  1. Im going to add to this now as i want to compare 2 saves ive got here - One is on Mozza's independent Scotland Database (steam workshop) so unsure if thats a factor. the Other is my glory hunter with where i started with Union Berlin.

Save 1 - build a nation i started in 6th tier of scottish football, resigned after like 10 games got a mid table job in 5th tier before getting a tier 4 promotion job. Back to back promotions via title wins before leaving for a midtable spfl prem club. Second season there we'd got 2 runners up in cups and a 2nd place league finish I was getting job offers from Man Utd and Newcastle. We won league and Premier Sports cup season 3 and spfl title, got offered real madrid and Rangers job - i accepted the latter with it being a build a nation. Starting rep Sunday league no badges

Save 2 - glory hunter started with union berlin, Season 1 semis of pokal and Europa Conference 5th in league, season 2 4th in league and quarters in europa league. Season 3 3rd i league pokal runners up and cl quarter finals. Season 4 pokal winners third in league and quarters in cl. - After winning pokal i got my first job offer at monaco which i accepted. Starting rep max and all badges

Which of these 2 cvs are better - id argue save 2 should be opening doors, yet a scottish league 2 and 1 win is getting higher weight in getting job offers. Im getting offered jobs in save 1 i couldnt even get an interview for in save 2 - the basis SILVERWARE. Is Winning Scottish league one and two actually more impressive than what i did at union berlin - that summer monaco was the only "top team" to actually offer me an interview too, rest were still declining due to my lack of silverware.

This for me clarely highlights this is a major bug

Generally in game you'll get better reputation for winning trophies, significant achievements (such as promotion) and for winning individual awards.

Overachieving, qualifying for Europe and reaching later rounds of competitions help, but won't do as much for your reputation across the game.

And I accept thats valid, my point is right now theres too much a weight on this. I think a manager whos taken a relegation expected team to champions league latter stages would be getting offers. We finished a point behind dortmund last season in third. Fighting for second again season 4. I cant even get job interviews - this is also starting on highest rep. A west ham side that got relegated to championship refused me even an interview on this basis.

id suggest consistent overachievement would be worth more than winning a trophy especially when you see the gap between Bayern and the rest in the league. The full reason for not even getting interviews was lack of silverware. Thus even a side just relegated are wanting a manager with a history of silverware to come in and wouldnt even interview a someone whos consistently overachieved on a mid table/lower end budget. Given we've made deep runs in these competitions too its not a one off. Essentially theres been a 90 min window that either means loads of job interviews or none. And that IMO would suggest the system is wrong.

  3. I'm not really sure where to post this. But here goes. I feel when applying for jobs clubs are looking almost solely at what player has won.  In a recent save i started i started a Glory Hunter with Union Berlin. Now we know how strong Bayern are this year, and rightly so. I'm now into season 4. And this is whats prompted me to post this.

My record at Union Berlin is as follows.

Season 1 - 6th place in Bundesliga, Semis of Pokal, Semis of Europa Conference.

Season 2 - 4th place in Bundesliga, Quarters of Europa League, Pokal Third Round (Drew Bayern Away)

Season 3 - 3rd in Bundesliga, Quarters of Champions League, Runners up in Pokal.

During this time applying for other jobs I've had 1 single interview. Any other jobs (even a job like Villa/Leicester) are stating while they view me as a good candidate my lack of silverware puts them off (all bar spurs have said this, their reason was my entertaining football i played). So what we're saying is change the results of one 90 min game (the pokal final) I'm open to interviews with top clubs. But without that I'm not even open to any mid table clubs.

I struggle to believe this is how football would work in real life. We see all the time young managers who're showing strong signs of progress getting bigger jobs regularly.

  4. I've been advised from Scotland thread to post this here. This may effect other leagues but I'm unsure.

Brexit doesn't seem right in Scotland. Obviously this is very hard to get information for and is very up in the air so respect you guys doing your best but as a passionate FM and Scottish football fan I want to help out where I can.

Brexit is obviously fixed and comes in on 1st January. That causes squad registration and work permit changes the same as in England.

