LazyD
Assume I have players good enough to perform any role in central midfield what would be a good combo of roles ? for 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-
Steve Odom
Any defensive/creator combo should work, though it 's also linked to mentality and pressing. If you're, for instance, lying deep, waiting for the counter, the "ball winning midfielder" would create too many gaps in your formation.
LazyD
tried defensive/creator combo, they get poor rating and don't do much on the field

Maybe you can use both of them as defensive players in said case, so your FB's can be on attacking.
Britrock
I played a ball winner on defend next to a deep lying playmaker on defend in a 4231 and that seemed to work well, with a trequartista and 2 wingers ahead of them.
LazyD
"deep lying playmaker on defend" interesting, never even thought of that defensive playmaker always seemed strange to me
