goal
- Paraguay making the quarter finals for the first time
- Brazil losing their heads against the Dutch
- Rooney getting booked against the Platinum Stars XI
- New Zealand being the only unbeaten team but still going out in the groups
- Raymond Domenech having a massive paddy and refusing to shake anyone's hand
- That Nigerian lad missing an open goal from two yards out
- Robbie Earle being sacked by ITV for ticket touting
- Maradona picking his mate up front for Argentina even though he was about 40
- That Maicon goal that bent in from out by the corner flag
And that's a bad World Cup.

Imagine not being pumped up for an international tournament. Shame on you. Even the worst ones are magical.

Nominated for "Most improved" after being here for two decades
Not sure what they're taking as the start point.

Not a fan of starting it on a Thursday and then having an extra game to fit in on the Saturday. They did this in Brazil.
Thu - 1, Fri - 3, Sat - 4
rather than
Fri - 2, Sat - 3, Sun - 3
which was better.

BBC will have all their games live online I imagine, pretty sure they did for WC2010
Probably ITV the same, although I can't bring myself to look at their website
