(FM23+) Breaking New Ground

Good morning.

So I've been trying to work out a new save for myself, one I can update on the forums. For those that don't know me, I have spent a good 9 years blogging but due to issues with my hands seizing up when writing too much I've had to stop and find a new way to update people on my saves.

Writing on the forums takes away the need for mega-long posts, on here I can write shorter, sharper posts in one big long post!

So "Breaking New Ground" is the title but that doesn't give much away does it?

Well let's start with a Tweet. I was away in Majorca when I good friend of mine MyFMStory quote-tweeted me with this....

938d1ae6a28336d8a0fd24f94940005e.png

This kind of challenge is right up my alley and something which instantly took my fancy.

Now I'm not one for using updated or custom databases, I've been burned in the past with that! So that takes out a lot of those countries above, what is does leave me with is....

Iceland, Northern Ireland, San Marino and Wales.

San Marino is obviously a tough one as you have to rely on a club playing in Italy but from San Marino to become playable. So my aim is to take those final three nations to not only reaching the Group Stage of a European competition to win one of them!!

I will be making it even harder for myself by starting unemployed with no badges and Sunday league reputation!

Updates will be quite often, I do play relatively quickly, I plan to update each month or when something interesting happens, updates will also be quite short but I will attempt to write a longer end of season review for each campaign

Wish me luck!

MY FIRST JOB

It's taken until early December but eventually I've been offered a job that took my fancy. I'm off to Wales with....

Vaizdas:Pontypridd United AFC oldlogo.png – Vikipedija

Pontypridd Town!

30ac3c5d6e99fc420ce4ba7bd57a1078.png

It's going to be a tough task ahead but what took my eye most was the club are already in the Welsh Premier, albeit near the bottom!

d434fd795d00a527411a544da4ee5bb1.png

Just above the relegation zone with 5 games of the regular season left, that is prior to the league split where there are then another 10 matches.

1a0e50dc542b1dd39eb122a8b944b738.png

We are predicted to end 12th so the club are actually not doing too bad, it's going to be a tough task ahead to try and keep the club in the league, not just this year but the next couple of year until we find our feet.

I'll go more into the club and players once I reach the end of the season, let's hope we start well!

January 2023

A shocker of a month, we are just so poor in front of goal. We really have no striker of note and with very little money it's tough to bring anyone decent in

ee97d265613600065410a0cb5cf08429.png

That run of defeats puts us back in the bottom two

968f11a20ac4d69479e9ce48d56dd8b2.png

There have been a couple of signings, Luca Murphy (CB), Connor O'Reilly (LB/CM) and Jaylan Wildbore (ST) all come in on free's. The big issue is we seem to have a really imbalanced squad with regard to quality, we have  6 quality loanees and a couple of decent players of our own but also we have so many players rated really poorly by our staff who are, quite frankly, shocking!

7fbe4b5b3351c2c1082c799c32591c79.png

We do still have a few days of the Winter window left but with no money to spend and no wages spare I have to try and offload some players before I can bring anyone else in, unfortunately those I want to get rid of either are not wanted or turn down the move when I accept a deal.

We just have to get through the next 9 games and pray we do enough to stay up, then there is going to be a huge rebuild in the Summer

22/23 End of Season Review

Well we did it! We survived with relative ease in the end. We played fantastically in our final 3 games to end way clear of Flint in 11th.

a90ff9ff1b7d01cfb33822b62763d894.png

7 points from the 3 matches, that means in my 16 league games in charge we gained 22 points. Pretty decent!

c2300305b8870b0497286df1bc5390a0.png

A lot of hard work ahead though. We need to start pushing up the table, a spot in that Championship group next season would be amazing.

Now the big issue and that's players. We have 19 players in our first team who are either out of contract and are exploring their options or in on loan and will be leaving. That leaves me with 8 first team players and 4 half decent youth players.

A major MAJOR rebuild is in order for next season!

With all those players leave what it does do is free up nearly all my wage budget so I can bring in numerous players of my own liking to fit the way I want to play and the formation I want to employ.

The one thing I really need to look at next season is the finances, we are losing money badly, what can I do to change this though? Well not a lot bar keeping costs down on players, non-contracts and free loans may be the order of the day.

4ea9e62ba346f286553343a30a0ecc55.png

I'd also like to start improving the facilities, mainly the junior coaching and youth recruitment, will the board agree though with how poor our finances are?

