A reasonable session. I have certainly managed to tighten up our defence, making us hard to score against (with one exception tonight). However, scoring remains a problem. This means that we have become the draw specialists:

Stevenage (A) 1-1 They equalised in the 90th min icon_mad.gif

Nuneaton Borough (H) 2-2 This time, we threw away a 2 goal lead

Shrewsbury (H) 0-0 A very dull game against my former team. There was only one highlight in the whole game

Chester (A) 0-4 The least said about this, the better.

Woking (H) 2-0 The boys bounce back!

Accrington S (H) 0-0 This beat the Shrewsbury game: no highlights at all!

FGR (H) 2-0 A nice way to finish the session

This leaves us in the 9th. If only I could find someone to bang in a few goals, we could get into the play-off zone.

Ian, your East Stirling did well again icon_mad.gif I think they lost the first, but then won the rest. They are top of division.

For Monday, our session clashes with the poofland game. We've decided we'll start when it's finished, around 9:30, and play till midnight.

A dull session in the main. My tots are still a little short of superkid status, but one became the youngest player eve rto appear in a Scot1 fixture (aged 14) and another the youngest scorer (aged 15).

The first game was a cupsucky thing where my reserves were hammered 0-3 by Dumbarton. No worry there although it was my first ever defeat as the Saints' gaffer. Later the same buch of rejects threw the League Cup first round tie at Brechin 0-1.

In the league all five fixtures this session were against teams highly fancied by the bookies. First we went down 0-1 at St. Johnstone. next we put in a great display for the first home competitive match as we overcame Falkirk 2-0. that was our only victory however as we went on to draw 2-2 at Clyde and 1-1 home to Morton before the final game away at Ian's East Stirlingshire. We were outclassed and outkicked as his assman orchastrated a 0-2 result.

My tots are still finding their way so I'm happy with being mid-table for now. We are lacking firepower and due to financial issues my squad is perilously thin and will become more so when many of my reserves are out of contract in a couple of months. The kids are picking up a lot of knocks and I know its a high-risk strategy, but with my wage structure being £200K UNDER budget I know I can always do an Ian and bring in 50 waifs off the street if needs be.

Well, only Mark and I turned up last night.

Devon had work to do icon_eek.gif (yes, you did read correctly).

As for Ian and Andy, I can only speculate that they couldn't bear to face the celebrating Pooflanders icon_biggrin.gif

We have the same situation on Thursday: Poofland playing again. I'm not sure if I'll be around, I may go out to the pub to watch the game. You boys could always download the save file. I'll let you know my plans when I know them.

Sorry mate - I was here but my fecky doodah was fecked agin icon_frown.gif

I was pleased for the boys - it was a good game. Particularly enjoyed the ugly wee fella whose CA/PA will be 200 in the new game icon_wink.gif

I don't mind postponing Thursday also - post here before the event whether it's on or off.

Hmmm, Andy. I thought you were the one flauting his Scottish roots and crowing when the Poofs lost to France? Fairweather supporters icon_rolleyes.gif

It looks like I'll be watching tomorrow's game at home, so I should be in the clan room shortly after.

A decent session. We flirted with the play-off zone during the course of the session, but our lack of consistant stirkers remains a problem:

Woking (A) 2-0

Wycombe (A) 0-1

Dag & Red (H) 4-1 Barry Hearn cangratulated me on our good win over our rivals icon_biggrin.gif

Bradford PA (A) 3-0 We stuff the struggling Park Avenue

Vans 1(S) Colchester (A) 0-2 We fielded our reserves

FAC 4Q Farnborough (A) 1-2 No excuse this time, I played the first team

Swansea (H) 0-0 For the first ever time in my CM history, I have a game on an icy pitch! It doesnt help the play as we fail to beat lowly Swanseas

Gravesend (A) 2-2 A good fightback from 0-2 down

AFC Wimbledon (H) 0-0 Another icy pitch, another 0-0 draw

This leaves us 7th, just outside the play-off zone.

