IbrahimAliMaher
What's the worst stadium you've ever seen used for a major final? I just played a CL final at the following venue: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Breydel_Stadium It has a capacity of less than 30,000, and my scout told me it has a narrow pitch which played right into the hands of my opposition with a narrow 4-1-3-2 formation, bloody UEFA... BenArsenal
That's not right. It should be Heysel if they wanted it in Belgium.
Ediocy
Did the Jan Breydel Stadium get an expansion in your game, IbrahimAliMaher? I guess it would be plausible for that stadium to have hosted the UCL Final if it had been 'upgraded' to a UEFA five star stadium within the game. IbrahimAliMaher
I'll check it later but I'm sceptical. Surely for a CL final you'd need a capacity of 50,000 minimum? I doubt that's feasible with a sub 30,000 stadium...christ Hillsborough's bigger than that, I can't see us getting too many CL finals...
BenArsenal
30,000 is enough, but Platini prefers 70,000 minimum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Elite_stadium Full UEFA regulations here: http://www.uefa.com/newsfiles/551788.pdf
Ediocy
Ah I had not realised there was a change in the UEFA categorisation of stadia, thanks for the links!
IbrahimAliMaher
Lol I'd like to see the UEFA delegates going round cramming people onto subs benches and into changing rooms to meet the criteria. Ok, maybe 30,000 is in the rules but I can't think of a venue that's been less than 40-50,000 IRL. Teams big enough to make the CL final tend to have more than 20,000 fans right? Even somebody like Wigan would probably fill their allocation.
jack_man
IIRC someone posted a screenie of it being in or Dundork in Ireland, FM08 i think though.

Capacity: 29,042 all seater Pitch dimensions: 110 x 65m which by those rules is an illegal choice of stadium (unless they relaxed those regulations quite a bit). Now you may say both teams had to play on the same pitch but Barcelona were clearly favoured by such a lack of width with their 4-1-3-2 (I play quite wide). If there was such a thing as a legal challenge in this game i would make one, instead I shall have to make do with the moral high ground. Anyone else buy this (flimsy) excuse?
