If you move all data from Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovenia, Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia over to Serbia and rename Serbia to Yugoslavia, it works too. That's what I have done in my Iron Curtain mod.

Alternatively you can activate Yugoslavia. For that, you need to add the continent, which is described in this thread (last post by Unknown Hacker. You then have to move all data to Yugoslavia AND recreate the European Cups if you want Yugoslavia in the Cups and the ex-Yugoslav countries out.

That's why renaming Serbia is quite a bit easier.

Not sure what your friend means with programming btw. Unless he is trying to impress you with what is described in the thread I linked

I replied to you on your topic，I don't think it's a simple way to rename Serbia，because the team logo I use is matched.

My friend probably made a simple replacement through some programming software，No need to recreate  the cup.

He also specifically told me not to open his database file with an editor, otherwise it would fail

I advise you against using databases not being build with the editor. The editor is specifically build to create contact that works with the game.