Injuries are really starting to bite now. I have 3 of my best players out for 2 months each with groin injuries (I dread to think why my team get so many such injuries). This includes my left winger who got his injury the game after being declared the Conference player of the month (first time any of my players has got such an award).

Most of the session was spent trying to procure better strikers. I singed a Canadian International who made an immediate impact, coming of the bench to score a brace. He scored in the next game, but didn't in the following four. I have also just now brought in another striker who had a successful trial, scoring well for the reserves.

To add to the mix, my fourth choice striker, who scored shedloads for the club before I arrived, but never produced the goods for me, finally regained his form to come off the bench and score the goals in the fightback against Gravesend.

9PM start on Thursday, boys.

St. Mirren

Excellent sesh after a long break - seven wins out of eight.

1. Started with an ass-sucky League Cup second round game against SPL opposition. As I re-familiarlised myself with the squad I put the reserves out and a new Greek-like defensive formation. With a first half hat-trick from my 15 year old striker we put a knife through the Hearts as we ran out 4-0 victors.

2. At home to then table-topping Inverness Caledonian Thistle the regular first team cruised to a 2-0 win.

3. A setback with a 2-5 reversal at Ayr.

4. Falkirk 1-3 St. Mirren.

5. St. Mirren 2-0 Ross County. Mark's side had shipped a lot of goals and were hugging the bottom of the table but they gave us a decent run-out.

6. League Cup Third Round - reserves went to Peterhead. We surrendered a two-goal lead but the front two hadn't tired despite their combined ages totalling 29 years; we grabbed asoppage time winner.

7. Tanked St. Johnstone 5-1 with a truly masterclass performance. The children have come of age.

8. Queen of the South 0-1 St. Mirren. We seemed to have run out of steam but with the score 0-0 at 60 minutes I made drastic changes, went gung-ho and it paid off.

We've climbed from 7th to joint 3rd, neck and neck with Ian's lot. Still early day yet - Christmas is a-coming.

We don't score. We don't win. We're going down.

To sum up how the session went, I conceded a 50 yard goal. Yes, that's right, a 50 yarder. Their fullback booted the ball forward and it sailed right past my new GK who was 12 yards out and never flinched. icon_mad.gif

I've signed a few strikers coming in January but they're desperation signings rather than quality. I brought in a 18 yr old GK on a free from Celtic and an 18 yr old AMC. Building toward a future for some other manager 'cause I'm gonna get the sack.

Leyton Orient

A poor session, with our only win of the evening coming right at the end. Most of my first team spend their time in the physio's room comparing groin injuries :bigalp:

In particular, the loss of my star left winger has been a big blow, especially as the quality of the other players I have who can play that position is dreadful. Thankfully, near the end of the session I signed an AML/C who made the cross for the first goal in that last win.

Despite signing a couple of strikers last session, our scoring remains eratic. Then again, in some games they got no service whatsoever, so maybe they're not the problem.

Farnborough (A) 2-3 Away to the league leaders, who also knocked us out of the FA cup, we hang on to 2-2 until a sending off after 75 mins.

Exeter (A) 0-0 A dreadful performance at lowly Exeter see them dominate, but unable to score. We had no shots at all.

Enfield (H) 0-2 Another poor performance, beaten at home by 18th placed Enfield.

Scarborough (H) 0-0 Goalless in 3 now, without a win in 9.

Halifax (A) 1-1 We finally score again, and it was a beauty!

Morecambe (H) 3-0 Players back from injury, and a new signing means we field our strongest team in a long while. Second placed Morecambe are put to the sword. We break our 10 game winless run.

This poor run has seen us drop to 10th. Amazingly though, we are still only 3 points away from 5th and the play-off zone. Given that our injuries are clearing up now, we have still have everything to fight for.

Before the last game, I was offered the vacant position at Port Vale. This was tempting as at 19th place in Div 3, they are one place above Mark who has taken up residence at Rochdale after Ross County finally gave him the boot. However, as Vale are bankrupt, I didn't fancy the fight with Mark who has £100k in his transfer kitty icon_eek.gif And anyway, I am coming up for the anniversary of my appointment at Orient. It's about time I put down roots somewhere.

