Staff role when signing new coach...

Trying to sign some coaches etc. when offering the contract some coaches don't allow me select a different role. Is this a fault or is it their way of saying they will only take the one role. I cant even select the box to offer other roles (even if they would reject)....

Is the "lock" icon there red? I've noticed more instance of players, at least, making certain terms non-negotiable (not a lot of the time or anything, just here and there). Maybe coaches do it too?

Yes, I've seen coaches set staff role as non-negotiable.

Some staff will lock in the role they want. They can also change this after you offer them a contract in a different role and they decide they don't want it. For example;

Coach A has great JPP and JPA stats but lousy coaching stats, so I offer a contract as a scout, he then decides he doesnt want to be a scout but remain a lousy coach and will lock the staff role to 'Coach'. You now cannot offer him a contract in any other role.

And then you'll sack him.

And then Chelsea will probably sign him.

As a scout.

This does change from save to save though, and quite possibly in time.

In one save I caught Pat Rice in a moment of weakness, or he forgot his reading glasses or something and he signed as my Director of Football. Not been able to recreate this since though.

Even in FM 14, you could advertise for an open position, get a slew of applicants, and then half of them would refuse the open position offered and want a position that wasn't open.
