SEASON 2021-2022 | PREVIEW
Commonly first pre-season of the save is a long process for me - a lot of tuning here and there, creating all possible custom views, making shortlists, drawing spreadsheets with desirable staff structure for the future, etc. And of course It`s time for evaluating the squad with its strengths and weaknesses.

I think our squad is strong enough for meeting expectations from the board on this season. Though I don`t like the fact we have too many loaned players. Gaya and Soler are not only leaders but the core and orienteer for my project.
Top Prospects (images are clickable)
A very good mix of fantastic academy products and talented young players found abroad. I didn`t include in this list Duro, Gil and Moriba as they are on loan and not the fact they will remain in the club for the next season.
Expected starting XI and "second" squad
Of course there is possibility of changes as we still didn`t play even the first pre-season match. And this two squads I didn`t find place for Mamardashvili, Cheryshev, Andre but all of them have chances for minutes on the pitch.
Board expectations
Board is not too ambitious but this is good for now as last seasons were awful.

Thanks. I also like regional saves but in my case it`s on very light mode as restrictions apply only on young players.

The owner of the team Peter Lim announces the start of the procedure for the club's sale. The new owner will be announced shortly.
July 1st, 2021
32-year-old Alicante born businessman Enrique Riquelme announces the club's takeover.
Born in 1989 in Cox (Alicante) Spain, Enrique Riquelme Vives is the Chairman, founder and President of Cox Energy, a renewable solar energy company, with multiple business lines, of which the following stand out: electricity generation through own photovoltaic projects, selling of fully renewable energy, and self-consumption.
What does it mean for Valencia?
- Riquelme wants to bring in new approach to club managing, relying on professionals who have strong roots with the club and Valencian Community.
- Fans shouldn`t expect serious money injections. New board wants to stabilize financial situation in the club and work towards being self-sustainable. Riquelme bought the loan from the former owner of the club, but there are still 3 large loans from banks and the loan from the state.
- Much more attention to the club academy. One of the main long-term goals of Riquelme is to build the team based on home-grown players.

Main principles and goals of the save
- Return the the former glory to the club. Finally win Champions League;
- Focus on developing young players;
- The only transfer restriction: all the players under 18 y.o. signed to the club should be born in Valencian Community or be home-grown (0-21) for the club based in Valencian community;
- Entertaining and modern football.

In comparison with last season we`ve performed slightly worse but I can`t complain. Another 100+ points season, another knock-out stage in CL and two local cups in our collection again.

2031-2032| APRIL - MAY UPDATE
We finished the season on a major note with very nice victory over Rangers and the win in Scottish Cup over uncomfortable for us opponent - Hearts. Earlier we lost two league games to them in this season.

2031-2032| MARCH UPDATE
We had no chances at home games vs. Man City. May be we could perform better but City is giant and at this moment we are far from them. Another not so pleasant moment is away lose to Dunfermline.

And again intake is absolutely frustrating. A lot of youngsters with "bad" personalities.

Probably most talented ones but with their personalities I doubt about their future.

2031-2032| FEBRUARY UPDATE
Very tough calendar with 8 games in 24 days. I don`t remember when we lost last time at home in the league but this is happened in derby match. But most important matches where near to the end of February. We got decent result at Etihad Stadium not without luck and then beat Rangers in Cup.

2031-2032| JANUARY UPDATE

Yes, this is happened. I just had no chances to refuse this offer. It`s Barcelona and it's 75M pounds. Aguilar is already best keeper in the world (or on of the best) and the future should be bright for him at Camp Nou. We broke club and nation record for transfer fee received.

Gavin returns after 1.5 seasons in Leicester. 40M is dubious price but on the other hand we sold him 2 years ago for 45M.
Serious injury of our young star Smith forced us to look for quick replacement and this Greece talent is very good option I think.
We didn`t lost any point since 19th of October in all competitions but all big matches are ahead of us.

2031-2032|DECEMBER UPDATE
We started December with 3 big matches in a row. And all of them were won in best fashion. So we finish calendar year with very comfortable distance from Rangers and with unbeatable run in CL. Our opponent in first knockout round is...Man City. Again! Last season we were better, let`s hope that we could repeat those success.

September started with two big matches against Rangers and Ajax and pleasantly these games were won. Our academy graduates McLeish and Miller both in a very good form on their wings.

Another example of good business. Ferguson was signed for free 4 years ago, spent almost all the time on loans out and finally left the club for good 16M.

Recruitment
Two team leaders left this summer. We had very low chances to keep one of the best academy graduates in Celtic history David McMillan. Atletico and La Liga is a good step forward for him. We will follow his progress and wish him best of luck.
Another big sale is Jorgensen. Here it`s pure business. Signed for free last summer and sold to Real for almost 40M pounds - great deal for 29 y.o. Norwegian.
Also a group of young players left the club including Shaw and Shewan. Reason is common - their potential doesn`t allow them to pretend for stable first team members in the future so It`s a chance for them to progress in less powerful teams.
New signings (player profiles are clickable)
Saint-Etienne academy graduate who spend last two seasons on loan at Braga. Fantastic dribbling alongside with good physics and creator` skills.
Slightly controversial signing as we have a lot of good players in his position but I just couldn't get past this opportunity to sign for free such a skillful player. Probably will retrain him for IW role on the left flank.
Yong player for U19 team with a very high potential. Signed from Hearts.

A really great progress with the club and I like your tactical ideas.
And I want to ask: do you know why the league always starts so late in September - is it a bug? And how do you manage your pre-season when almost from the start of it you have European matches. In my save with PAO it looks like I will have the same schedule. It really confuses me as I always pay a lot of attention to preparation for a season.

END OF SEASON REVIEW
Competitions Review
The best season so far for me at Celtic. We finished the season unbeatable in the league and during all tournaments this season we lost only two matches and all of them in UCL: Ajax at group stages and Barcelona in Semi-Final. In UCL we looked really great but were not so lucky with the draw in knockout rounds: two Manchester sides and Barca.
We started this season with quite experimental narrow 4-3-1-2 formation but predictably were very vulnerable at the flanks in defense so from 1st January I transformed our tactic to high-pressing 4-3-3 and it gave a lot of benefits to our play and I think style that we implemented really suits us.

Perfect end of this great unbeatable season. Our fans should be on the 7th heaven after 5-1 win in Derby.
UEFA Champions League
Despite the loss I`m proud for my boys. Our level of football was outstanding in these two legs even with some key players being out but Barca is the top of the tops. In the final they beat Lyon and clinched the trophy.
Scottish Cup Final
2nd tier Livingston made a real sensation reaching the final. But for us this match was an easy walk.

Crushing win over Hibs secured for us another title!

!!! What a legendary match at Celtic Park! Miller who even wasn`t considered as senior team player in first half of the season made so important hat-trick.
Before the Semi Final we lost Aguilar with sudden injury and during the match Gomez also got injured. But we managed to secure a draw and will fight till the end in the second leg,

Good show for spectaculars of both clubs but we are going to the final.

What a magnificent month. 23 goals scored and 0 conceded only in 4 matches and another Old Derby win.

I`m really happy how solid we looked in these two legs. Home match was like a mirror of fixture week ago - solid defensive work and goal from Grady in counter attack.

Great month! Even the loss of points against Harts didn't upset me. 9-1 win over Dundee Utd is probably one of the best games in my career and it`s especially fantastic considering that we played away from home.

We`ve done the job perfectly. Didn`t allowed too much for Haaland and Co, and found the chance to score in quick attack. If we could play the same way at second match I think we have chances to go through.