This is where I'm having issues. In Scotland the SFA run work permits, we have appeal pannel etc. I'm aware was talk of FA getting control of all home nations but this was strongly opposed. Further information on this is again extremely hard to get and we know the FA are much more likely to take a hard stance compared to the SFA. For example there's not a single player in Scotland who would pass FA work permit rules at time in arriving at Scotland, be that EU or non EU based.

The squad registration has also caused a game breaking bug aware from the Scotland thread a solution has been found and that's awesome news. However I really question why it comes in, in Scotland. This is a pretty huge rule change to come in mid season, and as far as I'm aware - and the game would suggest there's no squad registration at the start of the season and no spfl vote on a change in this to my knowledge. Spfl votes are extremely hard to push through. Infact of all the major ones in the media this year I believe only 1 has passed even that in contraversal circumstances. 11 of the 12 premiership sides would need to vote in favour of this change for starts. Fuelled across leagues with self interest I couldn't see those with larger sqauds agreeing. And those in the lower leagues I doubt would deem it necessary but league one/two voting block seems to oppose anything that won't remove the league two relegation playoff.

I know Brexit is a very hard thing to know. I just want to help best I can and have open discussion I apologize if my post comes out incorrect I try to be as polite as possible when I bring these things up.

We have made some changes to registration dates in Scotland for the full release, but I will look into this particular issue to check nothing is still awry.  Thanks.

On this is there actually expected to be a mid season change of rules to bring squad registration in like this in real life? The Whole Brexit matter and how its effecting the Scottish leagues does not seem right.

Work permits are handled by SFA - but post brexit we fall to the FA rules? I know this was discussed in real life but we also know the SFA supported by welsh and northern irish counter parts and the premier league strongly opposed.

A squad registration that isnt there suddenly pops up, this again doesnt seem right and of the several SPFL votes this year, only 1 has passed even that in controversial circumstances. Are the clubs with the larger squads likely to agree to this - needs 11/12 SPFL top flight clubs to agree for example, which actually means both old firm clubs who have large squads have to agree. And to come in mid season seems very odd.

Im glad you guys have found a fix for current issues, but as someone whos passionate about FM and the Scottish Game this just doesn't seem right.

Here's one. Not sure if it's a data issue right enough... it appears the registration window for League 1 opens on 3rd January, but it makes all my players unregistered on 1st January. Now I've got a game on 2nd January and don't have any players registered, and won't let me register because it's outwith registration window... Tried holidaying past date and game but playing with gen'd players means a 3-1 loss to Dumbarton, after going season until now undefeated, so quite miffed at it.

this is being caused by brexit, I asked earlier in thread, is this rule change actually happening? seems very unlikely to me. although not fully clued up

All you need to do is quote the Daily Mail and you have the full set :p:lol:

I do understand where you're coming from regarding Dembele but we're in a difficult position as we've been here before, if you've been around the research as long as I have  with Feruz, McGeady, MALONEY, where they all broke through at Celtic as superstars and we were getting pelters and petitions for our sacking for not giving -9s, -10s . And as their careers panned out, they never did reach the highs that a -75, -8 PA would give, never mind a -9 or 10, so in cases like this, where we do maybe have the next best thing coming through, we still need to look at what's been before and try to reign in any hyperbole. The PA he's got just now could again, see him become one of the best prospects Scotland's had, if he reaches his full potential in game and as he's only 17, there's still scope where we could decide on upping his PA in the future if he does start looking the super-superstar folk think he may be.

Hope that makes sense and reasonable

Its a very hard one for you guys. Adu and Samba are basically memes these days. While im sure many (and i include myself in this over the years) where players at the old firm in particular (im sure some lads at other clubs caused a stir aswell) seem underrated. This year I can only talk for Rangers, but the youth there seems very fair. CA looks like its taken a bump from the challenge cup run which means many of the players are on the fringes of the team, which it sounds like could be the case in real life. But none jumping into the team either.

PA wise I only ran a season so Id be going off staff i usually wait for pregame editor to discuss but again most seemed very fair at the moment. Robby McCrorie probably the only one I thought - is he really looking like a player who could replace McGregor short or long term as hes expected to in Real life, although to be honest I'd have absolutely no idea what researcher would be looking after him with Rangers, Livi and QotS all candidates. It could be a minus potential ive ran a lower end but id question him still being on minus when hes now had 2 complete seasons jumping the divisions of senior football via loans. Again this could be my staff not rating him correctly however so without pregame i cannot come close to a fair discussion on this.