1bd67ec988b08605173441f6079599ff.png

Now I was going to talk about my key men but there are two issues with that, firstly, well there weren't any really!! And secondly most of them are leaving. I will do a good squad review prior to next season when I have a full squad!

23/24 Season - The Squad

Well here goes, there has been a LOT of business done in the Summer. We started (once all the loanees and out of contract players had gone) with 8 players in our first-team. The board did increase our wage budget considerable which has helped but I've tried to keep costs down as much as possible whilst attempting to improve the quality of the side, it's been really REALLY tough I won't lie!

Goalkeepers

Charlie Casper - Signed in the Summer on a free, a relatively large wage but he has pace to get off his line quick and decent decisions, reflexes, rushing out, etc. For this level he should be OK

49d7d83d662a55d30e61642546b6d2bc.png

Lewis Dutton - Also signed in the Summer on a free and will be back-up to Casper

f75d9cdd6e58715676273762cc11c09b.png

Defenders

Ben Margetson - The right back was here last signed and was one of our better performers, yeah he doesn't look amazing but for where we are he will will do a decent job.

f10f2c90b68f3e376714e07f5efb09bf.png

Ben Dooley - A free transfer signing in the Summer, Dooley will primarily play right back but can also play as a DM. His pace and agility is what enticed me alongside his decisions

40c3770acc6e97bb1225e0161a3b4679.png

Luca Murphy - I signed CB Murphy last Winter and he immediately helped us shore up the defence, he looks really good for this level

f9d861f24d690e8a5fa4be95cfdeaa66.png

Maxwell Kinsey-Wellings - Maxwell was signed on a free in the Summer on a free, I really like the look of him, I wanted pace in my defence and at 13 he is one of the quickest defenders in the league.

021c942a3ee9307602393c500d8b78c2.png

Nathan James - In on a season long loan from Burnley and will be back-up to Maxwell and Murphy.

b41bdb38649d9749072d9bb0ab44fc6a.png

Mark Edgar - Signed on a free, Left Back Edgar lacks the technical's but has decent mental and physical attributes for this level.

2eacd0aba8c7ce8cae2450924c9f0491.png

Callum Roberts - Another free transfer signing in the Summer, he's not amazing but will play a few games in rotation with Edgar.

d4923c1d0dfea28e7adececdb3cc1b4d.png

Iwan Walsh - Brought in from the u19s, he will provide backup to both central defence and left back.

abcfefa102f05092ada8fde8e102ced6.png

Midfielders

Midfield is currently where I feel we're a little short, I'm still toying between a 41221 and a 442, if we go with the former I do feel we need another one.

Lewis Brown - Signed on loan from fellow Premier side Newtown, he will play as my DM if we play a 41221, he has decent marking and tackling and some good mental's

12c81e0a590acc2d43b90f49c8630184.png

Jarrad Welch - Signed on a free transfer and on an amateur contract, Welch will be back-up in midfield, he looks OK with plenty of 9's and 10's in his attributes.

ae00416dde230df2f78ac83efa48881d.png

Luke Chambers - One of very few players who were here last year, Chambers looks relatively decent with some good mental attributes and will more than likely start in central midfield.

64ccafc8f5b1b9b19728d942c146177f.png

Maximus Rigby - On loan from Connah's Quay, I like the look of this lad, he has good pace and really good determination and teamwork.

5c3032e8cfe3a8a6aa8e6548beed8636.png

Lewis Johnson - For those that know me, when I get an intake I tend to label them as you can see below, so (I23) means he came through the 2023 intake. We actually had a couple of decent players come through last time and Lewis Johnson is probably the best. He will provide good back-up in central midfield.

2fe23fc16c010487e1a029d61e72e6a5.png

John Jones - We also got this lad who again will provide solid back-up.

286ed049fecd8a18e55dd11432194f79.png

Wingers

Owain Jones - Jones was here last season and was a big reason why we stayed up chipping in with 4 goals towards the end of the campaign. Yeah he's not amazing but he'll do a decent job.

ce5cc2394515f29aa934b9ea9118917d.png

Kai O'Keefe - Signed on a free in the Summer, he will provide back-up to Owain.

10d932dc62397d8c5c5b85c7a841fdc4.png

Daniel Broad - Brought in from the youth side just to add some depth.

