Neil Train
Should I confirm interest from a club or issue no comment?
SI Staff Marc Vaughan Posted July 5, 2012 SI Staff Share Posted July 5, 2012 If you want to encourage clubs to bid then confirm the interest in the player, you're acknowledging that teams are circling interested in signing him - this often implies that you're open to letting him leave (otherwise managers normally say "Sod Off" or "No comment". (if you say "No Comment" then its not giving anything away at all and attempting to play things down so as to no confirm there is interest in the player and get people excited, saying "Sod Off" might upset your player if he was interested in the move potentially)
Lillywhite Dean
Marc - does this happen the other way? I don't recall seeing any media interaction where a journo will ask if you're interested in a particular player - especially one that is shortlisted. Would be good if this did happen. Will double check - I've a feeling it doesn't .... but it well might do in a future version
