Respected_Boss
Am i right in thinking if you boughta hard copy of FM2009 you dont NEED to run it through Steam? I personally could not find any way not to run it through Steam, i cant stand Steam, its nestled itself nicely in my toolbar and refuses to close whilst fm is running. It seems a totally uneccessary influence on my gaming experience, it took my long enough to realise the FM program files werent in the si folder but the steam folder. Any instructions on how to surgically remove this cancer from my pc without destroying anything to do with FM would be appreciated
BayernMB
I've bought the game from Steam and now I'm able to start the FM without starting Steam, so I don't know, where the problem is...

rusty_u
It's easy, browse to the Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2009 folder, and there you have FM.exe Run that to play the game without Steam.
Super Bladesman
You can also obviously create a shortcut to that FM.exe file, which you can double-click to start the game without starting Steam. I would imagine that Steam will automatically download and apply any patches that are released by SI, so you do of course risk missing out on them by not running Steam - so I'd recommend that you still do that every now and then, and certainly when you hear there's been a patch! BayernMB
I suppose that when there will be a new patch there will be an announcement up here, so no need to run Steam untill then.
