the installation of football manager 2009 is finished, but some errors have occured

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Wow ... it's a long time since I've been in here, but I've got a problem.

I went to the World Cup and spent five weeks in Joburg with my sister and her family - that's not the problem, though the football was pretty dire ;).

My 15yo nephew really got into FM while I was out there as I had 2010 loaded on my laptop and he'd often watch me play and was fascinated by it all ...

I tried to get him a copy locally, but nobody stocked it and only a couple of places had even heard of it.

I managed to get an old copy of Champ Manager 2006 or something but it was nowhere near as good, obviously.

They don't have eBay in SA, nor do they have Amazon - both sites refuse to deliver due to problems they've had historically with parcels going missing on arrival in the country, etc,

So ... while I was there, I bid for a copy of FM2009 and picked it up for a few quid. I posted it to him when I got back along with a load of Subbuteo stuff - but that's another story.

Sorry !

This is a ramble.

Bottom line : FM2009 won't load on his computer for some reason and I wondered if anyone could help me with the installation ?

It's difficult from a distance, but this is what he's said so far :

"Ya thank you uncle paul for everything it looks great i really like the stuff you sent me unfortunatly the game's pass code has already been used so it cant load do you no what to do?"

and then I asked him specifically what the error message says :

"the installation of football manager 2009 is finished, but some errors have occured during install. Please see the instalation log for details."

Would I be right in thinking that once the game's loaded and installed on one machine, using the keycode, it can't be run on another ??

I'm sure I've put it on both my laptop and my desktop in the past ... that seems wrong to me.

Anybody got any ideas ??

Thanks in advance .. and sorry for the lengthy post ...

FM09 is a dvd so you should make sure that the computer your trying to install on has one. You should make sure that the computer your trying to install fm09 on meets the minimum requirements which you'll find on the back of the case it came in. Then you should make sure that your computer has updated graphics card drivers, directx and java.

You'll get updated drivers from the manufacturer of your card.

You'll get the latest direct x from http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/aboutGFW/pages/directx.aspx

You'll get the latest java from http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Wasn't FM2009 the one that you had to validate using Steam ? If so the pass code would be used and unless whoever you bought the game off gives up their 'seat' then it won't be usable.

Get a copy of FM10 and send it to the lad.

I thought the last patch removed the need for cd key on FM09....I could be wrong mind.

We’re pleased to announce the release of a new patch for Football Manager 2009.

This 9.3.1 patch removes the need for activation on the game via Uniloc. We’re aware some users have had issues where they’ve been asked to reactivate the game – the fixes included here will disable any need for activation.

The patches can be downloaded from the following locations:

FM2009 PC Patch - Direct Download: http://segaeu.vo.llnwd.net/o37/FM200...1_PC_Patch.exe

FM2009 PC Patch - Torrent Download: http://torrents.sigames.com:7000/tor...C8B5883E431FCA

WSM2009 PC Patch - Direct Download: http://segaeu.vo.llnwd.net/o37/WSM20...1_PC_Patch.exe

WSM2009 PC Patch - Torrent Download: http://torrents.sigames.com:7000/tor...C8B5883E431FCA

As always the patch is fully save-game compatible, just patch up and continue your old save game if you wish.

Because this issue does not affect Macs there is no Mac patch.

I stand corrected. Hats off to you Jedaye. Rigger, can your nephew download 9.3.1 ? If so he should try to patch his installation with that and see what happens.
