The MLS AI releases important players via waivers that don't make sense. For example, FC Dallas released Ricardo Pepi on waivers and Montreal waived both of their starting midfielders. The AI still seems to be misunderstanding the rules and letting important players go. IRL players aren't waived too often and its only players that just aren't good or injured long term. It doesn't make sense for teams to release first team and squad players.

I agree. Teams in MLS let players go far too often in FM. iRL there isn’t much activity in the waiver drafts or the re-entry drafts. There are usually less than 10 players selected in each. They also tend to not register aging players who are still clearly good enough for the league which is weird since aging players from top leagues usually come to MLS for the check and finish out their careers. It seems to be a salary cap issue but are the AI buying down contracts?

Just a thought. But is it still relevant for MLS to have the flags of "non selected players get waived" considering that teams now have B / II teams? I feel like that flag adds to the screwy roster building as players are just released on waivers, even recently signed academy and super draft players. The AI never really place non selected players on the B team...

This has been the issue for years with the MLS in FM. Every year this issue is raised yet every year it is the same. It seems the AI has no understanding of how to buy down cap impact and that leads to a ridiculous waiver list.

As far as buying down contracts, I’m noticing that a lot of teams are trading away lots of GAM to stock pile draft picks…Im wondering if teams even have money to buy down contracts.

is there any sort of update on this? It has literally been years this has been happening so why is the MLS even in the game if you cant be bothered to fix it. Every year the MLS is unplayable after 6 months as teams have squads of 13 players.
