arkitekt88 Posted July 3, 2010 Share Posted July 3, 2010 i can just see it now about 50 years from now or maybe even sooner, an english league structure that is rediculously elaborate and suited to exciting television viewing. major changes to rules and structure are abound and im going to see (not that anyone is going to come back to this thread in 50 years time to check lol) if i can predict what this might be. im going to come back in a bit to share with you what i think these changes might be and then make a database for all to try them out, feel free to suggest any of your own Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sead Muratic Posted July 4, 2010 Share Posted July 4, 2010 Don't mean to dishearten, but if you look at today's top five league in term of commercial appeal, they all have similar system, and that system has been evolving for decades. There are leagues with different systems, and they don't come close and they know it, even MLS itself has removed some rules that made it 'too different', because it proved to hurt its appeal. Football in general, and EPL in particular, don't seem to need a radical change in system. Commercially, it's winning, why change? Clubs go bankrupt everyday, but it has nothing to do with the fact that they don't play a best-of-seven playoff in their journey to relegation. Americanisation might work for selling muffins in South East Asia, but I doubt it'll work for football, except in sinking some big clubs into ridiculous debts. Having said that, you can do whatever you want in the editor. I know the fun of altering the boring reality, even when it's good enough already, I do it myself, a lot. arkitekt88 Posted July 5, 2010 Author Share Posted July 5, 2010 intersting points, off course playoffs are a favorite but I'm going to limit them if possible, also I understant the point of the top 5 leagues being the best for what they are now but even these systems have evolved over the years and like anyother sport will need to evolve with the times, the needs of people may be totally differnt in years to come, say for example a real life version of basektball lol, not from the merging of sports point of view but from a spectator point. I have a few ideas lined up for this database and it looks like its going to unique, crazy and have somewhat a long play life if you start at the bottom!
