The Tykes Strive For Survival

After a new update came out for the game I've decided to start a new save, I always like to be a low Championship side and thought Barnsley were a great option. Should be a very difficult first season or two, with the aim of survival.

Like the information says below, we have four rivals in the same league as us which should mean some exciting encounters.. just hope we don't get embarrassed by Sheffield Wednesday who have a great squad.

Desperately need to bring in some new players and strengthen the backroom staff.

Aims for the season-

Avoid relegation, expect to be in a tough battle due to such a poor squad but I think survival first season is achievable depending on who we can bring in on a tight budget.

Give young players a chance in the first team.

Screen grab of the transfers, trying to move on 3/4 players out on loan.

Signed quite a few players which was desperately needed although still in need of one or two starting XI players.

Great prospect, James Bree moved to Watford after forcing a move, feel like we got a good fee though and got 85% of the fee to go into our transfer budget.

O'Kane and Baxter should be key signings.

Some good signings there but not sure about £650k for O'Kane. Looking forward to seeing how you get on though :)

Cheers man, was a hard one but hard to attract better players to come to Barnsley.

You've done pretty well to get the likes of Bikey, Aarons, Buxton, Baxter and Cech. They should all improve Barnsley

Been a big fan of Bikey in the last 2/3 fm's should be a decent signing. Baxter and Aarons will be key if we're to stay in the League and Buxton is 2*'s better than Bree.

Our line-up: (4-2-3-1)

Davies

Evans, Mawson, Bikey, White

O'Kane, Hourihane(c)

Aarons, Baxter, Hammill

Winnall

Brief Match Report-

Rolando Aarons gave us the lead in the 9th minute after a great ball in from full-back Aiden White before Stevie May equalised 30 seconds later to make it 1-1 inside 10 minutes. Joe Garner made it 2-1 to Preston on the hour mark which turned out to be fully deserved as they dominated the second half. Pretty poor performance but showed some positive signs going forward.

19 Y/O Evans made his professional debut at right-back due to Buxton being ruled out for for a few weeks but will be back for the next league game. Main striker Tom Bradshaw will also be fit for the second game. Ideally I would still like 2 more players.

Man of the Match- Greg Cunningham

Our line-up: (4-2-3-1)

Davies

Evans, Mawson, Bikey, Cech

Razak, Hourihane(c)

Aarons, Rivic, Kent

Bradshaw

Brief Match Report-

On his debut, Abdul Razak got sent-off for two bookable offences after just 15 minutes, horror start.  Despite that, Tom Bradshaw was passed fit for the game so I thought I'd give him an hour to get some minutes under his belt and he gave us the lead after 27 minutes. A goal either side of half time gave Mansfield a 2-1 lead before another debutant George Moncur came on and made it 2-2 with a neat finish from 10 yards.  Mansfield's Adam Chapman gave them the lead for the second time in the match after his cross ended up in the back of the net. Captain, Conor Hourihane, drew us level after 67 minutes with a spectacular volley from 25 yards. Substitute Sam Winnall came on and scored the winner in the 76th minute to the delight of the home supporters.

A great result considering the red card, big win and a needed confidence booster. Great to see Bradshaw come back to the squad and score a goal, will be vital to our survival chances.

Man of the Match- Conor Hourihane

Second round draw-

Barnsley will play Crystal Palace in the second round of the Capital One Cup, with the game to be played at Oakwell. capital-one-cup-draw-league-cup_3313559.

New Signing-

Completed the signing of another Bournemouth central midfielder, this time it's Shaun MacDonald for £195k. Great deal for the club. He's signed a three year deal and will go straight into the squad for the Aston Villa game.

Our line-up: (4-2-3-1)

Davies

Evans, Mawson, Bikey, White

O'Kane, Hourihane(c)

Aarons, Baxter, Hammill

Bradshaw

Brief Match Report-

Jose Baxter scored his first goal of the season from the penalty spot to give us the lead after 19 minutes, after Micah Richards tripped Baxter inside the area. A much deserved lead going into half time, dominating the first half with 62% of possession. After Bikey hit the bar with a bullet header his central defensive partner Alfie Mawson was in the right position to tap home from a couple of yards out. We played defensively in the remaining minutes to ensure we kept a 2 goal lead and we did so brilliantly although Gabby Agbonlahor did miss a great chance from close range.

Magnificent performance, 20 shots compared to their 10, outplayed them in every area. Also great to have MacDonald on the bench, built a strong midfield now. A player that can play right back and centre half would be good now. Also, Evans played once again as Buxton picked up another injury..back in 3 weeks time.

Man of the Match- Andre Bikey-Amougou

O'Kane, Hourihane(c)

Aarons, Baxter, Hammill

Bradshaw

Brief Match Report-

Was great to be able to field the same side despite playing Villa just 3 days before and their was a clear confidence to our play in the early stages of the game. Summer signing Jose Baxter opened the scoring for us for the second time in 3 days with a tidy finish from close range. Mawson had to be taken off due to a slight ankle knock and was replaced by Lewin Nyatanga which really unsettled the defence and Brentford scored just five minutes after he was replaced, with Hofmann heading in from close range. Adam Hammill got the winner in the 83rd minute after rounding the 'keeper the hitting the back of the net!

Great to get 2 league wins back-to-back and build some momentum.

Brief Match Report-

Pretty dull game but a fantastic debut from Liverpool loanee Jordan Williams, who got MOTM. He's exactly what we wanted a versatile defender that can play RB and CB.

Brief Match Report-

After being on the back foot for the early stages of the game we scored against the run of play when Callum Harriott's whipped cross hit Ben Turner and ended up in the back of the net to make it 1-0. We dominated throughout after the opening goal but didn't make it safe until the 83rd minute when Harriott played through Tom Bradshaw who chipped the Burton Albion keeper to ensure we got all three points.

Really important win against a side that came up with us, undefeated in five league games. Also a really exciting performance from Callum Harriott, signed him on loan from League One Charlton early on in the window and with Rolando Aarons injured he looks a brilliant replacement...caused Burton havoc!

Man of the Match- Callum Harriott