A nice session, though a little annoying because we had a lot of games at different times, so there was a lot of waiting for other people to complete games.

We started badly, but picked up form near the end:

Stevenage (H) 1-1

Nuneaton Borough (A) 0-0

Burton Albion (H) 0-2

Shrewsbury (A) 2-3

FAT3: Dagenham & Redbridge (A) 1-1

FAT3®: Dagenham & Redbridge (H) 2-0

Kettering (H) 3-0

Chester (H) 2-0

Accrington (A) 0-1

We're really aiming to pick up the FA Trophy this year, though the draw is making it difficult. Having been away to both Dagenham and Redbridge, and overcome them, we now face the combined force of Hamption and Richmond in the fourth round!

In the league, we've slipped to 12th. Though the division is so tight that we can still make the play-offs if only we can cobble together a decent run over the last dozen or so games.

Second Division.

:sigh:

A bit better, we actually won two games, scoring three goals in each. icon_eek.gif (To put this in perspective, we won three out of 17 going into the session (7 L 7D). At one point in the session we managed 8th only two points behind 3rd spot... :/. (Jock leagues icon_rolleyes.gif).

There is still chance for survival as the pack is tigh. The leaders (Albion and Raith Rovers I believe) are some 20 points ahead of third.

Leyton orient

Same old, same old.

We still hover mid-table, just a good run away from making the play-offs. My strikers are still useless. I've tried every combination, without success. Even the U19 strikers have had a go.

We did play better tonight. Mainly due to our star ML returning from his groin injury. Also, I picked a 15 year old AMC who'd played well in the U19s and reserves for our Trophy match, and he played so well he's started every game since.

FGR (A) 0-2

FAT4 Hampton & Richmond (A) 1-0 In the next round, we've been drawn at home to Chester. This had now added sugnificance, as Mark had taken over there

Woking (A) 2-1

Bradford PA (H) 0-0 We dominate strugling Park Avenue, but our lack of fire-power see us drop 2 points

Wycombe (H) 0-1 Same as the previous game, but this time 4th placed Wycombe scored from a FK - their only shot of the game icon_mad.gif

D&R (A) 2-0 Back on track, we beat our rivals for the third time this season - that'll keep the fans happy! icon_smile.gif

Swansea (A) 1-0 We seem to be doing better away then home of late

This has seen us rise to 8th, just 5 points away from the play-off zone.

Elgin

On one level, this was one of the worst sessions ever (I think I played two matches, maybe 3), on another level it was the funniest session in a long time (I refer you to the Eidos boards. icon_smile.gif)

Leading up to the game we were all involved in our Wales Challenge and despite Ian's protests, we carried on with the clan game. Or at least the three pooves in Poofland did. Midweek matches galore and a Saturday off for me meant very little action for Elgin. Which in retrospect is probably a good thing.

We're 9th with a shot to get clear, but we're just not winning. At the very end of the session I expressed interest in the insecure Exeter post. They're just above relegation in the conference by 1 point and I'll join Graham and Mark. We saved and quit before I got to see my board's reaction...it's risky, being my nationality is set as American and I've not see any job offers yet.

Leyton Orient

Last night session was the funniest I can remember. I was crying with laughter at points.

Firstly, there was much fun on the Eidos:LLM boards, winding up the locals. Posting on there is the only way to get Ian's attention it seems.

Then, there I spilt some beer over my keyboard. At first, it seemed to have no effect. But then the space_bar_broke_down_which_meant_I_had_to_use_underscores_instead. Then,_everytime_I_pressed_a_i'd_get_ag,_which_was_agnoying. Agfter_ag_while_agll_kinds_of_stragne_charagters_str€agted_to>agpp321ear_meagihgjy_I_stagrted_to _wriste_com76splete_gibberish. icon_biggrin.gif

(I'll stop now, you've got the idea - I'm writing this on a new keyboard, purchased this morning). Amazingly, Devon and Kostis (who was hanging out with us, planning our attacks on the Eidos board icon_biggrin.gif) could understand what I was writing.

