I want to check some things, but have no time right now. So just holiday test in this moment:
Season 1
Season 2 (all transfers by AI)
Season 3
Stats of season 3. No many cards as I predicted:
No league winners unfortunatelly, but Milan won two Copa Italia:
Any ideas how to improve this tactic (and keep defensive priority) ?
IF on the right will offer more penetration. AM, W and SV is already supporting attacks, you don't need an additional creator. Also, the AP is ball-hog, so will slow down your attacks.

How do you work around the fact that most teams in the game employ a formation with 1-2 DMS? I found playmakers in the AMC-position to get quite low ratings as they are usually marked/crowded out of the game, not really getting on the ball much. The only success I have had has been with an AM-A or a SS-A, but they are basically second strikers, so would not class them as a classic 10.

This is a great thread, I hope OP continues it.
Echoing this, hope there is more to come! Brighton would be a fun side!

Hey guys, I am back at the drawing board any suggestions for this kind of shape?
We used to be secure in defense but this year same set up but different results. Even same players a bit more stable if played in a mid-block with standard DL which we do mostly. The IW(A) has stay wider which works fine, last year I had two wingers. When the Striker is played as AF he scores more but we don't have the possession numbers we'd like to have. I like to build it up slowly carefully looking for the right spot. My midfielders are good passers and have all one-two trait. My wingers are really fast (ACC 14-16) the strikers are among the best in moving around (OFF). Defenders are mentally strong but our strengths are clearly in offense.
I'd like to have this 3-2 Rest defense (usually the Libero is on (S).
Our best player is him: Loric Kalala but I can't find the best position for him which is why he is not thriving. He's only getting better and better every year. .89 OP key passes/ Match 4 assists and 1 goal are not good enough.
Any suggestions? I've read this thread here on and on and tried many things. We're lacking final third passes despite having much time with the ball.
Who are they crossing to? Also, no aggressive runners from midfield.

Won the league and the league-cup first season. Varane was off during the jan. window, replaced by Geertruida. Also added Valentin Barco and Tammy Abraham to the side.
Clearout in the summer, sold: Heaton (released), AWB, Maguire, Lindelöf, Evans (released), Malacia, Casemiro,, Ambrabat (loan ended) Van de Beek, McTominay, Bruno, Sancho (loan with obligation to buy) and Martial (released).
In came: Fresneda, Antonio Silva, Marc Guehi, Lucas Gourna-Douath, Gabriel Moscardo, Pedri, Khepren Thuram and Savio.
Squad 24/25
SWK-A/S: Onane, Bayindir
IWB-S: Dalot, Fresneda
BPDR: Geertruida, Guehi
BDPL: Silva, Martinez
FB-S: Shaw, Barco
DM-D: Gourna-Douath, Moscardo
CM-A: Mount, Thuram
AP-S: Pedri, Eriksen
W-S: Antony, Savio

Crazy turnover, but just a fun beta-save.

I will defiantly accept anything close but feel like you can probably get a few extra if that was the starting bid.
FM is full of players who play the Bruno role.
Negotiated, so will probably accept, can get Pedri, Gavi, Simons or Even De Jong for less money.

I have seen people being offered over £200 million for Bruno in the second season by Saudi.
Just been offered £195 million for him, feels too good to turn down.

Any other formations you think would suit united with 2 strikers?
4-1-2-1-2 Diamond. Cas/Amrabat as a halfback would create a 3-man defense in possession, wingbacks high and wide, Mount and McTominay/Amrabat as shuttlers, Bruno as the AMC. Would leave no room for Antony, Garnacho or Sancho, but the former two could be retrained as PF-A/AF-A and Sancho would make a great AMC with his vision, technique, first touch, passing and dribling.

3-5-2 perhaps? Not sure United have good enough wingbacks for a system like that, but you can have Casemiro deep, Mount and Bruno in front and Høylund + Rashford up top, could make for a good counter-attacking system.

Ive noticed a lot are using Mezzala AT along with a Cms/BBM.
But I feel that its difficult to pinpoint what exactley the Mezzala needs to be good at. Sure, I can look at the role within the game but there are so many attributes taht are highlighted. I mean, is the mezzala predominantly a dribbler that carries the ball (touch, dribbling, speed), is he a playmaker-ish (passing, vision) or is he a player that shows up late in the box and smashed them in (speed, off the ball movement, decision).
Im using a mezzAT with a BBM and DLPd, balanced mentality and higher tempo. But I dont know how to recruit it properly.
What attributes do you hold higher? Is speed more important than work rate? Is passing more important than balance? and so on. What have you noticed to be key attibutes for that role?
Look at what the role is asked to do:
Gets further forward: Pace, stamina, off the ball, anticipation, work rate
More risky passes: Technique, passing, first touch, vision, composure
The role also gets in the box and a lot (and occasionally goes wide) so other important (but not vital) attributes would be finishing, crossing, and maybe long shots.
Traits are also important, so I would look for gets forward whenever possible/gets into opposition area, tries more risky passes, plays one-twos.
As for model players, think Bruno Fernandez, Kevin de Bruyne, Dominik Szoboszlai.1 -
Kane can play any role, I used him as AF-A, and he got 30 league goals in 32 apps last season.

