Tartime
I'm playing a 4-5-1 and my forward isn't very quick (poacher) or very strong/tall (target man), would it work using him as a trequartista? He has the stats for it but would it work with that formation?
michaelthestrange
It worked for me in my HSV save. Make sure your Inside Forwards are getting forward as well as at least one, preferably two of you central midfielders. This way they run behind your trequartista and he is able to play a through ball. Have a look at this picture. This is what it usually looks like: The Trequartista (Petric) receives the ball from the MCl (Aogo) and the wingers (orange) are making attacking runs as well as the MCr (yellow). My Fullbacks provide options out wide (blue). The only problem is that your striker won't score a lot.
Marsupian
Yes you need other players getting into goal scoring positions if you play with a trequartista. If you play a trequartista with two inside forwards on the flanks it becomes similar to the 1-2 of a 4-1-2-1-2 with the two strikers starting wider and the trequartista dropping deep from the front. It works brilliantly especially if you have an MC who gets forward like michaelthestrange does.
Robert the Spud
He'd be like a false 9, and i actually had success with this at Tottenham, with VdV in that very role. It depends on one of your MC's getting into the box and the inside forwards, but yes, it can work.