In the game itself, which was largely forgotten, I had a great evening. We only played five games because other players had a lot of midweek games, and Ian went for great stretches of a time before each press of continue (he was pre-occupied on the Eidos boards).

We managed to go through the session unbeaten, and didn't even concede a single goal:

FAT5: Chester (Mark) (H) 3-0 Mark's lot conceded 2 pens (the second scored from the rebound) before a third to totally humiliate him icon_biggrin.gif

Gravesend (H) 1-0 Another pen

FAT6: FGR (H) 3-0 This puts us into the quarters!

AFC Wimbledon (A) 2-0

Farnborough (H) 0-0 A decent result against the runaway Conference leaders

That match against Farnborough was the first of three - we face them in a two-legged semi-final of the FA Trophy in our next games. They will be a hard prospect. Not only are they well clear at the top (already having sown up a play-off place), but they have won the Trophy in the previous two seasons.

In the league, we have risen to seventh, only 3 points away from the play-off zone, with nine games to go. I'll be disappointed if we don't make get into those places.

I think I may have finally solved our striking problem. A news item alerted me to an unhappy player at Halifax. He has a proven scoring record, and was listed for loan. I have brought him in to the end of the season, though I can't afford to make the deal permanent.

Won 2 drew 2 lost 1 I think. I can't remember much accept trying to control my laughter.

At one point we were clear in 8th by GD. I can't remember if that's the case. I expressed interest again in the Exeter job. My fans have pleaded with me to stay and Exeter say they want me once they sort out Eamon Dolan. Mark failed to beat Exeter which I think would've helped my cause.

I'd need my Louletano players for that tactic. icon_wink.gif They had quality. I do very little in the B clan except press "play and continue." Oh and lately spend lots of cash. icon_smile.gif

My Elgin side is rubbish and I can't get anyone worthwhile to join. I've no strikers, a dodgy defense, and an aimless midfield. I've tried so many tactics it's absurd. I'm just hoping to scrape through into 8th.

It became corrupt. Now we've got a great host who keep the integrity of the save, and has numerous back-ups in case of problems.

You'd be very welcome to re-join Wimb, we need the numbers. Though notionally we have six players, we will normally have four or even three for a typical session.

Mondays and Thursdays @ 8pm.

Leyton Orient

We went into this session on a high. Our league form had been so good that the play-offs were a distinct possibility. We'd also got ourselves into a FA Trophy semi-final.

However, things started badly when the receivers were brought in. Our financial state has been perilous for a long rime, and I don't think Barry Hearn is willing to add to the £2m loan the club have outstanding at the moment.

We started with our Trophy semis. Unfortunatley, we faced Farnborough who were top of the league (and indeed wrapped up the championship later in the session) and who had won the Trophy in the previous two seasons.

The first leg was at home, and things went badly almost straight away. We conceded a penalty and had a DC sent off after only six minutes. The penalty was converted. We did well to hang on with 10 men, and only come away with a 0-1 scoreline.

The second leg, at their place was tricky. They are a good side and had most of the posession. We helf them though, until they finally broke the deadline in the 88th minute. We scored a late goal to level the match, but not the tie. 1-1.

Back to the league then, and what should have been an easy game away to 17th placed Enfield. We duly took the lead, but were then pegged back to 1-1, and then finally lost 1-2.

Another supposedly easy game followed, at home to Exeter who were placed 20th. However, our best striker (on loan from Halifax) got a season finishing injury before the game (I sent him back). During the game, we had another three injuries - all to strikers. This lack of firepower was one of the reasons for another poor result - 0-0.

At this stage, we were starting to lose sight of a play-off place, and the final nail was put into the coffin when we lost 0-4 away to fellow mid-tablers Scarborough.

