I said at the start of the month that it felt like this was a big one.

Well....

We had a really good month. Some good battling draws and some very impressive wins. It meant we had a goalscoring run of 10 and an unbeaten run of 6 before Knockbreda beat us. Close game which could have gone either way. We missed a sitter at one end then they went down and scored. One of those things.

It means the table looks like this...

3 points from one playoff and 4 from another! Once again we found ourselves at the start of a very important month. At the end of this month there will be 5 games left before the split. We could easily find ourselves either side of that split.

First time we have been mentioned. A cheeky 3rd. Not bad. If one of those draws had been a win who knows!

November 2022

This is the biggest month since last month!

We do not play entertaining football. That's for sure. Daire Rooney seems to have stepped up and made up for Pomeroy's poor season. Remember he was the 3rd favourite for Top Goalscorer. He has 3 goals and 2 of them (at least 2) were from the spot. The Annagh Utd loss was tough...

We just need to be better at putting the ball in the back of the net!

We are just 1 point (ignore that game in hand!) from the playoffs. A great season so far. We have opened up a 4 point lead over 7th, 4 games to go before the split. A top half finish would be brilliant.

The most shocking thing is that GA. We currently have conceded the least amount of goals in the league. I wasn't expecting that. I mean I have changed my tactic but if anything its more attacking then before!

End of the day right now, I can't grumble its been a good season and we aren't finished yet.

So close! The defeat against Annagh probably swayed it. So close yet so far!

That’s the plan. I tend to set myself a goal and get bored. But this gives me the option to be flexible (a little) with how I manage and what I do. So hoping it can keep me interested! Enjoying so far either way.

I think we can safely say we aren't going to get the Top League goalscorer achievement! But with Team Performance done and dusted its now

December 2022

Big month...aren't they all!

I mean it wasn't fantastic. We went through in the cup but the league we stuttered, at the worst time.

It leaves things very interesting going into the final game before the split...a game that should have been played at the start of December!

If we win it we will go upto 5th minimum, get into the Top Half Split and amazingly only be 2 points off a playoff place. At worst a 6th place finish. Lose or draw and we will spend the rest of the season battling to stay up and maybe finish 7th. 

It sets things up lovely for our home game against Dundela....if we ever play it!

Gameweek 22

So here we go...can we hit the Top Half after the split?

A ridiculous 25 yard screamer puts us in massive danger of not reaching the Top Half.

Not a great game really, their goal was a screamer, other than that, nothing really has happened.

After hitting the Woodwork 3 times we finally get the goal we deserve! 

And that's it. Their only shot on target was a 25 yard screamer. Doesn't feel fair but that's football.

Our ceiling is 7th. I'm not worried about relegation. I think we will be fine. Its just a shame that, despite only being 4 points off 3rd place at the moment we will have nothing really to fight for for the rest of the season.

The one thing this is good for...we maybe have a chance of conceding the least amount of goals this season. Something I didn't think so was going to be possible.

Its clear to see we need goals. Something to work on ready for next season.

Janauary 2023

As month's go...this was a low low point.

Started with the disappointing draw and knock us into the Relegation Group rather than the Promotion Group. Then we were absolutely dumped out the cup. Awful performance. Two decent performances in the league have followed although we conceded a late goal to throw 2 points away against Portadown. 

Generally speaking its been a very tough time, the sort of form I expected at the start of the season but now am disappointed to see.

There's a couple of things we can still achieve to make it all worth while (nearly).

We have still conceded the least amount of goals, although its very close between the 5 of us. Just where we are though surely gives us the advantage.

8 goals away is big but Daire Rooney is still there fighting for Top Goalscorer. You just never know. 

8 games to go and there are still a few things worth going on for.

February 2023

First full month in the crap part of the league...

Well every cloud.

Suddenly we are the World's Greatest Goalscorers.

5 games to go and relegation isn't a worry. If anything we could end up with the most points in the league. I'm not stupid I know if we were in the Top Half it wouldn't be this easy.