7a883ae347f46b989d75fd8c4bf2062c.png

Nigel Aris - Currently Aris is my only LW so I desperately need another one, Aris came in on a free in the Summer and looks decent for this level.

1751779c6f19709cdd2c3dd76d1ba8eb.png

Strikers

We really struggled for goals in parts last season and I won't lie I think it may happen this season. I have really struggled for find a decent, quality Striker who doesn't want the World to join, I'll keep looking though and I do feel we're one short anyway.

Matthew Reed - Signed on a free from fellow strugglers Penybont. His goalscoring record isn't amazing, probably because he's got pretty poor technical's. His mental and physical attributes however look pretty good.

e4ccb3371a1054fe3beb9cbc3e82d698.png

Jaylan Wildbore - Signed in the Winter window, Wildbore managed 4 goals in 10 games last season and I have high hope for him again. He does look really good for this level, let's hope he can start banging them in!

2ceeb89fa2caf87c8e5c839f5f1598d3.png

Gary Murphy - Brought in from the u19s just to add a 3rd Striker to the squad.

f006122f1c3b0d1a5d99b30a2b022020.png

Overall I'm half happy, we need more strength in depth but with poor finances I really need to keep wages and costs down. I'll definitely be looking for another CM and a LW then possibly an extra CB and ST but only if the price is right!

Finally, the season preview and the media are expecting us to go down!

d33fc1dbaf2739cddf9d031f808f2d43.png

We're expected to end 11th which is the relegation zone. I have confidence we stay up but it's going to be tough!

August 2023

Well it's not started great!

9d40f2a46b87173c12d5652c8b30ed75.png

Hammered by Llanelli, who are in the division below is really not good! We did however get a point against Newtown.

ebe94309ea12d0d058159f88f89e222d.png

This is going to be a loooooooooong season!

Anyway, the Summer window is shut and I have signed four more players!

Shame Sutton - Just look at that beard!!! A new CB, some experience as well.

4b43cf07dfa10a054e568421a4dec824.png

Kyle Fanning - Signed on loan from Hull, a good addition to the midfield

94528a7162c26ac5a876fb942ec5465d.png

Jake Brown - Another loanee from Hull, a better option than Aris on the LW

69f4e89f8b7e0bc5b4a8c1963072f83f.png

Ben Beresford - Signed on loan from Birmingham, a Striker who actually has decent finishing!

583c4b13d9eb6c8d0cc765974d5e72d1.png

Whether they will be enough to start winning us games, well only time will tell!

December 2023

After a small break at the start of the month we've come back and put in some amazing performances.

26a53b229ec9e69c691c60cf1e96aaa5.png

A brilliant 5-0 win over Cefn Druids followed by one sensational result, drawing the giants of TNS 2-2 away courtesy of a 95th minute leveller!!

Stunning!

2023/24 - End of regular season update

I honestly do not know what has happened but our form has gone mad, we're now 8 games unbeaten and have won all 3 of our games in January so far.

e75707db120ce71b152f7d3a390c9a37.png

That means we end the regular season in 4th place and, if we carry on this form, we have a serious chance of pushing the European spots (top 3)!!!

2dbceeb9a4f6c7a59d137cfa8bdfd585.png

I can't put my finger on the upturn in results, the squad is the same, the tactic is still a 424 with 2 DMs, whatever it is, well it's worked!!

8a3db8e59b17dca6665b6be1159485fc.png

This is the tactic, a fluid counter-attacking 424. God knows how but its working a treat!

February 2024

Another solid month with only one bad game.

e00fd664a45bd4631a13aa1d865f0452.png

I can take the defeat to TNS but that defeat to Cardiff Met, especially as they had 10 men for a large part of the match was really poor. 2 wins from 4 in the league though is still really good and we've got ourselves into the semis of the Welsh Cup (TNS are already out!)

686ad2006463b6bb750033e8bf3a14fe.png

6 games left and we have a serious chance of top 3 and with that a spot in Europe (Welsh Cup winners dependant)

2023/24 End of Season Review

We went into the final 3 games 5 points behind Aberystwyth in 3rd place, we needed a miracle and a miracle is what we produced! We claimed 4 points from the first 2 games and with Aberystwyth dropping points we went into the final match, at home to Aberystwyth knowing a win would mean we leapt ahead of them to end in 3rd.

And we did exactly that!!!

