ham_aka_stam Posted August 10, 2012 Share Posted August 10, 2012 Holding up the ball is a case of physically using his body and skill to hold the ball still for other players to catch up with the play. As far as I know, it doesn't increase the effectiveness of dribbling. But I suppose it might with big strong players. Not that that is its intended use.
