R-dizzle
4-4-2, in my experience, as required playing strong center midfielders and fast wingers, usually have one of them play as a holding midfielder just falling back infront of the back four to give support. Its how I play atm and its given me some success. But remember that if you're going to 4-4-2 from playing as something like 5-4-1 or 4-3-3 etc then your players will need some time to adapt. Yonezzz
Well, I'm no expert at all, so you're probably best off looking at something like Knap's thread here.
spudgun3000withextraonions
I use a 4-4-2 with one cm more defensive, one more attacking. The rm/lm are generally techinical players who can play in the centre too. The use throughballs and rarely cross. I use the full backs to do the crossing. Works pretty well for me. AbsoluteGenius
4-4-2 is good for average teams. The best teams can use more creative and dynamic formations.
Stantoner
i like 4-4-2, its fairly defensive, direct, high tempo, deepish defence and counter attack with tight marking, then usually set the individual player to his stats, so if he can dribble i'll have him run with the ball ect..