6eb6323cd2a1124123de0d061c6196d9.png

What an end of the season and that meant we had ended in the European spots for next season......but only if the winners of the Welsh Cup were Cardiff Met Uni.

a5e03631ca530f712dd49df609cde7f7.png

Cardiff Met played Newtown in the final, if they won, we got a spot in Europe next season, if Newtown won then we have to taken away from us in the cruellest way possible!

And luckily for us it was an easy win for Cardiff Met!

293e942e03fe716e785bf31c46b1ac9b.png

That means a spot in the Europa Conference next season where we'll enter in the first qualifying round! Massive but it's going to be tough to get very far!

Now lets look at the key men from the season, firstly our best XI

9b699708e5fa7743074978df40be05d8.png

The 424 worked a treat most of the way through, bar a few dodgy performances we were really good overall

Goalkeeper Charlie Casper wins the clubs player and young player of the year award. A solid season for him where he conceded only 46 goals in 38 games and kept 13 clean sheets

70d5856c25a0597e1f4f8076e38c4862.png

Jaylan Wildbore ended as the clubs top goalscorer with 16 goals in 35 starts. He did a lot better than I expected but another goalscorer is needed for next season.

04f297ec5f9473f0401b7585dd25f6dc.png

Winger Dean Pinnington ends with the most assists at the club with 10 in 37 starts.

b40cd3ac93222990b65cbddae523bada.png

So an amazing season, we were expected to end in the bottom two, somehow we ended in 3rd place and a spot in Europe for next season. Incredible!

The board have given me a bit of money to spend, the wage budget hasn't massively increased but they have given me £20k to spend. I'll probably end up transferring that over to the wage budget to bring in some freebies and cheap loans.

80caed1827bc8cf34650c3659c3fe176.png

As you can see below the squad is already pretty big and bar the loanees who will be leaving we only have one player who will be out of contract at the end of the season. I don't foresee many changes in the playing squad, a new Striker is a must and then just some players to replace those loanees who will be leaving

12fa6c48b556369bb7723682340874ce.png

It's going to be a tough season with Europe as well and expectations a lot higher but I have hope we can push the top 3 again.

24/25 Europa Conference and Transfer Update

Well here we go, after last seasons amazing 3rd place finish hopes are high for the upcoming campaign, this means we really need to try and strengthen the squad which, with very little money, is going to be tough. But before we go through who's joined there is the Europa Conference to look over, somewhere where we can actually make some money!

We entered in the first qualifying round and were drawn again Andorran side Inter Club d'Escaldes, I had no idea if this was tough or not but after the first leg I knew exactly how easy it was going to be, we won 10-0!!!!! The second leg, we played the reserves and still managed to win 4-0. Easy, but it was about to get much tougher!

19aca348ea2318854e5bf31a5ebe4089.png

In the second round we faced Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimaraes, I fully expected a hammering and although we did lose, we more than held our own. A 4-1 defeat away followed by a 1-1 draw at home. Really pleasing!

3e24a8f3c2e88c02022b1f68b5e0df5f.png

And with that we made £689k of prize money!!! That is absolutely massive, something that could help propel this club above TNS!

Now to the transfers, I tried to keep costs down, free transfers and loans were the aim with them all on cheap wages.

All in all, only one player left and that CB Shane Sutton who retired, only four players joined as well but I'm sure, with more money at our disposal, more players will come and go.

So please welcome.....

Evan Press - Central Midfield - Free from Barry Town

833c4b3cf468652ce73f6d9846528072.png

Lewis Lynn - Central Midfield - Free from Bala Town

bdb239d763322ab63c97dc6e73914e7e.png

Warren Thomas - Left Back - Free from Afan Lido

69a3169312353102d4b6563f00a11b5f.png

Charlie Noakes - Central Defender - Free from Caernarfon

6e924b2d2efdbb5509ffa4cfee368381.png

A quiet window, mainly because I don't just want to buy anyone, but also because or squad is massive and I'm struggling to get rid of players, yes we have a lot on non-contracts but with me not paying them bar when they play I see no reason to get rid until I improve the squad so much that I don't need them anymore.

21fcc03fd80752b30210e36be9df080a.png

The good news is, with all they money we have, the board are beginning to agree to some of my requests. They did turn down me wanting the club to turn professional but have agreed to improve the youth recruitment and junior coaching.

