Hi, can anybody tell me where I save the directly downloaded patch to?

Just save it to a random folder, for instance your desktop. The patch will locate the game folder and take it from there after you've clicked it.

It's saying it needs a file to open it?

Add .exe to the end of the file name

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but some people have had some trouble getting their file running because sometimes it will download without the .exe extension added to the file. You can do this manually if this is the case. Just rename the file and add ".exe" (without the quotation marks) to the end of the file.
