Guys i really need help. I want to make the next big team. Which team in Europe has gotten the highest growth potential? Things i consider; Stadium size, size of the city, size of country.
Some obvious ones are Hertha, Roma, Valencia. Big cities, big leagues etc. and most importantly, not doing to well.

Anybody got any idea to a team, who i can grow to be one of the biggest? I don't like to take a team like Wrexham to one of the biggest, as i deem that as unrealistic..

Hamburg - second biggest city in Germany, 57,000 stadium currently in the 2nd tier

Everton big city and a new 50,000 stadium on the way, been struggling at the wrong end for a few years

I'm looking for a subtop team or a big team in a small competition, with some budget to start a clubhopping career. Any suggestions?

FC Basel in Switzerland - big team for that league. In the bottom three IRL so could be a challenge and a good rebuild project.

    Im going for girona.

Might up be worth waiting for the winter patch to be released - likely a few of their squad will get increases to their attributes.

Can any body know why job offers are not coming in, having taken little Bishop Stortford to play offs in L2. but no offers coming in, and when you apply for a job always gets turned down. All my stats are fine no money worries.

What clubs are you applying for? if it's L1 jobs I'd be surprised if you're not getting interviews. Does you have any coaching badges in the game yet?

  5. It's like with direct football - it's very hard to make it work successfully on modern FM - certainly without a high press it's suicidal.

How many times IRL do you see a club in relegation trouble hire a defensive direct manager and them have results. Yet try that on FM and you're asking for trouble. It would be nice if the tactical system was more balanced and not favoured towards high pressing & possession based football.

Hi, i would like to play with a Targetman in Front.

Unfortunately, I can't find a good tactic for this. Does the Targetman role not work properly in FM24? Should you perhaps use a different setting instead of the Targetman one?

I would also like to feed the penalty area with crosses, but the players either play the ball flat or try to dribble into the penalty area. Or the ball just doesn't arrive

    Any help would be appreciated

PS:Sry for my bad english i hope you can understand all :)

If you have someone tall, aggressive, brave with good strength and heading then tell your team to hit early crosses. If he's playing centrally then tell the wide players to cross centrally or cross to target forward through PI's. You can tell your goalkeeper to distribute to him as well.

    Hello!

I am an eager FM player and started the journey with CM2 with CM01/02 being the epitome for me. I used to only manage top teams but after managing a lower league team I simply dont like the top dogs anymore. My dream is to get to the Premier league with a team from Vanarama leagues. And there lies my problem; I simply cannot create a good tactic. I usually manage team predicted to finish between 18-24. I have read several guides about lower league tactics and even though they make sense, I dont succeed. For instance they urge to keep things simple. Like using 4-4-2 with basic roles and not too many team/player instructions.

Could you guys share your knowledge, tips and tricks about this?

Have you tried the default wing play tactic? I'd probably adapt it a little to the players you have but it would seem like a logical place to start in the lower leagues if you're struggling.

On this FM 24, the striker just doesn't score for me like before. For me, the most interesting part of the game is to see if a striker can have more goals than performances, but in a realistic ratio. It doesn't work on this game. This example is extreme, but it captures the situation nicely.

How about my tactics? What to change? By the way, these are not all the player roles that I have tried, but it doesn't work at all. It's similar for me when I play with two strikers.

Here is the save with Werder in the beginning, but when I played with Roma after 15 seasons I had two of the best strikers in the game, won 3 Champions Leagues in a row and still they didn't have particularly good goal ratio.

Is there a trick for strikers to score more?

    P.S.

I don't want to open a new topic, but it seems to me that tactics with two DM's instead of two MC's work better since FM 23. Is it just me who is annoyed by it?

Camello lacks aerial ability so I'd set it to low crosses. I'd also consider work ball into box because he's not going to get on the end of many crosses - so you want to discourage your players doing so. Of course if you're struggling to get a goal late on in a match you can turn this off in order to increase urgency.

Maybe change the AMC role to a playmaker (if you have a decent one) so there's someone threading balls through to him. With your current tactic all the players in the final third are looking to get further forward so it would be beneficial to have one staying in the hole looking to create chances.

  9. I've tried leaving DoF to transfers for my youth sides a few times and I can't think of one time when they've tried to sign anyone with any real potential.

At this stage it's better just asking for recommendations and looking at your scout reports and then doing the transfers yourself. I'm hoping SI improve this element of the game in years to come because it would help add to the realism of the game if you're managing a club where the dof is responsible for transfers irl.

Hello, how can i improve this tactic? (FM23) I want to play active direct football. Opposition instructions - assistant. Thank you very much for help.

You want to play direct but you're currently playing with slightly shorter passing, play out of defence and short goalkeeper distribution. All of those instructions are based around possession based football.

Which team is it you're managing?

The NCB on Dunne was due to him being inept with the ball while being great at defending.

As a CD (with take fewer risks) he should just pass the ball to the closest player to him - doesn't need to be great with the ball to do that. If you do notice him giving the ball away a lot in dangerous areas then consider changing it back.

