Just comparing the 21.3 data to the original db for Spurs and noticed that Japhet Tanganga has had twenty points knocked off of his CA. Surely some sort of error there? I can understand a few points getting knocked off but 20 seems excessive for anyone.
If I was a betting man I'd say the Spurs researcher had thick fingers and accidentally typed 110 instead of 120

Hi, regarding Spurs I replied to your private mail before I saw this one. As advised the Spurs changes will be implemented in the winter data update.

State what you think is specifically wrong with a particular piece of data:
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg marking of 10 seems low given the role and impact he is having playing that role for Spurs.
State what you think the data should be:
I think this should be at least 12. For context, Sissoko is 11, Winks 12, Ndombele 13. You wouldn't say that Hojbjerg is the worst marker of the four.
State reasons/proof for your suggested corrections/improvements.
It can be tough to provide statistical evidence on marking per se, as I'm not sure what the exact metric would be, you can't really count 'marking'. However, looking at his defensive stats from last season, specifically duels won and lost, the ratios could support my argument for him to have better marking.
"Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a very good presser and marker. Not only can he adjust to man marking responsibilities, but he can adapt to zonal marking tactics as well. He is an expert in recovering balls. Last season in the Premier League, he was the midfielder with the most ball recoveries in the final third"
I have found a 'Welcome to Spurs' video uploaded to YouTube three weeks ago. I'd like to point out these are not my favourite sorts of content but you can clearly see how well he performs in marking. Look at the job he did on Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, for example. There are plenty more examples in this clip: youtube.com/watch?v=LWF0jyMK5t0
Appreciate that this may not yet be the finished version, but as he currently is in the game, he's not somebody that you would expect to keep long-term in the save, perhaps even suggesting that he needs a bump up in CA.
Hi, thanks for your post and the evidence to back it up. Hojbjerg's stats were set by the Southampton researcher. I'll review and make changes for the winter update, depending on how he performs between now and then.

Crossposting from the Wales thread, Gareth Bale is showing as a half star recommendation in Wales squads in every role/position, and in my experiences so far doesn't get picked for the national team in saves. Had a look at his profile and don't see any reason why. He's rated fine with Spurs. The players picked ahead of him for Wales are way below him even allowing for funny calculations of his best position.
This happened in my game too. Although in a friend's game it wasn't happening, so appears to be a bug of some sort.

Gareth bales loan contract to Tottenham is not correct. There is no option to extend the loan for a second season. Also he is massively underated. I find it hard to believe all these others strikers that are better in most areas. His mentality is to low, his vision is Miles better in real life, his technique should be second to none and his attacking should be better. For someone world class he has got terrible ratings.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. The loan extension issue was previously raised and should be fixed in time for the offiicial release.
Regarding his stats, they were set by the Real Madrid researcher. I'll review and almost certainly make some significant adjustments in the winter data update depending on how he plays between now and then.

Why has Kane got 20 rating for pens with an 85% conversion rate in his career, whilst noble who has a 90% conversion rate has 18? Guy hasn't missed in 4 years give him some respect
The above is facts not opinion.Kane has become an exceptional penalty taker over the last few seasons. Even if the keeper dives the correct way it's rare they can get anywhere near the ball because his power and accuracy is so good. Also the penalty taking stat is reflective of the current situation and not an all time stat. That said, I think Noble deserves 20 on his too as he is also an exceptional penalty taker.

Managing Spurs & Joe Hart has a squad status of First Choice Goalkeeper - After 8 league games (all wins) he is complaining about a lack of starts. He started the 3 euro games. Should his status start as back up? Thanks

Hi, I have had the same problem in my Spurs save. I'll have his reputation lowered.

Gareth Bale had a knee injury upon signing for Tottenham this year.

Believe they discovered it when he joined?
He picked it up on international duty after the season had started, but before he signed for Spurs.
@Pete Sottrel - what are your thoughts? My understanding was that injuries that made a player miss the first game of the season was the cut off and not the end of the transfer window?

Thanks, I'll look into these.
Regarding Pleat, I don't think he scouts for Spurs officially but he has provided input every now and then. As the article above highlights, it was more a call from Levy to Pleat to get Pleat's opinion rather than having Pleat specifically scouting Alli.

Ben Davies is a HGN for Tottenham. He an register as HGN for Premier League, but not Euro Cup.
Hi, this isn't a data issue and my understanding is that because Davies didn't come through the youth ranks at Spurs, and isn't English, he isn't classified as homegrown for European competition.

A really random one that I'll fully accept if you don't put in!
Tottenham fitness coach Elliot Ferguson-Dillon is a Chelsea supporter. Source: his Linkedin showing he played for them a youth level, plus my own knowledge from having been to school with him (he'd have been a decent player if he had a second foot...)
Thanks for that information, I'll make sure it gets added!