I was past caring at this stage, and fielded a young side away to 2nd placed Morecambe. We did quite well to lose only 1-2.

With one game remaining, we're in 10th.

Elsewhere....

Ian has been up to his mod tricks, guiding Rotherham to an improbable run up the table. They now lie in th in the 2nd division, one place outside the Play-off zone. In their final match, they need to beat 10th placed Rushden & Diamonds away, and hope Bournemouth lose at home to 15th placed Peterborough.

Mark managed to win his first few games with Chester, but they still bobble around mid-table. At 12th placed in the second division, they have a chance of overtaken my plumetting Leyton Orient if results go their way in the last game.

Devon finds his Elgin side bottom of the Scots 2nd div, though not yet relegated. In his final game, he needs to beat 8th placed Arbroath away, and hope that either 9th placd Dumbarton don't win at home to 4th placed Brechin, or else 7th placed Forfar lose at home to runners up Raith Rovers. (Got that? icon_wink.gif )

Andy has been away for most of the 2nd half of the season, but his St. Mirren side have been doing him proud. They are placed 2nd in the Scots 1st division with one game to go (only champions are promoted). It is possible for him to get promoted if the Saints get a better result away at relegated Ross County than leaders Ayr get at home to 8th placed Clyde.

Perpetual absentee Doug may be interested to know that his Montrose are 5th in the Scots 3rd division.

Wow...that's worrying. I can't deal with this...you should've just played without me. icon_wink.gif

We should've been in a safer position, but with some unfortunate results. One game I conceded two penalties in two minutes.

I'll also note here that I applied for the Exeter job. Although they once wanted me, I'm likely to be turned away. In any case, I feel it's my duty to keep Elgin up now.

Thanks so much for the news Graham.

A combo of totally f*kced broadband connection and work commitment have kept me out. Work commitments means having to keep dashing to Cambridge for 3 or 4 days at a time. I have at least one more of those and then I'm off for good to Thailand.

Real pity as I'd seriously bonded with my young saints and was excited about leading them to glory. Glad they're managing it without me.

IF I happen to be around one evening AND my modem's up I'll pop into mIRC and say hi and check the savegame, but it's more than 50% likely I won't manage to, so I guess I'll best say here and now and big thank you to you all for inviting me into the clan and I enjoyed the banter. Unfortunately broadband hasn't arrived in the jungle so with regret I hereby relinquish my hold over st. mirren and membership of the clan.

I do hope I'll 'see' you guys again but who knows where my destiny wil lead me?

Close season sucks ass icon_mad.gif

We finished up with our final game of the season, a 2-0 win at home to Halifax. We finished 10th in the Conference, only one place above Mark's rapidly improving Chester.

We then holidayed through to the new season (06/07) regen. During this time, my clubs receivers have been busy, and have brought in a couple of new signings. Clearly, they haven't heard of SWYCT, as we've signed a Cayman Islands striker and an Aussie GK. The Aussie immediately looks good, while the striker is rated highly by my coaching staff despute having pish stats.

I've also managed to bring in another couple of loan signings, but I was bored stiff during the session, so didn't put enough effort into finding new signings as my team need.

We're still trudging through pre-season now. As we are down to four players now (not counting Doug), we've decided that the LLaMa shield will consist of a CM league tournament held at Ian's Rotherham ground. Three games in three days will be a severe test for our players before the season starts!

As seen above, Ian's Rotherham failed to make the play-offs, and Devon's Elgin were relegated back to the Scots 3rd division. Andy's St Mirren bottled their chance of getting promotion from the Scots 1st by getting beaten 4-0 by Ross County. It didn't matter anyway, as Ayr won to secure the championship.