7th is looking good but how is the rest of it?

He's closer than he was. 5 goals is big to bring back but, can't give up hope.

We have a cushion of 1 goal for least amount conceded. Amazingly thanks to this amazing month we are 4 goals away from scoring the most! We have to hope!

Update on Dynamics...

We need Dressing Room Atmosphere of Excellent...we aren't far off.

We need Team Cohesion of Excellent...we are a little bit off.

We need Managerial Support of "Full". I mean I don't know if Excellent is the most...it might be but I'm willing to wait it out and see. 

A few more wins on the bounce and you just never know.

March 2023

Only the two matches this month, it was originally going to be one but it got moved...and I'm so glad it did!

We were poor against Distillery. We deserved to lose, frustration. We came back well but at this stage with not much else to play for a 4-3 win isn't a good win!

We have fallen behind with goals conceded. We need Ballinamallard to get thrased really, as well as a few others now. Although we have a game more than Newry City we are ahead of them in goals scored. 

Rooney smashed 3 in 2 and although he's played a game more, the gap has closed. 3 games left. He has a chance!

The last month and really its a shame there isn't a "I want some achievements so please don't give up" team talk.

A mix bag. As you can see Rooney only got 1 goal so it wasn't enough but it was a good effort. He wasn't even my starting striker at the start of the season.

He ended up with 19 goals. Good season and maybe a chance of Team of the Season?

We were quite a few goals off both in the end. As I mentioned the team, once they bagged 7th, kinda just phoned it in. 

As a season obviously its disappointing to not get that Top Half finish but if you had offered me 7th at the start of the season I probably would have bit your hand off.

Still a chance of a few more achievements before the end of the season.

I didn't realise just how few players we actually bought in to strength the side. It makes the 7th place even more amazing really.

We weren't the overachievers so lets take a look at the current state of play at the end of Season 2.

Not much doing in this section...in fact...nothing doing at all. We were 1 off an unbeaten run of 10 which was disappointing. Other than that, not really close. 

It was ambitious asking for no goals conceded in 5 and that won't be highlighted yellow come Season 3.

I mean the fact there isn't a Team of the Year award really made these yellows ambitious! Happy we nailed the 5 players in Team of the Week. Still hopeful we can get Top Scorer. Other than that this isn't going to be a fast moving section.

Just the one here. But Manager of the Month was very nice. Very happy to get that. Overachiever...it was a team who finished 4th, predited 9th. Can't argue really.

Career Earnings at the moment stand at 27.5k. Just a way to go yet.

Wasn't really expecting any movement on this one and....we didn't. The Stadium one won't happen even if we got Promotion. Just a penny! That's all I want to buy and sell a player for!

Its sort of reset thanks to the end of the season and new players coming in. A good season and all of these could be achieved next season.

I did try and get a feeder club, board said no.

I've also been applying for jobs in the hopes of being "headhunted". It will come but I'm trying to rush things.

I think we have reached a point where achievements are going to be few and far between. 2 seasons in I'm happy where we sit.

I will go through friendlies and see if I can add to this team, encouraged by last season and maybe with some recruitment a Top 3 finish might be possible.

2023-24 Season Preview

Daire Rooney getting some love after his great season last season, he will be the starter from Game 1 so he has a chance this season if he can rekindle the form.

Nobody is expecting anything from anybody this season. Just the way we like it.

Pre-Season went well. The only loss we absolutely destroyed them just couldn't score.

So what does our Starting XI look like?

Our keeper came through the Youth Academy last season and played the last 3 games. He will be the starter...he is 15. He has a great future.

Another 15 year old who came through last season. He is the weak link of the side as it stands, but I'm more than willing to give him a go and see how he gets on.

A new signing and at 17 an old bugger in defence. Very happy to pick him up and looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Hughes played 27 games last season with an average rating of 7.29. He is the heart of the defence and will be very important to us this season. 

At WBR Henry played 27 times last season with an average rating of 7.07. 4 goals and 2 assists. 