Just for record id be hoping for a PA in region of 140-150 PA for Robby.

Well, maybe I am using the very respectable  Sun Newspaper to back up my point?  :D I am not btw.

I am sure there are reasons he has only played a hand full of senior games.  Some of which could be:

1 Being he is a small 17 year old in a physical league. Which might only damage him.

2 Celtics terrible start to this season has meant Lennon cant risk giving him game time

3 He is out of contract at the end of the season so there is a chance he will leave us.

I wonder if he does leave Celtic at the end of the season to join a club in a big league then will FM22 have him with a much better PA?

if im right and he was -85 that means 3 pa windows higher. all 3 of those are big windows. what pa are you requesting specfically and on what basis? much higher and we starting to discuss messi level potential, messi was in the barca side at 17

I know we had this discussion last year too but Dembele's PA is not high enough in this game. The world is at this guys feet.

i really wouldn't use FIFA as a benchmark for evidence. Ill guarentee you EA put alot less time into their research of ratings etc than the lads who youve brought this too. Im sure the Celtic researcher would probably be open to a debate on dembeles potential, which im sure last year was -85 although not certain and my fm20 pregame editor wont load, but that potential bracket puts him as the best youth prospect our of Scotland in my memory, better than the best Gauld, Gilmour, Robertson etc. And amoungst some of the best young players within the game. He might even be top 10 if he pings the top end of a -85 load up. But again maybe not because FMs database is much much larger than that of what EA are offering.

  10. Sorry I don't have a save that would cover this situation - I wouldn't even know what point would be required so ill try explaining in detail to help recreate.

Barcelona summer window between seasons 1 and 2.

List several of the high earners offer them out. Few go.

Coutinho requests compensation of around £15m I accept.

Coutinho, Griezmann and Sergio Busquests all decline moves. No further interest still listed I do not add them to my squad registrations.

before first game team call me to a meeting to let Coutinho leave, since initial accepted bid there have been no further bids, and no interest.

after second game same incident but with Sergio Busquests.

None of these players wanted to leave initially and I failed at persuading them so maybe my fault but would seem more likely players angry over me forcing out rather than letting them go and would be way before now.

Firstly, like all new signings Calvin Bassey will be reviewed fully for the January update once he's (hopefully) had the chance to play a number of games. He's not played much yet but I do like what I've seen so far.

Tavernier should be very strong going forward and comfortable defensively for the level he's playing at. As much as his performances have improved so far this season he was still at fault for quite a few goals last season, especially in the games against tougher opponents. Young Boys away springs to mind. Given the number of options England have at right back I can't see Tavernier getting the call. There are many younger players playing at a higher level right now. England are not exactly struggling in that department. If Tav was 21 and performing like this then you might have a point but I think that ship has sailed.

Thanks for taking the time to give feedback.

Tav seems about right having played almost a season. I stand by earlier comments where we can look at spread maybe knock crossing upto 16 and reduce somewhere else and maybe try get positioning to 10 altho I don't think I've noticed that too much in game.

Tav goldson and Kent all seem to be being watched by Southgate in my save but yet to get a call up... Which from media would appear to be about right, there or thereabouts if there's an injury crisis. I seen a post the other day that suggested if tav and goldson played in England they'd be full internationals based on this season.

I imagine him being a very hard one to call because in his day he's unplayable. But how often does he hit those hieghts but I also don't think it's a consistency, but rather when team around him is playing well he finds an extra 10-20%

The one consern I'd raise just now is helander. In real life he is an absolute rock (bar benfica) but it's all positioning consentration and awareness he is really not that quick. But stats wise he is fairly quick for a CB. Was managing average of 7.8 over a season till Feb when I decided 18m from China was more than enough even though can't get a replacement. He was constant motm in a team where the CBs basically sat on the half way like and don't think in any highlights he ever got beaten. I'd suggest reducing his pace slightly or maybe it's this year's match engine is kinder to slower CBs

Major bit of pedantry here, but just saw the "scored his first goal for the club" message pop up for Matty Kennedy at Aberdeen during a game. Checked his stats post-match and it shows that as his only goal, but he scored in the cup replay against Kilmarnock last season. I see the 19-20 Scottish Cup seems to have been wiped from the record in-game though, is that why his goal vanished?