Finished the first season with Tottenham and came 3rd.
Made no transfers except for Alex Scott, who went out on loan. Just about to start the second season after a busy window. Notable outgoings were Hugo Lloris, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Ivan Perisic, Lucas Moura, Joe Rodon and Harry Winks. To strengthen the squad I picked up Milan Skriniar on a free, Dominic Calvert-Lewin for 25.5m, Diogo Costa for 65m and Josip Sutalo from Dinamo Zagreb for 19m. In addition, Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevksi were made permanent. I have also decided to give Giovanni Lo Celso, Destiny Udogie, Tanguy Ndombele and Bryan Gil a chance to impress after coming back from loans abrod. Going into the season we are looking like this:

I played with Foggia before, and had Turati as goalie.
He was a great goalie, and if i should go for one of these i hade choose Turati!
I use Turati as a backup for Raja in the PL. He has been reliable for me. Top 6-side

Brilliant! Reminds me of the "where are the goals going to come from?" after Fergie sold Ruud in 06. As you said, it is not about one player but the whole system.

Hello. Thanks for your reply and suggestions.
Could you tell me why my current set-up on the right side is imbalanced and why Kristensen could be underperforming so badly? It will be useful to learn for future reference.
Because the gap between them is to big with the advanced player pushed more forward while the fb is more careful. If the FB overlaps you are creating an overload, making space for the IF to exploit. Risk Vs reward.
1 -
All of your players in the AM-Strata is being asked to push forward. If you change your IF-S to an IW-S and your right back to a FB-A it will be more balanced.

You need quite capable players to pull of a system such as this. You are basically trying to force turnovers high up the pitch and you are also trying to play at a breakneck speed with the ball, while telling your players to take a lot of risk, so if you give away the ball (due to high risk and high tempo) or the opposition beats your press you will concede big chances on a regular basis.

I play a simple 433 atm.
Balanced mentality: left overlap, right underlap, shorter passing, counter, distrib short kicks, mid block, drop off more.
(From right to left)
GK-D, FB-S, BPD-D, CD-D, FB-A, DM-D, MEZ-A, AP-S, W-S, IW-S, AF-A.
Really solid base to build from imo.

Just wanted to say thank you for a great write up! Made me realise I was trying to force the issue too much. After removing a couple of TI's my tactic has a much better balance to it.

For those playing with a 4-3-3DM what role do you use next to a Mezzela? Tried CM-support, CM - Attack, Roaming Playmaker.
Want to build in possession a 2-3-5 but the CM who plays next to my Mezzela plays too deep for the build structure I want to play with
AP-S dovetails very well with a mezzala.

AP-A maybe? Great dribbler, vision, etc. More of a pure creator than goalscorer, also suited to his PPM's

Have you thought of using an IWB on the left to cover for the CM-A or do you prefer to overload the left flank?

Man Utd - 25/26
Have just started my fifth season at the club. So far I have won the Premier League three times, FA-cup once, Carabao-cup twice, and the Community Shield once. Success in Europe has eluded me thus far, having been knocked out of the first knockout round and quarter final once each, and the semi final twice, so winning the Champions League is our big target this year.
Of the original squad, 15 remains, including seven academy graduates (Kambwala, Williams, Fernández, Garner, Hansen-Aarøen, Hannibal and Shoretire)
Kambwala:
Fernández:
Hansen-Aarøen:
Hannibal:
Shoretire (currently on loan to Rangers):
Notable transfers in that are still at the club include Tino Livramento (100m), Nikola Milenkovic (25m), Declan Rice (67m), Frank Kessie (43m), Jude Bellingham (100m), Benjamin Sesko (60m) and Yousouffa Moukoko (110m).
Of the original squad I have sold the following:
21/22: Tuanzebe (60m), Pogba (60m), Fred (27m), Lingard (19m) and Levitt (7m)
22/23: Martial (40m), Van de Beek (37m), Bailly (13m) and Pereira (8m)
23/24: Greenwood (73m), Lindelof (43m), Telles (40m), Dalot (40m), Mengi (15m)
24/25: Laird (28m), Amad (24m), Pellistri (24m) and Elanga (18m)
25/26: Wan-Bissaka (63m) and Henderson (57m)
Tactically I have settled on a 4-3-3, which quite unintentionally looks a lot like how I would imagine Ten-Hag would set up his side:
I guess the most interesting aspect about this setup is the the trio on the right (IWB-S, CM-A and W-S) along with the TI of "Underlap Right", which creates some beautiful link-up play and allows Rashford and Moukoko to flourish as goal scorers.
