That's a good point, but FM is a simulator, and managing a football team in real life is a very hard task. It's literally defined as a simulation game, meaning, it should resemble real life as precisely as possible and that should ensure that winning UCL in the second season with Partizan Belgrade (!) would basically be an impossible feat. If a person is not ready or capable of indulging in such an experience, they should choose another game instead of SI making this simulator easy and newbie-friendly. There's FIFA, FM Touch, eFootball, and other manager-type football games that are not as in-depth as FM.

For comparison, Microsoft Flight Simulator is probably the hardest game out there and it's a part of it. You don't see Euro Truck Simulator removing traffic laws or adding autopilot to accommodate new players. The game should be difficult just like managing a successful football club in real life and if there's a beginner who wants the football management experience, they should choose easier options (a different game or picking a strong team) instead of franchise fans making the game harder for themselves. In case they truly need to make the game easier, there should be a choice between an 'arcade' or 'real FM' mode.

I'm aware that I'm ridiculously good at the game, but as I mentioned in one of my previous posts, the game is notably way easier than before. I was just as good last year, but I had to work, plan, and fight for my accolades. There are so many reports of absolutely bonkers achievements during the first seasons which should be an indication that something is not right, even if they're purposely making the game easier for newcomers.

I'm like you that I've been playing for years and years and know I must be really good at the game.

The sad thing is, I don't even have to do 25% of the things that I could do (manage training, change tactics depending on opponents, manually scout, do set-pieces myself...) to absolutely overpower the AI.

And once you're ahead, with a half-decent team, even setting loads and loads of manual restrictions on yourself, like leaving all scouting to the (rubbish) AI, it's impossible to not just steamroll the leagues for ever more and have £1bn in the bank.

I'd love to know the rationale behind the decision to add face paints to manager customisation. Not only do I find it baffling that time was spent adding this - but that someone thought it was good idea. After all the criticism of last year, I thought SI would have steered clear of this type of stuff and focused more on noticeable visual improvements.

Me: "I play in a home stadium that only has one floodlight and it looks so unrealistic. Will it be fixed next year?"

SI: "Here, have some face paints for your manager."

Next you'll be saying lapel badges weren't worth it, either,

People saying the amount of goals makes the game unplayable is match engine related.

The Japan licensing issues are disappointing but seem like they are out of SI's hands and due to the notoriously difficult to work with Japanese authorities. Plus FM is entirely moddable so there will be a fix for it by the weekend.

I haven't played far enough to experience the squad issues and yes it's disappointing as someone whose lived in Asia for over a decade I was looking forward to an Asian journeyman career.

The interactions being fixed was also a headline feature with them saying they'd fixed them...and they are if anything worse.

But none of these things are game breaking they are all at best mild annoyances.

But maybe I've just gotten over my SI are useless angst when I stopped reporting bugs about 5 Betas ago because guess what those bugs I reported back then are still in the game...

I've even gone as far as to suggest that FM25 has the potential to be an absolute disaster with the move to a new engine.

Either way I'm loving FM24 even with its many faults.

I was thinking the same... if FM24 is broken and all they've done is added manager hearing aids and a handful of Japanese players what is the complete rebuild for FM25 going to be like?! :Bowen:

He literally had that as a release clause last season.

True, but Liverpool couldn't come close to signing him for financial reasons.

The finances in FM have always been terrible for big clubs, as shown by the Aresenal guy making 10+ major (and half a dozen absolute marquee) signings in one window.

I’m saying the information is known to SI, no need to prove to a random on the board. This has been a hot topic for the last 3 years now. They’ve made the necessary tweaks like intensity levels effecting stamina more, inaccuracies, AI management, etc. but until they fix some of the fundamental problems with the game, the AI will always be a push over.

    True.

I always get caught up in a debate with the 'I don't find it too easy, so you can't either' crew on here. I make it my mission to have at least one person say 'humblebrag' to me each year. My grandma would've told me to stop playing with my food.

