Central Defenders

ive tried everything that i can think of to get one of my CDef to stroll forward sometimes when my team attack, run with ball, forward runs, creative freedom high and even roam from position but they always stick to position is it possible to make it happen?

have one of them on Ball playing defenders

yeah, tell them to support, also make sure they are a ball playing defender (at least thats what I think they are called)

Just looked, only has stopper, cover or defend options, no support

I could never make them go foward neither, my defender even have the gets foward whenever possible and run with the ball down left ppm but still he never goes to attack.

This is a bit of a worry then.

I guess it's rare to see centre backs get forward often but the likes of Toure and Vermaelen sometimes have surging runs forward.

I'd like this looked at in more detail to see if it's possible at all.

If I was playing an old fashioned 5-3-2 with a sweeper I'd expect him to get forward ala Matthaus or Sammer.

yeah obviously there meant to defend firstly but i used to like big Lucio at munich for his crazy runs with the ball nad when its in each players options i thought it would have worked the same
