Hi

I need urgent assistance. After downloading the 4 skins from the below thread:

http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=101106

I extracted the rar file and open FM2009 to apply the skins. Now, every time I load FM2009, it will "hang" after the short introduction advertistisement, it will not show the next screen. The screen where I can load my save game.

I have uninstalled my FM2009, and re-installed, the same problem still exist.

Could the experts lend me some advice?

Thanks a lot...

First of all, please do not post in colour. Black text is good and easy on the eye.

Anyway, have you tried deleting the said skins from your My Documents folder and then tried to run the game ? The default skin should work.

1. I note your advice for the font colour.

2. I have deleted all the installed skins.

a) Re-started my computer 2 times (problem still persists)

b) Un-installed the FM2009 2 times & re-installed (problem still persists)

I think, there are some files relating to the skins or graphics which I need to delete too. Could you offer me some advice?

And, further advice on how to re-use my earlier saved games. I am now into Season 4, and I can't imagine having to start all over again...

I am running on Window Vista.

Thanks a lot ...

You need to follow the installation instructions in the first post of the thread you linked to above.

If you put the skins into the wrong folder in the first place and deleting them doesn't fix the problem you may need to delete the cache files (note you may need to enable hidden files first):

How to delete your Cache files

Windows XP:

1. Open “My Computer”

2. Navigate to : “Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\

3. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder.

4. Delete the “Football Manager XX” Folder.

Wndows Vista:

1. Click “Start”

2. Click your username on the start Menu

3. Click on “AppData” and then “Roaming”

4. Go into the “Sports Interactive” Folder

5. Delete the “Football Manager XX” Folder.

Mac OSX

1. Open Finder.

2. Select <User>

3. Navigate to Library\Caches\Sports Interactive

4. Remove the “Football Manager XX” Folder.

If you have previously selected a skin you installed wrong you may also need to reset your preferences:

If you have a shortcut on your desktop you can do the following:

  • Right-click on the FM shortcut.
  • Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
  • In the "Target" field, add the --reset_preferences command line option after "fm.exe", so it should look like this:
    "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\fm.exe" --reset_preferences
  • Press OK and then try to run the game as normal, using the shortcut.

You'll want to remove the command after you run the game, as otherwise it will continue to reset your preferences every time you launch.

If you don't have a shortcut you can make one and then perform the instructions on the shortcut you've made.

  • If you purchased and installed the game through Steam you should be able to find the fm.exe in the following directory:
    C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Football Manager 2009/
  • If you purchased and installed the game from a boxed DVD copy you should be able to find the fm.exe in the following directory:
    C:/Program Files/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/