Ironically, the announcement trailer for FM 23 was about all of the success players had with the game lol.

I guess it's what most people want, and that's fair enough, I think.

They need the masses to buy the game and a lot of people don't find it easy so I don't believe just upping the difficulty of the base game is ever going to happen. If they did, it would be a crazy steep learning curve for new players.

I'd just like to have a sensible chat around what is possible in terms of difficulty levels.

In all the 3 pages of this thread I've only seen one poster show evidence of their claim for the game being too easy while playing in the third division of the french league. The rest is just barking without even knowing if these people are save scumming.

If you geniunely find it too easy and believe the game should be made harder then you really should report it as a bug, upload screenshots/save file etc and show evidence of all the saves you've done for underdogs back to back promotions and winning the prem with liverpool city aresenal, spurs with a basic tactic on fm23. Shouldn't take you that long to do

SI will already have the metadata of % of players that win the league/Champions League with each team, and probably if some of those players are save scumming, so they'll know it's way too high, certainly for some of the better players.

I have no interest in 'proving' to people who don't find the game too easy, that I do. We're at different levels; it's pointless.

For me, this debate is about whether we want to do something about it, like virtually every other game does with difficulty levels, or not.

lmao you don't know how I'm doing on my save I don't find the game too easy or too hard it's pretty straight forward if you know what you're doing and proves to be a challenge if you pick an underdog. Just find it laughable that you play as Liverpool, win the league and proclaim you're some kind of master tactical genius at the game and that its too easy. May as well be managing PSG wini ligue 1 and say you are great at the game.

I actually create tactics for fm fyi

Let me try to break this down for you (again).

I don't think I'm a tactical genius, quite the opposite as the game doesn't need you to be. I start a game, create my own, fairly basic, tactics from scratch (just like you, well done) and then win a lot more games and trophies than I should be able to with the team I have.

Nobody on here is saying that Liverpool shouldn't win most of their games; of course they should as they have the second best squad in the league. But there is a difference between it being easy to win most games (which should be the norm with Liverpool) to being easy to win nearly all the trophies, which it obviously shouldn't be with any team. Example: City and PSG in real life.

And before you say, of course Liverpool win everything, they're OP in the game; that's what everyone on these discussions say every time one of the good players comes on here and says they're playing as Utd or City or Arsenal or Liverpool or Spurs or Chelsea. They can't all be OP, can they?

And I've played as underdogs and it's still really easy to overachieve (four or five or six promotions in a row).

I genuinely don't think you know the difference between how many games your team wins and whether the game is easy or not.

Prove such boast by uploading screenshots so we can believe you.

Mate, give it a rest. You obviously don't find the game easy which is why you don't believe it when people say they do.

You're not that good at the game. It's OK. There are lots of things I'm not very good at.

Aren't you the one who says they won 10 CL's on the trout on fm23. I will ask the same for you to prove such boast by providing evidence of this feat

Aren't you the same guy that asked me this last time and I pointed out that I'd actually written it was nine times in a row on FM21? So you've said it wrong twice now; nice.

And I genuinely have no interest in proving anything to anyone who thinks that making up achievements on a forum like this is something that would make me happy.

Tl;dr, you don't find the game easy, I do.

A shame to see the difficulty hasn't been addressed. Won the PL with Arsenal in my first season with 98 points.

You wouldn't believe me if I told you the personnel in my squad going into the second second, its absolutely ridiculous. For starters it includes Messi and Haaland..

I had the same in last year's where I won the league at a stroll as Liverpool (not that amazing) but then in the summer window I signed Haaland for about £50m and Mbappe on a free... didn't bother starting the second season :)

Imagine if Coca-Cola made a disgusting drink and expect the consumers to add some vanilla extract and sugar to it to make it better. I would lose my mind.

Or if some people said, can you make a separate low-calorie version for some of us, please. And then people jumped in and said, "don't you dare make a low-calorie version, I like the full-fat one".