551726c1fec8922846c6bbd23eb7f123.png

17ca77f7f4a69f5b35a64d88611376f2.png

The next plan is to improve the training and youth facs and then hopefully, when the board agree to it, we can improve the wage budget. But the big aim now is to gain European qualification once again for next season, the media aren't hopeful but we proved them wrong last season so why not again?!

The season has started and it's going very well so far!

A solid win over 2nd tier side Briton Ferry in the cup followed by two really good wins in the League.

dae99177017105140365c589b71700f4.png

100% so far, let's hope we can keep it going.

Now for other news and there are a few more signings to look at.

Mason Johnson - Winger - Free Transfer

f2c5fc3743b96915af78b1854d744f2c.png

Tolu Ladapo - Striker - Half season loan from Charlton

e64699c9cd241b51929767978807f327.png

Liam Vincent - Left Back - half season loan from Portsmouth

Savy Vicente - Defensive Midfield - half season loan from Shrewsbury

 7a02686af66ce4c6e28f3504f3c17222.png

Some good players coming in, until the Winter at least, the board wouldn't give me any money to spend so had to rely on this until the Winter and then hopefully the board agree to improve my budgets.

Luckily though the board have been more accommodating in my other requests.

Firstly, they have agreed to improve the youth facilities.

675e07148a39300b2e502af8aae17f22.png

They've also agreed to let me take my first coaching badge.

September 2024

What an incredible month, this team is just amazing and we are hammering nearly everyone!

f8a2ce2641e9fb3e006f030b7ba61ea5.png

100% in the league....still and we're through two rounds of the Welsh Cup. The only blip was an awful attacking performance against Newtown in the League Cup, where we went on to lost 8-7 on penalties.

It's all about the league though and we are absolutely smashing it!

43d40512f0af74db630e9a4021462237.png

6 wins from 6, 17 scored, 2 let in!!! But just look at TNS, what a shocking start for the big boys.

Link to post

This won't affect what I'm doing as I'm enjoying the ride at Pontypridd but I've just noticed that TNS made it through to the Europa Conference League, technically meaning they beat me to it for being the first Welsh club to get out the qualifiers. I still want to do it here and then see how far I can get in a European competition but thought it prudent to tell those who are following along.

Are the wheels beginning to come off? A good start to the month ending with two defeats and another defeat to our closest challengers TNS

Fortunately though TNS have also lost twice this month meaning, with three games of the regular season to go, we keep our five point gap at the top

January 2025

After a dodgy December we have been absolutely incredible this month. Four games, four wins!

And because of that we have massively extended our lead at the top!

895a07492c59d12b1370360f368a19fc.png

11 clear with 9 games to go! Surely we can't bottle this?

We've also made a few signings, mainly because my half-seasons loanees went back to their clubs.

Kamarl Grant - Central Defender - loan from Millwall

9cdd2eda96a64a62bac22ecc086cf99f.png

Myles Cowling - Central Midfield - loan from Cambridge

Alfie Rutherford - Striker - Free Transfer

Wallace Malpas - Winger - loan from Lincoln

3a9690903ab2ae8ebd2bd59f487bb804.png

There's still 4 days of the Winter window to go but I don't foresee anymore signings, we are over wage budget, which the board are not happy with and no one seems to want to leave!

A solid month with 5 points gained from our 3 league matches

We're also still on for the double after beating Cefn Druid in the Welsh Cup Quarters

In the Semi's we've avoided TNS and have an away tie against 2nd tier Penybont to play for a place in the final

It looks like it's going to be TNS in the final if we get there

March 2025

3 league games in March, it started awfully with a 2-1 home defeat but we came back with a stunning 5-2 win over Haverfordwest. This meant we would go into an away tie against TNS knowing at least a draw would claim the league title. We didn't play well but defended for our lives and came out with a 0-0 draw.

MEANING WE ARE WELSH LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!!!

What an absolutely incredible achievement for a team expected to end near the bottom of the table. The players have been amazing this season and fully deserve the title win!

And that means Champions League qualifiers next season!!!

Now all we to do now is win the Welsh Cup as well!

2024/25 End of Season Review

A title winning season! I did not think I'd be saying that 12 months ago. We had three games left of the league season and ended with two wins and a defeat.

d3110e2882b04957eabd9c389c1ac04f.png

60bd0bf32ad7fb94b54c0557ce6751bf.png

11 points clear in the end! What a season!!!

