Vertical Passing

What is the best way to achieve vertical passing in FM? Flat, more direct passes through the opposition lines to your players in advanced position. There seems to be no direct instruction to achieve this.

Higher mentalities will make players prefer to play forward rather than taking safer backwards options.  Distance is a separate setting, so could have shorter or more direct vertical passing.

Of course higher mentality affects many other things so need to consider them, especially roles+duties.
