  1. I received the message again and checked the contract status of the three players indicated - the contract status had gone blank!  I reset their contract status to full-time again.  I have noticed some odd behavior in this version of FM with regards to contract status so if this continues I may need to report a bug in the game.

Have you checked to see if any of the players are on Youngster contracts for the younger players? They might not be on full-time contracts if so.

Thanks for the suggestion but all of the players are on normal full-time contracts.  In fact, MLS does not have the concept of youth contracts like other leagues.  The players in question are fairly young so perhaps FM gets a bit confused by their age despite them being on full-time adult-level contracts.

  3. In the periodic advice from my staff on the development of my players I sometimes see the statement "needs to train full-time".  I can think of no reason for this message as the players are all full-time first team players on the same schedule and intensity as the rest of the squad.  What does this mean?

  4. I was having problems with the graphics as well, and my rig is a gaming-oriented performance model with a performance video card and plenty of video memory.  Eventually I discovered that my came configured with two video drivers, an integrated driver from Intel, and my Nvidia driver.  Then I learned that Windows 10 allows us to customize which video driver is normally used for any specific application (display settings -> graphics settings).  Some systems are configured with two drivers, one for low-power mode (such as laptops), and one for high performance.  Once I set FM to use the Nvidia driver my graphic quality improved considerably.  Don't know if you are having the same problem or not but perhaps someone else has the same situation as I found.

I just wonder, has anyone played with this database but increased the USA youth level stat(think that is what it's called?) ? I just wonder what would happen if USA was producing more great players in this game, if MLS would increase it's level or if all the players would just leave for Europe...

Also I have wanted to do MLS saves, but in previous games I have always given up since it becomes to easy when the AI managers struggle to build teams with all the rules in MLS. So I guess  more people in here play in the MLS, what is your experiance with this in FM 19?

I have tried various things to make MLS teams more competitive relative to Mexican teams, for example.  There are some roadblocks:

I tried seeding academy teams with some talented players, using the editor for example, but the MLS teams don't seem to sign their academy players.  On the other hand European teams sweep up talent from the US academies like a vacuum cleaner does dust.

Next I placed talented academy players on the parent team myself, using the editor.  Some teams simply waived them, and a few teams kept them on for a few years.

With salary caps and profit minded boards MLS teams sell talented players to Europe rather than keep them long-term.  Mexican teams build up their rosters and seem to retain talent better than MLS teams.

So, in competitions it usually ends up that MLS teams beat the minnows from CONCACAF, but usually lose to Mexican teams.

  6. First off, kudos to the team for releasing the official game on Thursday (here in the US).  I decided to give it a go to see how the performance was because I was unhappy with the beta.  The performance is still not as good as FM 2017 but if I am patient it is tolerable.  However, there are definitely some quirky areas.  For example using the in-game editor on staff is very slow and looks like the font doesn't fit with the editable spaces.  I also notice various database omissions for North America.  For example, I was examining Cuahtemoc Blanco for a possible coaching or scouting position.  The database did not reflect the fact that he played in MLS for several years and did not reflect that he would at least have had knowledge of US players.  Looking at Victor Ulloa I see the database ignores the fact that he was homegrown by FC Dallas in their academy.  I was hoping to find the kids from the US U17 national team that went to the recent U17 World Cup quarter finals but only found some of them.  I used the in-game editor to modify an existing player into Josh Sargent, a key member of the U17 team and now called up for a senior team match against Portugal.  However, the in-game editor now does not seem to have any way to change a player's appearance. so Josh, who should have bright red hair, had to settle for brown. I'm sure that over time many of the other small quirks will be documented, and hopefully addressed, but for now I am satisfied, assuming that improvements will be coming.

  7. I've waited impatiently for a month or so for FM 2018 prior to starting a new long-running save.  I've tried the beta but at this point, with only a few days to go before the official release, I'm pessimistic that the game will be in shape for me to use.  Even after the recent updates the performance is still unacceptable, the game crashes every time I exit, and the scouting UI is highly annoying.  Since I've already purchased the game I'll monitor it under the impression that over time many problems will be corrected, but for now I'm sticking with FM 2017.

  8. There are many things I like about FM2018 but I suspect that at least the beta has some performance issues.  I decided to try the beta by playing FC Copenhagen.  When the game goes from one day to the next it often simply stops, sometimes for minutes at a time, before advancing to the next day.  I noticed that in particular September 14th and 15th caused the game to stop for several minutes.  I play with several leagues enabled and a large database, but even so the game tells me my performance should be "two gold stars".   To compare I decided to try FC Copenhagen on FM2017, also with performance at "two gold stars", and I do not see any noticeable performance lags.  Sometimes I play FM2017 with one and a half "gold stars" of performance and never see performance issues, although on January 1st the change of dates does take a bit of time.  I can forgive the game for perhaps being a bit hung over on that date, but with FM 2018 the frequent performance lags may prove to make the game unplayable for some people.  My computer is fairly new (intel core i7-4790 CPU at 3.60 Mhz, 8 logical processors, 64 bit Windows 10, 24 GB RAM, terabytes of free disk space, OS running on  SSD, AMD Radeon R9 200 video card with 2GB memory), and again, FM 2017 runs MUCH better than FM 2018 using identical game setup.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? I've run multiple tests now and I've simply not come across it.

Does it matter which database we load with this update?  I don't recall whether I used the original FM 2017 database or the updated one.  Also, I made a copy of your mod and then made a few tweaks to FC Dallas to reflect roster changes.  Perhaps I inadvertently affected something else although I don't recall touching anything other than FC Dallas.  Anyway, if nobody else is seeing this problem then good since it is a nice mod to the game.

I have never had that issue and played the Club World Cup multiple times. If you're using a custom DB file for the "FIFA World Club Championship" then there could be a conflict.

I went back to an older save and reran the game.  Still no prompt.  I checked the ingame competition rules which stated that I should register the team on November 27th and there was no prompt on or around that date to register.  So, something is amiss, and no, I am not using anything else that modifies the database.

  11. Playing as FC Dallas my team was eligible for the FIFA World Club Championship but I had to forfeit because no player registration prompt came up with the result that all my players we ineligible.  I checked my log to ensure that I didn't simply overlook something but I saw no prompt for registration.  Normally things that require a response nag you but that didn't happen either.  Was this an isolated incident or has someone else noticed this?

How do u go about doing that

If you have the in-game editor:  at the top of the screen click on the world icon and then select the country you are interested in.  Once that is done invoke the in-game editor, then "edit nation details" then "generated players".  This setting affects the PA of new players.

If you don't have the in-game editor then you would need to use the database editor and modify the download.  Each country has a "generated players" setting so change it to what you want.

  13. I just started a save with this download and am enjoying it so far.  I play with my normal club team and as the US National Team coach. In checking the US player pool I noticed a rich supply of young talent (for a change), so I decided to see what the generated players setting was for the US.  As much as I like the idea of super talent coming in all the time I decided to tone it down to be comparable to Germany.  Other players may want to consider this as well, but on the other hand....   :)