But there was still the Welsh Cup to go, we face Penybont in the semi final and it took an injury winners to seal a 2-1 win.

5808a56a1465db0db93505bee662f823.png

It was a hectic ending but we scraped through.

It wasn't a pretty game, there were very few chances and the game was scrappy and, well to be honest, boring! Then, with 11 minutes remaining, the winning goal came, a 20 yard strike from Summer signing Mason Johnson sealing a 1-0 win!!!

5743f99178cb5e86b7253963cd9f5851.png

A Welsh double in my third season in charge, absolutely incredible!

Now we have Champions League football to look forward to next season, we'll enter in the first qualifying round so it will be unlikely we qualify for the league phase of that competition but we have a damn good chance of Conference league phase qualification!

Luckily the board have given me decent budgets, £170k in transfer funds and a doubling of the wage budget to £6k per week. That means we can seriously improve the squad for next season.

Now for the end of season awards.

Firstly, here is the Best XI

ce79b2d7ecc5e3108e03d101c14ccbd8.png

The 424 worked a treat this season, defensively solid and scoring loads of goals.

Mason Johnson, the man to seal the double ends as the clubs player of the season, technically not great but he was a key man all season, 16 assists and 7 goals in 36 starts.

2c05cc51ef5970ab90537675c19082a7.png

Right back Ben Margetson wins the young player of the season, an amazing outlet going forward getting 15 assists, not bad for a defender!

610ce6812cb91a2d7c6d35581b0d51e7.png

Jaylan Wildbore ends as the clubs top scorer, the one big reason for our success, he banged in 26 goals over the season in 43 games, 15 of those in the league.

3ad52972bd32f4bd799ced63c88769b4.png

And here is the whole double winning squad.

1faa0bc986b42061ed842b5799d9b346.png

Now we look forward to next season and it's going to be tough to replicate what we've just done. I'd be happy to just seal League Phase qualification in the Europe and seal a European spot for the following season via the League. We have money at our disposal but I need to be careful in not bringing too many players into the squad. It's big enough already but we do need to make improvements.

The one thing I want to do now is get the board to agree to turning us professional, we may need to get some more money in via Europe, then hopefully the board will agree.

What a season!

Pre-Season 2025/26 - Transfers and Champions League Qualifiers

It's been a manic Summer!!!! With our rep improving and money to spend I am slowly able to attract better players, there has been a LOT of business to talk about!!!

But first let's discuss the Champions League, unfortunately our League adventure lasted one round, we faced Linfield and although we won the first leg at home 2-1 we bottled the away leg, losing 3-1 and 4-3 on aggregate.

cf28b4fc6ff61e05118cc0aaa45b5201.png

What that did was put us into the Europa Conference, straight into the third qualifying round, two rounds short of the League phase! Those games haven't been played yet so that will be in the next update.

Now let's discuss transfers and it's been a crazy window! I may have gone slightly mad and it may take a while for the players to all settle in but in the long run we are going to smash it!

All in all there were thirteen players signed and here they are:

James Winkle - Defensive Midfield - Free from Nottingham Forest

Stephan Negru - Central Defence - Free from Oxford United

Josh Edwards - Left Back - Free from Bala Town

Liam Weekes - Goalkeeper - Season loan from QPR

Harry Clarke - Striker - Season loan from Fleetwood

Harvey Rhoades - Right Back - Season loan from Southend

Omar Taylor-Clarke - Winger - Free transfer

Michael Spellman - Winger - Free transfer

Michalis Kosma - Central Defence - Free transfer

Jamaal Finlaw - Central Midfield - Free transfer

Joseph Williams - Striker - Free transfer

Jemiah Umolu - Striker - Free transfer

As you can see, a lot of deals but no money spent. We have maxed out our £6k per week wages though. I am really pleased with my business and it's good to see I can attract better players, most of the free transfer signings have come from players released by Premier League or Championship clubs who are all 18 or 19 year old. At worst they will make me some money!

In other news, the board have agreed to upgrade the youth recruitment and junior coaching, I'm really hoping it starts to improve the quality of not only my intakes but also the kids we have.

Now all we need to do it somehow qualify for the Europa Conference league phase to keep the money flooding in!

August 2025

Time for the Europa Conference Qualifiers, two rounds away from being the second Welsh team to make the League Phase (Yes TNS beat me to it and did it last season!).