Another new player. He can play CM best but we are playing him at CDM. We will see how it goes but another good new signing.

We pick up Graham on loan. No wages, no risk. Another youngster, happy. 

Another new signing. Although he's spelling his name wrong! As you can tell we have made much more signings than we did last season. 

Pomeroy had such a disappointing season last season but I'm willing to give him another chance...I don't know why....well ok I used up all the wage budget in other places. 

Rooney needs to be the guy this season. He was great last season, if he repeats then we could have a good season!

Portadown, heavy favourites, they finished bottom half with us last season. They must have had a great pre-season. We haven't moved. Last season it was 10th, this season its 10th. But I do feel better this season than I did last. 

Lets see what happens!

The squad is far too big, I'm going to see how we get on over the first month and see who can be released and who can stay. We need to trim it down.

It always nice to start a seasno strongly...especially a season that has so much promise...

Yeah I bet you weren't expecting that were you!

We have started brilliantly. 3 very good wins and a very good away point against one of the favourites and it was a brilliant game, neither side deserved to lose. 

Rooney has 4 in 3 and sits top of the Top Scorer list. Generally it couldn't have started better (well I mean it could have been 100% but I'm not complaining).

Way to early table looks like this. We are sitting pretty, first time I think we have been in the Top 3. Can't count our chikens just yet and we start next month away to Ballyclare, but we are playing some good football and generally this is the most impressed I've been since the start of this save.

Just to update you on a few of these as well...

We are closing in on another achievement, one I've thought we were capable of from the beginning. 20 games in a row with a goal, at the moment it was a big possibility. We are half way to 10 unbeaten as well. That would be a nice one to tick off as well. 

Things are looking good.

And while we are here...

Brilliant. We need 10 of these for an achievement. That's number 2. We are on our way.

Always nice when a post isn't just a Monthly Update...instead its...

20 games in a row with at least a goal. (I haven't updated anything else since last game but every single will be "1".

Its an achievement I thought we could get at any point so its nice to get it done. Next stop will be 30! We are only 10 games away!

Feels like its our first achievement in a while, they will be few and far between now.

September 2023

Ok here is the monthly update.

Generally speaking it wasn't a horrible month. The loss we scored in the 95th minute to equaliser but it was chalked off. Frustrating! Other than that its been a good month.

We are 3rd but the two team ahead of us have played a ridiculous amount of games more and I have absolutely no idea why. Not cup competitions or anything, they just racking up games. So we are provisional leaders but I always say...I'd rather have the points than the games!

Rooney still ticking along nicely. 

9 more games for 30 in a row with a goal. We can do that surely! Its a long way back now if we cant.

Overall...very happy with how things are going. Lets hope for more of the same.

Can we keep this ticking along? Or are we waiting to crash back down to Earth?

Very good month really.

Can't be upset with the Cup Exit against higher league opposition. We were outclassed and did well to get it to Extra Time.

We have been solid this month, its been a great month really.

Its a 2 horse race at the moment but with those 2 games in hand it could be a 1 horse race!

We are looking good for the defensive achievement, although there are 2 other teams who are trying to spoil it. We have 2 games to catch up with Bangor for goals. Really can't complain with anything this season so far. 

Rooney still ticking over. 

Things are looking good.....problem is I know FM sometimes it can go too good......

November 2023

I spent last month praising our defence and saying how well we were playing...

So naturally this happened. Rough month. The loss was an even game where we just didn't take our chances. The rest were tricky games where you could argue a draw was a good result.

It brings a few teams closer. If you look at games in hand we can open up a 4 point lead at the top. Which obviously would be amazing. Need to win those games in hand first though. Right now we are still in a good position. We should (should) score the most goals in the season. 

Still up there chipping away.

December 2023

Bit of a tricky November. Could have been better, could have been worse. Can we bounce back?

Yes. Yes we can. 

Great month. What can I say?

Another away draw, but we scored in the 92nd minute to snatch a point so can't grumble. 3 games without conceding! Close!