As a NCB he'll just turn possession back over to the opponent and your team will end up being under a lot of unnecessary pressure.

Would not Warrington handle the creativity duty (instead of looking for a new player for APs)? Attributewise is quick decent I think (passing/vision 14, anticipation/composure 13). I put him at DM because he is very sound defensively while being only bang average offensively (dribble/finishing/otb). My idea was to have Warrington picking the right pass (to the WBs attacking on the flanks or into space to any of the three forward above), with Browne in BBM (+GFF PI) arriving late would be a second wave attack and Reitz patroling/covering for the Flank players attacking on the left.

Warrington looks very good creativity and has good flair. You should look to have him supporting attacks so you have a central player who can unlock the opposition defence. I actually think he could play as a regista with Reitz going on a defend duty - this should help cover Tymon's runs as well with Ritz being on the left side of midfield.

I thought about this but I'm a bit worried of him just making super poor crosses on repeat as the role as "Cross more Often" (Bell has only 11 at crossing). Would playing him as IWa (with stay wider) make sense here to avoid him crossing so often ?

If he cuts inside what do you expect him to do? his passing and vision are fairly low and his long shots are poor. If he's whipping crosses in then they don't need to be great to cause havock to the opposition - whereas cutting inside and finding the perfect pass is a harder skill to pull off.

Make total sense ! him and Ashby are my only two decent crossers in the team. Question though : with Zuriko speed and technical abilities, wouldn't that be clipping his wings? would no-overlap but IFs (+stay narrow) X WBa work as an alternative ?

This is a good point. Just keep an eye on Zuriko's output - if it doesn't improve then look to get Tymon into the game more by using the overlap.

  12. If a coach is signed but doesn't speak the native language then he still has the same level of training (via the stars). If a coach was brought in but couldn't communicate without an interrupter you'd expect his coaching wouldn't be so effective - I wondered if this could be reflected in the game with their training star rating being lower until they learn the language.

  13. @Cassius

Both of your wide players in the attacking third are discouraged from crossing and you don't have any real creativity in the midfield - this is going to lead to a lack of chances been created.

If it was my save I'd switch Bell to the right side as a winger on attack and then move Zuriko over to the left and have Conway on an attack duty. Conway's pretty good in the air but not that tall so maybe add whipped crosses. Tymon is a good crosser so add overlap left so the players are looking for him and he can deliver high quality crosses for your forwards.

I'd also look for an advanced playmaker in the transfer window, as you lack creativity in the final third.

Dunne as a NCB would concern me as well as he's just going to aimlessly lump the ball forward, I'd be tempted to have him as a CB and use PI's to take fewer risks.

Make sure you have all players training their roles as well so the familiarity is increased.

This is how I'd do it if it was my save:

I am starting an EFL youth only save and I was wondering if anyone knew of any EFL clubs either in Vanarama Conference, League 1 or 2 that have a good track record of producing good players through their youth system.

I know Crewe used to have a good youth system but I don't think they do anymore. I remember Exeter producing some good players like Ollie Watkins etc.

Burton Albion have the amazing facilities due to them using the English FA's facilities and I did have a good save with them a few years a go.

Just wondering if I am missing some obvious ones.

    Anyone got any suggestions please?

I know you've got a club now but Barnet would of been a good choice.

Produced a number of good players who are playing in the league, such as: Ronnie Edwards & Ephron Mason Clark (both now at Peterborough), Afolayan (now at St Pauli), Jamal Lowe (Swansea), Albert Adomah (QPR) probably some others too.

They also have great training facilities on this years FM.

Does that mean he's going to try to put the player through on goal?

ie. should players with high passing/creativity only play direct?

Does that mean he's going to play long passes that will favour bigger players?

ie. should you avoid playing (for example if I have beckham in central midfield and Owen up front) 'direct' to smaller strikers?

Does "direct" (from midfield) mean high/long passes is basically what i'm asking?

    TYPE OR RANGE

The player will simply pump the ball forward more often than not.  If your forward is small like Owen then playing direct would be nonsensical as he won't win the ball more often than not in the air. If you have players with good passing and read the game well - then tell them to 'take more risks' they will then play the ball through if the chance is there, even if your teams passing is set to shorter.

  16. 35 minutes ago, Adonalsium said:

Directness of passing directly correlates to the average distance of each pass. If you ask someone to play more direct, you're asking them to operate with a more expansive passing range, basically. So that logically means you probably don't want anyone who isn't an elite passer and decision maker in your own team's context to do that constantly.

It's quite common for teams poor technically to go much more direct as it's low risk as the ball will be in the opposing half. If you have players with elite passing teams generally play shorter and work there way up field - I would say in this case pass into space would be a better option than asking them to go direct as they're unlikely to give the ball away and should have the ability to create chances in the final third. If you have players who are poor at passing and you ask them to go short, then you will end up giving the ball away in dangerous areas of the pitch.
