Arsenal have today signed Estonian international goalkeeper Mart Poom on loan from Sunderland until January 2006.

Poom, who joined Derby County in 1997, has vast experience of English football, having made over 200 appearances for both the Rams and Sunderland.

Voted Estonian Footballer of the Year six times, Poom, who won his 100th cap for Estonia last September, will start training with Arsenal immediately and will wear the No 21 shirt.

The streets around Highbury are buzzing with the news that MART POOM may be inside the ground putting the finishing touches to a contract. If the news is true this signing would present a MASSIVE COUP for manager Arsene Wenger and David Dein. On a day which sees big money moves for Michael Owen and Jermaine Jenas it seems Arsenal have more than matched their lower lying, less ambitious rivals with the signing of Poom. In keeping with Newcastle's public unveiling of Owen inside St James Park Arsenal have confirmed they will let the one man waiting outside the marble halls inside the ground to greet the Estonian stopper. However he may just be a drunk looking for a dry doorway, sources to confirm......

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Justin Hoyte joins Sunderland on loan

Defender Justin Hoyte has today agreed to join Premiership side Sunderland on loan for the rest of the season.

Hoyte, 20, has made a total of 17 first team appearances since making his debut in the 6-1 home Premiership victory over Southampton on May 7, 2003.

England Under-21 international Hoyte, who joined Arsenal as a scholar in the summer of 2001, made 12 first team appearances last season, including the full 90 minutes in the Club’s 5-1 victory over Rosenborg in the UEFA Champions League.

Due to FA Premier League rules, Justin will not be able to play against Arsenal during his loan period with The Black Cats.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to wish Justin the best of luck during his time at Sunderland.

So he wont be fit until the start of October and the loan is untill January the 1st? Surely he must only be there as third choice and a new player will be brought in, in the january window.

Maybe Isaakson said he'll join in January *clutching at straws*

The fact that Sunderland are prepared to loan him out speaks volumes for me , ie he is sh**e.

If i was a Tottenham fan i'd be in here taking the pi$$ , those guys are so slow on the uptake.

Although i'm very glad we didn't get Jenas AW is a publicly keen admirer and there wasn't even any linkage with him, smacks of no money to spend.

I thought we might have a sneaky big signing today (well at least an outfield player) , v.disappointed.
