  1. I think adding league registration rules and financial fair play would be steering away from the core idea of FMC. It's still curious to me why people want it in.

One of the things that I'd like is more "serious" looking skins as an option. A lot of people are put off by cartoony skins we have now and thus they don't give the game a fair try.

  2. After reading what some people want, my wish is that team/player/staff/media interaction remain exactly as they are, or they could even be completely nullified! Having them on sidelines like they are is exactly the reason I enjoy FMC this much.

I feel player morale doesn't have as big of an impact and that's exactly what I wanted.

If it was changed in any way to bring it closer to how things are done in full FM, it would drive me further away from the game, leaving me with no options!

  3. First of, this is absolutely fantastic job! So much effort is put into it it's amazing.

However, so far things have mostly been on theoretical side, not really connecting much with FM world (except the obvious segments). As it is, I feel it's much more useful to those who have already mastered the tactical world of FM, and not so much for those struggling to prepare certain styles, read matches and coming up with the right tweaks etc.

Please don't take it the wrong way, it's just a suggestion and a hope it will at one point become more down to Earth and focus on exact advice in FM terms. :)

We've talked about this formation in another thread, but since it's here know it feels suitable to ask a few questions.

How tied are team mentality and striker isolation problem? In other words, in the setup above, what would be the most advisable mentality(s)?

In the past I've tried to create something like that, but with Counter mentality and the problem was always the same, but with two sides of the coin:

    a) if I use a support striker, he drops too deep, gets the ball and we can't get out of our half, because we're all pressed.

    b) if I use an attack striker, he stays up, but all my team does when in possession is lump it forward to him. He sometimes gets the ball, but have no one to lay it off to.

I've used your tactic with both Standard and Control and I've also seen the team playing long balls to the striker, but it seems to work a bit better because the entire team is positioned higher up the pitch.

Generally speaking, a 4-1-4-1 is defensively solid by its nature, but what would be the most viable mentalities to use it with?

  5. Do you have a good ball playing defender that could help play the ball in ahead of the Wing Backs.

    No, I don't.

My idea with this tactic is that the wingbacks don't storm forward until we move the ball out of defence. I wanted them to be involved in the initial build-up and then provide forward runs. This way they're both just waiting alongside central mids for the ball to get to them which is the opposite of what I want from them.

  6. Well if they are getting too ahead of play then what does logic tell you to do? Either make them support or move them back to FB positions and keep the role so they stay deeper. You've gave them attacking roles so when you get possession they are being aggressive in their approach and looking to move forward. So if that's not what you want then use either of those options.

You have to remember you use a regista which is a playmaker so he's more inclined to see the ball and pass it around. It could be a case that the playmaker you use doesn't have great decisions, creativity or teamwork to pick them out early enough if that's the case then he's probably staying on the ball longer than is needed as he can't see all available options and because of how you attack the regista may not be the role you need.

I've tried it, that's the thing. I've tried them as CWB and WB on attack and on support, on fullback positions and wingback positions. It just doesn't change a thing with the way they behave; once the GK passes to a defender, they both storm to the half line and stand there.

It's moment like this where I'm really put off FM, I see what's the tactical problem, but have no idea how to solve it and everything I try doesn't change a thing.

  7. Without opening a new thread, I'll try to get help here.

    That's the setup.

The main problem I immediately noticed is right from the goal-kick. I set my GK to distribute to defenders. He does so, and soon as the ball gets to one of the CDs, the wingbacks storm forward to about half line. Regista drops deeper and then him and CDs pass to each other until one of them hoofs it up front, which usually results in lost possession. There is a huge gap between the defensive line and 4 players who stood around half line - wingbacks and both CMs.

Having "hold position" on wingbacks doesn't help, they still behave the same. Changing the DM to a role which doesn't drop back, like DM on support or defend, usually leaves him marked and then the result is the same; CDs pass to each other with no other passing option and then the hoofing ensues again.

What to do? How to move the ball up field reliably?

  8. what winds me up the most? Thanks for asking go on then...

I spend hours trawling these forums and reading up on supposed pairings and roles that compliment each other, then I have these two mates. One sends me a photo of his tactics in which he plays two (yes two) ball winning midfielders in centre mid (nothing else) and finishes 2nd in the first season with everton. My other friend has zero team instructions and 'standard' plays 4-2CMs-2AML/R-2st essentially a 4-2-4 and gets promoted with York into league one and batters teams. It seems that half the stuff written on this forum is a load of tosh!

It's harsh to say it's a load of tosh, but sometimes it does get confusing. I've also seen a guy winning the PL in the first season with Newcastle using two CWB in the back four, two BWM in midfield, two IF on attack, one AMC on attack and a poacher. On top of that, he used attacking mentality.

It goes pretty much against everything I've seen on the forums guides and it's really disheartening.

  9. What to do when the opposition is pressing me really high up the pitch and I'm already using a deep defensive line, playing counter 4141?

Either the GK kicks it forward and we lose the ball immediately or he passes to defender who is then under pressure, misplaces a short pas or lumps it forward, in both cases resulting in us losing the ball again.

What to do tactically to carry the ball forward and exploit the space behind the pressing opposition?

  10. 1)Regarding wingers: It seems no matter where they get the ball on the field they 'always' seem to run to the corner/byline and then instead of crossing they wait for the fullback and at times another player to close them down then one of three things happens, 1)he gets tackled 2)he tries to get a corner but fails 3) he passes back to a CM. Is there a way to get him to cross the ball before he's closed down etc? Also is there a way to get them to run in a straight line instead of always heading to the corner?

I repeat this question since it's really annoying me every match and I can't find a plausible solution.

  11. I suspect that your players are getting to the byline, the defenders get into position and so they don't cross because your guy may now be marked.

That happens to me a lot. Is there a way to force my winger to try to cross regardless of the fact his marker is one metre ahead of him, i.e. close to him? It's really frustrating to watch my winger run with the ball down the wing right to the byline and then passing the ball back to running CM who's blasting it from 25m.

  12. I'm going to try to get an answer to this without opening a new thread.

This is my tactic, and I'd like your opinion what's wrong with it. The movement seems nice, the combination play looks ok, but I have a ridiculous amount of long shots every match so it leads me to conclusion something is wrong with it.

I thought at first that IFs are getting into space BBM and AP are stepping up into so I switched them to Wa-Ws combination and it looks a bit better, but still far too many long shots, which equals dropped points.
