please help! data editor....

hi. when i double-click on the data editor the following warning appears:

"Unable to load resources. Couldn't find the data folder."

Why will it not let me go in to the editor?

Try uninstalling and then re-installing the game. Just an idea.

Where is the editor? I can't find it!

i can't find it either. do you have to add it when you install the game initially?

if your on vista right click the fm icon and its an option there

i cant find it anywhere all i have is steam icons its annoying me why have they done this? anyone know how to find it?

i had used steam and had same. so uninstalled it and then used the uniloc internet option to reintall. no probs its on in background

If you've installed using Steam, the editor will be something like c:/program files/valve/steam/steam apps/[Your Steam Account]/Football Manager 2009/FM Editor 2009.exe

I don't have the game yet to check for myself, but it will be something along those lines.

This is where Steam keeps the Data Editor:

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Football Manager 2009\Tools

As for the Data Editor not picking up the Data Folder. How did you install the game? Via Uniloc or Steam?

Is the game running normally?

Hi Steve. Followed the path you gave and got there, however when i try to start the editor i get a message saying ''The editor has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect''

Any tips?

i had the same error as the original poster. when i tried to load the editor, i get an error message saying "Unable to load resources! Couldn't find the data folder!". I bought the game from asda this morning and have authenticated it using steam, if that helps.

i searched for the error message on the forums and found this thread, but i couldnt find an answer in this thread.

reinstalling the game is a last resort for me because with all the DRM fuss i dont really want to waste 2 installs in my first day of getting the game, so can someone please help??

Had the same message and tried reinstalling, on both steam and uniloc, but still comes up with the same message?

Wouldn't recommend this by the way, takes f***in ages!

after trying to load the data editor and getting the error message in my previous post, it will now load 10 minutes later, even though i have the exact same programs running as earlier and i havent changed anything

I have got the game but can't access editor either... mind due looking on my PC files i have two installed atm! One through Steam and one in location with all my files from boxed version - both come up with msg...

I have reinstalled box version and still get the same message! Can't unistall steam!

Over 7 hours wasted today... what a joke this has become... i'm glad children in need was on... would rather have given my £30 to Wogan and co. Sort it out SI...
