  1. The "fringe player" thing drives me nuts. He's a fringe player here... that's why he's listed for loan... Feels like I get LOADS of this in this version - more than I can recall previously.
  2. Yep - same site has the 23 version. https://www.fmscout.com/a-wannachup-fm23-instant-result-skin.html Let me know how you get on, interested to see if it gives you the old school vibes...:)
  3. Not gonna lie - the single biggest factor in me continuing to enjoy FM is this skin: https://www.fmscout.com/a-wannachup-fm24-instant-result-skin.html I like the club / squad building elements and I like to try to move through seasons somewhat quickly. I'm not bothered about coaching every match. This lets you sim the matches, so it really speeds a season up. Also - delegate all general training. The AI does it well enough if you hire it some decent staff. And I can already tell I'll be doing this with Set Pieces in FM24. And, all media questions. Still absolutely love the game and play every version like this. Appreciate that not everyone wants to play like this, but it works for me...:)
  4. Ever since there's been an option to leave it to AssMan, I have. My players develop fine for the most part. I tend to look after their individual training to try to help them succeed in my system but the team stuff I couldn't ever really be bothered with. My assumption is that he does an OK job, its probably possible to optimize, but its not that interesting so I don't.
  5. Football Manager, on the Spectrum 48. Oh god. I loved Ultimate Soccer Manager, I definitely played some Anstoss when living in Germany, and I worked for a short while on EA's Premier League Manager. CM2 was my first SI game. I've played everything they've ever made, since then...:)
  6. I spent a while figuring this out - over several FM's. I'm still not certain I have, but I do have some stuff I like to try. Some helpful soul on the forums pointed out to me that as you go on those incredible runs, other teams start to look at yours differently, so you need to adjust. Not so much on a per-game basis - I actually do my best to limit game to game fiddling. Just - how you go about playing on a month-to-month basis or over the course of seasons. Not sure I have stellar advice here and I'm not immune to changes in form / overall success over the course of a season, but I did learn to manage my expectations a bit. If you're a lethal attacking team, teams will try to figure out how to stop you or counter you. If you're the best defensive team in the league, teams might decide to keep it tight an challenge you to beat them. Don't just think about how to beat them - think about how they're going to try to beat you. Probably worth pointing out that not many top division teams go on 40-game unbeaten runs. You're going to regress to the mean. Take a look at your data and see where you are, and what might have changed. Other possibly helpful hint - I tend to find that experience, determination, leadership are all generally massively underestimated by human players, and not by the computer. A team full of wonderkids doesn't tend to be brilliant at unpicking why things are going wrong. Good luck. It's a fun challenge...:D