You would then be expected to prove you prefer the low-calorie version and detail exactly how it would be made.

well that isn;t fm23 is it! So maybe you want to complain about FM21 being too easy.  We're talking about the current literation and you're here behaving like some kind of maths genius freak because you won the title with Liverpool who everyone knows are coded to be OP on the game. i can use default tactics, no transfers no staff upgrade and win the league with Liverpool on fm23 no problem, but I would be ashamed to come on here and shout out about easy the game is why crowing about how too good I am at the game because I won the league and CL with Liverpool.

I've put two-and-two together that a) the last 5-10 iterations of the game have all been too easy and b) lots of people that have played the demo are saying this version is too easy to conclude that this version is the same as previous ones. Would love to be proved wrong.

I feel like you're actually agreeing with me here that you know you can over-perform with Liverpool (or any team) in the game.

    Will you answer my questions:

    - do you not find the game too easy (far too many promotions for lower-league teams, for example)?

     - do you believe some people do find it really easy (and don't use cheats, downloaded tactics)?

     - do you believe, in general, when a product isn't fit-for-purpose for certain users, those users should not go back to the manufacturer and want to discuss changes to the product?

     - do you think that once a player reaches competence on the game, they should never be able to play with the top 4-6 teams in each league?

I'm genunely curious as to what it is that won't let you ignore something that wouldn't affect you.

Like bumping the attributes of the opposition players do you mean?

A background +1 bump to player attributes that I wouldn't notice in any meaningful way, but would just give me the odd extra headache to deal with? I can live with that, they do it in every other game pretty much.

Go on, humour me, answer the questions. Please.

Not sure stamping your feet until you get you own way is the way forward here, but you do you. People have tried to help you make the game harder for yourself, but you're not interested, so I'm out.

You're not out, though, are you, really? You come back every year when people legitimately state that for them the game is way too easy and you offer arbitrary, realism-killing solutions rather than letting those of us that this actually effects have a candid discussion about what could be done to improve it?

    Honest questions:

     - do you not find the game too easy (far too many promotions for lower-league teams, for example)?

Weren't you the one who didn't want to use the hundreds of in-game modifiers to make it harder for yourself because of 'realism'? Yet here you advocating for some sort of pointless bump in other teams attributes. Something that would unbalance the entire game.

Instead of taking resources away from SI to work on actual parts of the game that need improving, why don't you just use the editor to lower the attributes of your own team? Not any less 'realistic' then bumping the attributes of other teams, and to paraphrase yourself, the beauty of it is, it will only affect your game and not involve large parts of the game to be recoded just because you find it too easy winning the league with one of the best teams in the game.

But you won't, of course, you want SI to do everything for you.

Dave, SI make the game. That's the reason I want them to do it. That's how the consumer relationship works. Their product isn't fit-for-purpose for a (unknown) number of players so they should look to remedy that.

As for your solution, I'd need to constantly edit my team (every time I signed a new player, for example) to keep on top of it. If it was a fixed squad I had, I would very happily take that option.

For me and a lot of other players, the game being fundamentally unchallenging is the biggest problem. By far. Not bothered about making the match animations prettier or adding FitBits to manager profiles.

Show the screenscotts of you winning the CL winning 10 years on the trot and maybe you will have some credibility. Until then everything you've posted is hot air.

So you think I'm making up achievements to ask for difficulty levels which I don't actually need because I'm making up how easy I find it?

  18. 5 minutes ago, Dagenham_Dave said:

And how exactly would this work? Take your time here, and be very specific.

Oh Dave, you must be good enough to need a harder difficulty setting by now, mate? You've been playing for years, man. DM me.

It would work like this (and this is me thinking about it for all of 10 seconds)... when I play Arsenal, for example, for that game all their players' attributes are bumped up by +1 or +2 (maybe more for condition) for that match.