Not a researcher but think only league goals count for that. I played Kai Kennedy at rangers he scored 4 in Europa League then 1 in league after said was his first senior goal

The current rules for work permits, transfers, etc, are on the Scottish FA website: https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/media/7038/uk-border-agency-gbe-requirements-men.pdf

In Scotland, for a player to get a work permit, they must:

    1) Only play in the Scottish professional leagues;

    2) Have played at least 75% of senior international team matches; and

    3) Must play in a national team that's in the top 70 FIFA World rankings

From what the rules say, it is the Scottish FA that has jurisdiction over providing certification for a work permit to be authorised by the Home Office, not the SPFL.

Yeah then after that we have appeals, which is how Rangers got Morelos - and Hearts got the Japanese lad from City on loan last season. Where other things are considered. Commerical or future ability or impact on scottish game. You are correct this is SFA run, the SPFL is mentioned in OP due to the squad registration which would be with them.

  14. Aware theres a brexit thread already but a read through seems to focus mostly on England and work permit situations.

Here I want to focus on the other home nations and the current in-game brexit rules. As the rules up to now have been different.

I will speak specific for Scotland, and hope others can shed some light on Northern Ireland and Wales where im less clued.

In the current brexit scenario in game the SPFL Premiership turns to same rules as the English Premiership, bringing in a 17 foreigner rule, and work permits. SPFL to pass this would need backing from the clubs, change in Scottish game is currently near impossible, to give an idea 11 of the 12 clubs would have to vote in support of this, is that likely top happen before January and what chances are such a big rule changes mid season? That in itself I think would cause a block in the votes.

The second issue of this is the work permit system turns to exact same as our English counter parts. Work Permits in Scotland have been different for years, just to clarify very few if any player in Scotland currently working with a Work Permit, or EU national would pass the FA work permit system - Morelos being the most high profile with one, Edouard also would fail English work permit system when he joined Celtic. This one is a little harder because there no upto date information I can find on it and was an attempt from home office to give these powers to the FA which the SFA, Welsh and Northern Irish counter parts (as well as the premier league) all opposed. I haven't been able to find the outcome of this so maybe somebody can help, but this no only means in Scotland we gain harder to gain work permits that no player in the country would be able to get we lose the appeal system which is the main route for getting work permits on any reason in Scotland.

The third issue is the "overseas" rule. This relates to players under age of 18 moving abroad technically a Scottish player moving to England and visa versa isn't overseas, but it counts under Fifa ruling. We've seen it in recent years with Rangers to use an example signing Rossiter, Windass and Aribo on what their clubs called cut price deals on the overseas ruling. This same ruling prevents under 18s moving countries, which was overruled in EU rules which would no longer apply. These rules are not applicable in game and would prevent in real life transfers of someone like Billy Gilmour happening.

I have reported some of this in the bugs form but from reply from the nice fella who replied is suspect its working as intended which would not effect real life situations

No idea, that's way above my station, but they do . Its an interesting wee insight into how clubs think, when you see what they come back with.

We are lucky though, the SPFL give us a lot of free reign, when you see what other licensed countries need to put up with.

Seems crazy but also glad they give free reign.

On another note might be data so putting here incase, ive raised this up in transfer section aswell. After brexit Prem went to a squad registration system, 17 foreign players in line with England. but also a requirements for work permits are still there and required. Seems odd that both are in play.

If i could choose Squad reg please, work permits in Scotland are always a pain haha

No problems bud, you responded way better than some of us *cough* @ATW *cough*  when we found out, as it makes us look daft . Iirc its the same with the Dundee Utd and Aberdee vice-captains.

I can imagine you guys take great pride in your work and for a fully licensed league (as far as i'm aware) would be extremely frustrating. But also I respect not your guys not at fault. And I think McGregor probably next best solution

  17. 17 hours ago, Giro said:

This unfortunately is down to licensing. Ter had Goldson down as vice captain, the SPFL asked for it to be changed to McGregor.