It mean we are top. And with the game in hand the biggest lead we could see is 6 points over Bangor. 

I wasn't expecting this good of a season, I would have been happy with a cheeky Top 6 finish. The fact we have 12 games to go in the season and are looking good for the title is just beyond my wildest expectations. The thing is we still have to play 2-6 twice. Not over yet. Not even close.

Rooney still up there. Its very tight. But still up there!

Another achievement in the books and its one that proves that its been a bloody good session for me.

Very happy to get this one done. Half way to 20! Although that would be a stretch.

We are slowly getting to the point where I've achieved all I did in the Beta. So shouldn't need to manually track anything.

January 2024

Its time for the split.

Perfect month. No goals conceded. 100%. Through in the cup (where we are away to the same team who already knocked us out of one cup this season).

We are sitting very pretty. 11 point lead over 4th for at least a playoff spot and 6 points clear of 2nd. Most goals scored and almost the lead amount conceded. It could still be the most perfect season.

Rooney has a little lead in the Golden Boot. 

Things can only go downhill from here!

I think this is what total support looks like.

The way we are playing the way we have been all season it just can't get any better so I'm calling it. Total Support has been achieved. If I'm wrong I'm wrong.

I started applying for jobs I had zero interesting in taking just so I could get this achievement. I said no and we all move on with our lives. This one would have naturally happened. But I wanted to get it done and out the way.

February 2024

First games in the Promotion Group...

It was a very good month. Either you get no goals or 4. Nothing in between. The longer we stay unbeaten in the league the closer we will get to the title. The Bangor result was absolutely huge.

We were 2nd best against Larne in the Cup, which is what's what was expected.

Our gap is 11 points with 18 to play for. Surely surely surely its a formality at this point. We will surely score the most goals in the league and we are currently leading for conceding the less. 

If Rooney doesn't score for the rest of the year Rosa will need to score 7 in 6 games. He has to play us and always scores against us so its a possibility!

Three in a season must make you favourite for manager of the season ("The Boss") as well. 

As you say, Unstoppable Force looks likely, Iron Curtain a bit tighter but very much on the cards.

A lot of the "seasonal" achievements could be done this season.

It would do but there isn't a Manager of the Year in this division. Or a Team of the Year so we have missed out on quite a few so far.

Its been a season which has surpassed my expectations for sure. I was hoping for a Top 6 finish and then build on it so

It means...well...we are free. We can move on...question is...do I want to?

March 2024

Well....I've had worse months.

Short and sweet but boy did it do the trick.

Champions. 4 games to go and in there lies the worry. Last season when we had 7th wrapped up the lads fell off a cliff. I'm really hoping they don't do the same this season. Mainly because we can still wrap this season up in spectacular fashion.

Rosa would need 5 in 4 to lie, not completed against the realms of possibility.

We have 4 clean sheets in a row. We have actually only conceded 2 goals in the last 10 games. 2 lots of 4 clean sheets in a row either side. We were 25 minutes last time...

I think this is another achievement where the wording doesn't quite match up.

I did this in Beta so once again this is a guessing game...

It says "Superb Dressing Room Atmosphere" but everything is Excellent (much better than awesome). And it seems Excellent is the highest it goes so...screw it...

I'm having it.

Think this is the longest it's taken me to hit 100 games for a club!

I've made a decision regarding the long term as well. I'm going to stay at Limvady for now and see if I can turn them into a dominating force in Northern Ireland. It will help with a lot of the manager achievements.

April 2024

Last month of the season and with nothing to play for its a hope the players don't give up the ghost.

They really didn't. Aside from the final game of the season which reset all streaks. Suppose it would have happened early next season either way.

In the end I didn't make a song and dance of things because heading into the final game everything was in the bag. I needed to concede 6 in the final game. I mean I got closer than I would have liked!

Rooney Top Scorer as well. Nothing has come through because the season isn't over yet with playoffs. It now worries me they count towards everything, in that case Bangor could play 4 more games yet.

I'm fairly certain that I got more than 3 but these are the only ones highlighted.
