Andyprime
to be good at long passes you need good technique but crap teams with poor technique are the ones that play long ball, am i missing some thing here or would it make sense to have 2 passing attributes short and long? Some Guy!
I don't think you understand the concept of the long ball game.
peter-evo
The 'long ball' game is used by teams with not as much quality as the opposition generally. The team normally has a big player called the 'target man' who flicks the ball on for the other striker who needs alot of pace. The point of it is that it can be used by teams who can not 'out pass' the opposition. This system is used commonly by Bolton, who pump it up to the head of Kevin Davies who flicks it on. It is also the key to Villa's success, they launch it to Carew who flicks it on to Agbonlahor. So basically, as long as they can hit the ball hard, have a big forward and have a fast forward it will work. No great players are needed.
Ozzy38
Incidentally Direct Ball is closer to what you're saying. Direct Ball is like long ball except they're accurate passes basically, sometimes long sometimes a bit shorter. The idea being that you get it up to the attacking third as fast as possible.