According to the news the financial state of Barcelona is much worse than this. They couldn't even spend €15-20M this summer to bring in Eric Garica from Manchester City. They were not even allowed to sign Depay from Lyon because they couldn't afford his wages. The association of La Liga stated that Barca already had committed to spend all the money that they were allowed to spend on wages. Because of this I believe that Barca should have even less money than this. And I think it's strange that the salary cap for La Liga and La Liga 2 is not in the game...

You could argue this, but the issue with Barcelona in real life, much like on the game is wage budget. And in turn squad depth. Now my example had a £50m sale of a first team player brought in a £8m similar replacement and 2 bits of depth for other positions for my total spend that season since i would include installments needed or addons around 30m. I also managed to sell the two auto listed players for a further £10m. But this makes no dent to the wage situation. Your sat with 3 players making up 2 thirds of the teams wage budget. None of these 3 are easy to move on, unless your happy letting Messi's contract expire, now you can give him a new contract which he's willing to take a cut, but not a cut to the level the board are willing to accept.

On top of that all these players on the bigger wages are aging the youngest of the big wages is Coutinho at 28, Griezmann is 29 and Messi on more than both combined is obviously 33. You previously mentioned a salary cap and as someone who will admit hes out of contact with the rules behind Spanish football, im unaware of this but it would suggest this is the blocker more than money at Barca although clearly in game they are leaking money faster than they can make, with the largest wage budget in the league.

How us as players, and even likely the AI will treat Barca is very different to real life. Would a player for example spend £55m on Pjanic in the summer over taking Eric Garcia for example. I think you make a good point if there is a salary cap it needs introduced but id suspect this isnt a database error. But I think from doing a season and a window with Barca, the finances are about right I'm having to sell to keep us on the straight and narrow, and thats hard because either no interest because of said wages or players dont want to go because of said wages/love of the club.

Hi guys, not a data issue but just in relation to people saying Ranger finish 20 points behind Celtic. I have just finished my first season with Hearts with Scotland and England loaded. Yes Celtic won the league, but by 10 points. Rangers were winning basically up to the split when they only won 1 game, hence the gap. Also for transfers, Rangers sold Barasic at the start of the season but seemed to replace him with a loan from Fulham. Celtic didn't sell anyone of note until January where they sold Ntcham, Ajer and Rogic all without replacing.

look at points tho again points for Rangers matching that people reporting this looks similar to mine where Celtic matches with a bad season but above 80 point too

One thing that we've forgot about in all the madness earlier, was that the data we're seeing and using just now isn't the data being used in the beta. Infact, the data being used in the beta is probably 2, 3 updates out of date. I've no idea what the cutoff for the beta was, so don't actually know if there were any changes to Rangers since, what they were, what not, so when I said that Celtic16's 134 and Rangers 133, that's what we have in the databse NOW. I obviously don't know if that's what it was at the time of the beta cutoff, it might be, it might not.

But the patterns we're seeing, I think it's safe to confirm that we aren't seeing Rangers finishing 20 points behind Celtic (watch that come back and bite me on the arse now ) in all our current testing. The database is a continual tweak until release.

    Hope I've made sense

This makes sense. I was just trying to add a sample to the list really to help you guys, I love the game and spend most of my time doing content on it based in Scotland (no promo) so if I can help make that the best I can I love to do that while trying to be fair. Some players I wouldn't envy anyone trying to put stats together for. And obviously others we all have our bias.

One thing I might highlight again. I had a load up last night just to have a look around Rangers and Jack showing as a BBM again. I dunno if this would be a data issue but certainly stats wise I'd think hes more of a DLP which would add with role I think he plays in real life, mopping up and passing calmly with odd venture forward. BBM just doesn't seem right for him. I noticed this last year too and this may have an effect on how the AI inparticular are using him? or his comfort in a formation without a BBM?

Mines ran with medium - top 5 nations, mls and china loaded and followed a similar pattern. points wise rangers finished on 75 after losing last 2 games, celtic on 82 which was obviously an under performance. So Rangers seen to be capping out at mid to high 70s based on several runs