In the third qualifying round we faced Icelandic side Vikingur and absolutely battered them in the first leg, a 5-1 win, we played a reserve side in the second leg and lost 1-0 but we had done more than enough already.

02105e7890b61890a2193e0f71bbace4.png

One round away and faced HJK of Finland, a tough test but one I felt we had a chance in, first leg at home again and we played amazingly to win 3-1. One foot in the League Phase but we weren't there yet.

In the away leg we started well, scoring just before half time but HJK grabbed two goals in the second half to make the final ten minutes very tense, they had so many chances but we held on for a 4-3 aggregate win and with that LEAGUE PHASE QUALIFICATION!!

928c3b711c846fcafdc5f00c87b526db.png

Stage one of my challenge complete, now to win a European competition! Yeah that's not gonna happen for a while!

League Phase fixture-wise it looks very tough.

96e057d8b717f09c3b873039cec2be61.png

I'll be happy if we win one of those game!!!

The big news is, we have gained just short of £3m in prize money for that European run, absolutely huge, now is the time to go begging to the board!

And the begging worked!

a75e376ea5045bce456067c9fc3cd3ed.png

f2d8ab09b936eac699c0b0899dce8c64.png

£1.5m of the £3m prize money spent on improving the facilities, that's all I can ask for currently, now waiting to ask to turn professional!

As for the other fixtures this month it's been a really good start.

46e3f37239713dc5353c9d2a9e7a138b.png

A good win the cup followed by 7 pts from a possible 9 in the League, solid!

September 2025

Probably the best month of the save so far, goals galore, yeah OK the defending wasn't great but my word it's been exciting!

0eac2d9a0b4aeabef3e058b629cde578.png

4 out of 4 in the league, we're also progressing in both cup competitions!

Not sure this season could've started any better, especially with so many new players in the squad!

October 2025

It was only a matter of time, the sheer number of games is catching up on the lads, it's been a rough month with numerous dropped points in the league but it was always going to happen at some point

b1b3deeaed6fc8d9f99bef46c12251d8.png

The good news is we are still in the Welsh Cup but in 4 League games we've only managed a single win and 5 points meaning TNS have overtaken us at the top of the table.

212d5d6f201e5f276bc47b2a48bedc4c.png

We're still well in the title hunt but we have to try and turn the indifferent form around.

We also managed a point in the Europa Conference League which gave us another £140k of prize money.

November 2025

The wheels have been reattached and we have turned our form around!

1da3bf5361afe38198172afe1cd68f02.png

4 wins and a draw from our 5 league games, really good and with TNS slipping up we have gone back to the top of the table.

95b3628c0498ea85d9681d899d839309.png

Really pleasing!

In Europe we also gained another point, this time away to Luzern, the defeat to Feyenoord was another really good display, we are playing our games in Europe at the Cardiff City Stadium so attendances are really high, giving us more gate receipts!

December 2025

What a month!!! Before we look at results there is one big HUGE piece of news...

4f1f2f4a2e31a4139db1a1baf6d34f8c.png

We are turning professional at the end of the season!

Now to results and safe to say its been a good month.

7d047141da3fc5580d320a1d2870ac74.png

10 points in the league keeps us top of the league

c2e34ef9a3525572c1c5bcf3615aa15a.png

3 clear of the mighty TNS, 2 games of the regular season to go before the usual league split.

But it's Europe where a miracle has happened. After 2 points from our opening 4 games we looked to be heading out, but then an amazing win over Puskas Academy away gave us a slim chance of qualifying for the playoff round, we then faced Newcastle and as expected we lost but somehow, miraculously we did it by the skin of our teeth!!!!

4266de9419b62b32efcca45068bc061e.png

We go into the playoff round courtesy of our goal difference!!!

Absolutely incredible!

January 2026

The end of the regular season is here and we have ended it with our continued good form.

04db19387065278839547d44949aede3.png

4 points from our final 2 games and a good win in the League Cup.

fc56838ddf0d866ddf0bb1b2d7c1daf6.png

We not enter the Championship phase, 10 games to go, 4 clear of TNS

We ended the month with a Welsh League Cup final against Newtown, in front of a massive 600 fans at the Millennium Stadium the game ended 1-1 and went to penalties where it took one missed penalty to secure our first League Cup win!

2e6047a60aed4f341cbf0af164142455.png

A great end to a solid month!