Hi All,
Son's stats have been increased this year.
As others have stated I've been broadly happy with the way he his career pans out under the AI. They are often pan out close to real life (which is always my goal) and are usually slightly more positive than real life.
I think there are two key things that need to be considered when it comes to Son's performances.
1 - If you're managing him then you have to play a system that suits him to get the best out of him. As recently demonstrated in real life, Son comes into his own when counter attacking. I think his composure has certainly improved over the last couple of years (he used to fluff a lot of one on ones) and now on the counter he is deadly. If your tactic is a high line and high possession game then you aren't playing to his strengths and you may not get the output you're looking for.
2 - Consistency is a key thing to consider. Son can be a streaky player. He'll have a few great games and then a few games where he is poor and offers little (I'd say that this has been a problem with a few Spurs players over the last few years, including Eriksen, Alli etc). So sometimes in the game you may have trouble getting Son performing because of that consistency.
We'll see how he pans out in the latest release!

I'm cautiously optimistic about this. AI transfers has been a bugbear for me for a long time. If that has truly been improved then that will almost certainly have me upgrade to this version. I hope this intelligence has also been applied to Management and Backroom Staff approaches and appointments.

The coaches issue is a great shout. Easy to fix in the current system too as a quick workaround before the module is overhauled.
Unfortunately I don't think it is an easy fix. I've raised the excessive amount of coaches issue a few times over the last three versions and nothing has been done about it. So it's probably integral to the game until a full revamp.

Wait for the demo and you and check it out for free then
I know that's the stock response but it doesn't work out. There are other areas of the game that desperately require improvement that you can't see from the demo whether they've been fixed. E.g. regens, sensible player transfers, sensible managerial appointments, whether backroom staff listed as favourites follow the manager from one club to another like in real life etc.

I'm really undecided whether to buy FM18 or stick with FM17. I am loathe to stick with FM17 because I keep getting the intermittent bug where the German leagues lose their fixtures but all I have seen in FM18 from these previews is more micro management in areas that I am not really interested in. Like a lot of the other areas currently in the game I can probably just ignore them without any meaningful impact to the experience (OI's definitely springs to mind!) but I don't really want to spend close to £40 to find that out.
I don't mind training at the moment but I really hope they fix the one issue that I have requested over the last couple of years. The fact you need a ridiculous amount of coaches. Taking Spurs as an example in real life you have Poch, his assistant, one "standard" coach, one goalkeeping coach and a fitness coach. And the fitness coach works mainly with the Assistant Manager who is also a fitness coach. That's it and that's all that is needed. In FM you need at least two goalkeeping coaches, usually three if you want an U23 one too, multiple outfield coaches etc. It's all very unrealistic.

Anyone else finding that Vardy is a goal machine in their game?

the midfielders joining the attack was an issue in the last update but it seems to have got worse.
I'm finding the opposite. I'm actually impressed at how many bodies I am getting in the box. Not uncommon for me to have four or five players in there.

Playing as Spurs. I'm finding the results a little crazy at times but I am enjoying the game a lot more than the previous two versions already. Just beat Chelsea 6-5 at their place despite giving them a two goal head start. Smashed City 6-2 at their place as well. Interestingly my results on the road have been a lot better than my home results, where I keep drawing games. I'm finding it rather tough to keep a clean sheet but my set up is quite attacking so not really surprising.
Topped my CL group comfortably and my PL form is PLD 15, W9, D5, L1, F41, A21, which has me top of the league.....just. I pretty much dominate possession (60% plus) in every game I play.
CCC's still seem to be reported incorrectly (or not shown correctly in the ME). Apparently in my 6-5 victory over Chelsea I only had one CCC. The problem is three of my goals were tap ins, and Harry Kane missed two absolute sitters (even the commentary said it would've been easier to score) so how that equates to only 1 CCC is beyond me!

Still very early days for me but I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm finding it a tad too easy but then again I am playing as Spurs who finished 3rd last year so are pretty powerful this time around. And I've only played three competitive matches so it could all change! (Beat Man 4-2 at home, and Southampton (3-0) and Liverpool (3-1) away from home). Looking forward to getting started in the Champion's League.....
Biggest gripe I have is the ratings/stats not reflecting what I see in the match engine but this is something that has been happening for versions now so I guess I'll have to wait until the match engine is completely re-vamped to fix it. I just personally witnessed Alderweireld make four absolute defensive howlers against Liverpool and pick up a 7.6 rating. In reality each of his howlers let Liverpool through with great chances to score but fortunately Firminho missed an open goal and Strurridge couldn't hit a barn door. Interestingly it states that Liverpool had three CCC to score in the match but visually they definitely had more than that!
The other issue I have is that you still need a ridiculous amount of coaches where most Premier League teams in real life only have three or four. But again I appreciate that is probably a massive change in the game as its been that way for a few versions.

He's doing OK for me. Broke Clive Allen's record of 49 goals in the first season (scored 52). Second season hasn't been great as his morale is low due to me turning down various bids from PSG. Started the season off not scoring, dropped him for a few games and since then he is scoring on a fair regular basis.
Strikers seem to perform much better this version if paired up front with another striker.
