Wizard
I'm not sure if this has been asked for before... I find myself rather restless with FM08 lately...don't get me wrong...despite its many flaws, I still enjoy the game very much... But...I've been itching to get the passion back...and I think back to when I first got addicted to this game...and I wondered... Would it be possible to have a database (I understand it wouldn't be realistic to have it on the disc...) of all previous versions' "starting season" uploaded somewhere on this site....where we can say, download and go back to the 1995 season...and play it using the latest game version? Wouldn't it be great to have a young Ronaldo (the fat one)...or Figo as a hot prospect...or Buy Zidane / Beckham / Nesta as youngsters...even, dare I say it....buy Maldini in his prime???? Oo ah Cantona (in 2-D action??)???? Let me have a go at ol' Red nose before he got knighted...or take charge of Leeds when it was still fashionable?? In a way...we can 'change' history by virtue of our interference with training and our wheeling and dealing in the market...uncover some gems (who maybe have fallen into oblivion simply because they didn't get 7-star training...) and see what 2008 brings when we have hammered through many seasons?? Well...any chance of this happening??

backpackant
I'd say the chances of this happening are zero. It would be too specialist. If you really wanted this you could play with something similar in the official FM editor by taking current youth players and upping their potential and changing their names etc. Maybe take the Ronaldo or Figo that are already there and change their ages. Their CA will stay the same but so will their PA, which means you can develop them back to their former glory. Or just use FMM to edit newgens etc.
MarcovanBasten
Wizard, Great idea, I'd love to see that as well would be fantastic.
Nomis07
I like your suggestions, although I wouldn't need it because I can still play CM 96/97 on my old computer and I have all the games through to FM08. Here's a link to a few downloadable databases, which may interest you though, i've tried the European super league and it's pretty cool, the Busby Babes one is very very appealing as well. But methinks you've missed my point slightly...I have all the previous versions too...but...playing with players from yester-year using the latest match engine is what I'm talking about... Anyhoo...will have a go with your link and see what I can find...
Pauljs
the problem is all the old players for the lesser teams through the years would need to be in a database aswell, i.e Bury & Bury Reserves would need to be in from 1995, then all the Bury new players through the years need to be on the database so that they appear at the appropriate time, it would be a massive database
Pauljs
actually, did you just mean use the 1995 database and not have real regens? i think that would be ok

This means that Cristiano Ronaldo may not ever appear, nor Messi, nor Rooney and so on (unless we use daatabase on years that they 'burst' onto the scene...so if you really like Rooney for instance, you can start with the season he came on as a fresh 16 year old and take it from there...)...but the game will produce regen as normal and someone as good will come through... The idea is to have the original database of older seasons for use in the newest match engine... Another plus is the many older 'legends' can then move into coaching and ass. management too... sydfc4ever
personally i think having a db like this would take the unpredicability out of FM. if you started in say 95, you would already know that certain players are going to be great and would sign guys like Stevie G straight away and train then, rather than the random players who come good now. just my though anyway. Zoiberg
I just was working on a 1995 DB for 08, but i don't longer have time to improve it, so here it is for download in case you wanna give it a try : http://www.megaupload.com/es/?d=KIW8C5NC Any feedback and help will be thanked. He may or may not be in the database... Fair enough...I take your point...but it would be the same for any season, pretty much...don't forget that signing only 'wonderkids' won't do...one needs a balanced, full squad... On top of that, things WILL not turn out as we know as history....many of the present day 'greats' won't emerge because they will not have been added to the base...and plenty of unknown regens will take centrestage after 8-10 seasons...