Start of Season 06/07 - Leyton Orient

With only four active members of the clan, we played the LLaMa shield as a mini-league over three days at Ian's Milmoor ground. Results as Follows:

Chester (Mark) 0 Elgin (Devon) 2

Rotherham (Ian) 1 Leyton Orient (Graham) 0

Rotherham (Ian) 3 Elgin (Devon) 0

Chester (Mark) 3 Leyton Orient (Graham) 1

Rotherham (Ian) 3 Chester (Mark) 0

Elgin (Devon) 1 Leyton Orient (Graham) 2

Rotherham won the Shield but it doesn't count due to home advantage. Devon and I were joint 2nd:

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">

P W D L F A GD Pts

Rotherham (Ian) 3 3 0 0 7 0 +7 9

Elgin (Devon) 3 1 0 2 3 5 -2 3

Leyton O (Graham) 3 1 0 2 3 5 -2 3

Chester (Mark) 3 1 0 2 3 6 -3 3

</pre>

After that, we had time for my Orient side to play only one game. Promisingly, we won away to Boston United 2-0. The first goal was scored by a 16 year old returing from a successful loan spell an Notts County last season, and was assisted by a 15 year old midfielder.

Typically, the scorer of the 2nd promptly got an injury which puts him out for 3 weeks, and another new striker got injured in training the following day. Nothing changes icon_mad.gif

Looking forward to Thursday now, when we get into the thick of competition proper.

Still at Elgin...

But the future is bright(ish). We've signed a AM/ LC on a free who was genius in two matches he played. We've loaned an SC from Rotheram who scored twice in our first league match over Dumbarton to give us a 2 - 1 win. I picked up a GK from Middlesbrough on a free. AM trying to secure a DC on loan from Rotheram after being turned down flat by a few other players.

Also some bright youth talent as a 17 year old opened our cup campaign. We beat Forfar 2 - 1.

Two matches; two wins. Historic.

Unfortunately Exeter don't have a dime icon_frown.gif We'll probably see the receivers in quite soon...

We are trying to avoid that by renegotiation of some contracts and unloading of some high end wage earners (who are crappier than crap, btw)

Anyway, won at home, lost away icon_rolleyes.gif and we need some player or two to make the team play as we like.

All in all, a nice session, although clan channel looked like ghosttown, compared to Clan B icon_wink.gif

Leyton Orient

There seem to be two major themes to my time at the Orient: draws and groin injuries.

Last season, we drew more games than anybody else in our league, and we are already joint leaders in the draw-stakes this season (though I may have competition, as Mark's Chester are the other joint leader).

We did manage to win our first game of the session: 3-0 at Boston United. After that, we recorded four successive draws: 0-0 at home to Northwich Victoria, 1-1 at Wycombe, 2-2 at home to Stevenage and 1-1 at Hereford. Except for the goalless game with Northwich, we led every game before being pegged back (we actually led twice against Stevenage). Our boys really need to learn how to hold onto leads, especially as Wycombe and Stevenage equalised in injury time icon_mad.gif

The league must be of a low quality this season (well, Jordi has joined), as our 2-4-0 record is good enough to see us sitting in fourth place.

Oh, I said the other theme was groin injuries. Last night was actually quite light in that regard: we only had one.

So what do you do instead of kicking Kostis when the game is a bit slow? icon_wink.gif He's quite useful in that regard icon_biggrin.gif

Ofc, I realize the answer to my question. You go to Eidos and remind Ian to press continue icon_biggrin.gif

Leyton Orient

Doug turned up last night! icon_eek.gif But Jordi didn't.

Things don't change at Brisbane Road. We have become the favourite team of pools punters everywhere by managing to achieve eight draws in our first 12 league games. If we could only persuade the league to implement 2 points for a draw we would be storming the league.

Enfield (A) 2-1 As is normal, Enfield equalised in the last 10 minutes, but unusually we got an even later winner. Result of the night

AFC Dons (H) 0-0 We dominate but are unable to score

Wrexham (H) 0-0 As above

Exeter (Cyber Jordi) (A) 1-1 Again we lead but are pegged back by a late equaliser

Chester (Mark) (H) 0-1 A real upset as Mark's struggling team inflict our first defeat of the season

Woking (A) 1-1 Normal service is resumed: our opener is cancelled by a late equalise
