  1. SG Sacavenense - Year 5 2028/29 Liga Portugal 2 - 6th Started the season out amazingly again, with wins against the later promoted, Tondela and Santa Clara and a draw against Alverca had us top a month into the season. It was pretty obvious at this point that relegation wasn't going to be a threat at all unless we had some serious injury problems. I never expected to be in the promotion race as I didn't feel like the squad was deep enough outside of our star players, but I was wrong. Our finishing had improved with only a -4 xG underperformance compared to the -11 from the previous season. We dropped out of the promotion race after a big dip in form mid season, which left us floating around the mid table and a late promotion push wasn't really on the cards until we really picked things up during the final month of the season. About half way through the season our star player Jose Gomes 25-A who at the time had 1.5 years remaining on his contract, had finally dropped all issues he had at the club. (I rejected a low offer from Augsburg who he wanted to join) After around a full season of waiting I was finally able to approach him to get him tied down to the club longer. Unfortunately, he wouldn't re-sign unless we got some better players. So now at this stage if we wanted any chance to keep Jose, we would need to turn our form around and catch back up to the promotion spots which we were around 8-11 points off of. We obviously weren't able to get back on track soon enough and now he will likely have to be sold this upcoming summer. Learned my lesson to include extension clauses in players I don't expect to become world beaters right away, as every time i did try to negotiate with him in previous years, he demanded a low release clause which now with him being unhappy for the past 2 seasons, and outgrowing the club in the meantime, has ultimately lead to us having to sell him, as even if we did get promoted with him next season, there's no way he doesn't get signed on a pre contract. Club The club have given me a new contract which expires in 2032 with a 2 year extension upon promotion. The board have invested a little more money to help with club debts, and prize/tv money removes around €1,000,000 of our debt. With Jose Gomes' upcoming sale likely to be at least around 1m, it should clear up our remaining debt, and I plan to request improvements in junior coaching and a new coaching license. Squad Squad Stats Full Squad Stats Individual Stats Transfers Best XI Youth Pretty ok preview Pretty good, nobody really first team ready. Top Rated Profiles Youth Spotlight Season History Manager History Next Season Preview Not expecting promotion, just want our guys to start developing to turn us into a ready team to achieve promotion and survive relegation the following year. I'm afraid of getting promoted too quickly and getting battered because we still have 1 or 2 4th and 3rd division quality players in our XI. Media prediction is dead last again, we will prove them wrong again. With Jose Gomes likely gone we have to hope our small amount of CM prospects can develop quickly or hope for another CM gem through the intake. On the bright side we did have our first player in any season preview Media Dream XI, our starboy Fernando Neto.
  2. SG Sacavenense - Year 4 2027/28 Liga 3 South First Stage - 2nd Championship Group - 3rd I've been very busy and couldn't find time to play in the last month so this is my first update since. Started the season out very well with 13 points out of a possible 15 in our first 5. Half way through the season it was obvious we'd make the championship group, we were dominating almost every game in every area, except putting the ball in the back of the net. We had only 2 games where we won by 2+ goals. I'm very certain that at least 10 of those unscored goals happened during the group stage, our finishing was going to be the thing to kill this team. 3 of our big stars Belarmino Valido, Jose Gomes and Flavio Ribeiro were garnering interest from first division sides and all wanted to leave, but selling them would just not be worth it. Clubs from the Spanish 1st and 2nd division were making offers, as well as a few clubs in Italy and Germany. They kept gradually increasing their offers and I was afraid that the board would accept any offer around 1M which would clear up around a season's worth of debt, but would not help as we have nobody even close to their ability in their positions. I figured since they were unhappy anyway, that I'd might as well change their asking prices to 100M to deter any interest. Not sure if it worked, but we luckily never received a $1M offer before the deadline. So the stakes were kind of high, Jose Gomes, the star midfielder wouldn't renew his contract and his contract was going to run out in 2.5 years. Not only did I not want to have to lose a top second division quality player, I definitely did not want to lose him for free. Another season in the 3rd division would mean we'd be in more debt so the chances of the board accepting an offer would get higher the longer we stayed in the division. The Championship Group came around, 10 points out of a possible 12 in our first 4, then things went downhill a little. A few injuries and suspensions lead to 2 points out of our next 3 games which put us out of the automatic promotion spots. Then, the youth intake happened...... and omg. Fernando Neto, 6'0 15 year old who immediately is one of our best wingers. And he 100% left his mark on the season and this save with 5 goals in his first 3 matches, the goalscoring we needed finally came through. His big performances along with a little luck and choking from Varzim SC meant we'd be playing in the promotion playoff vs Leiria, a team that was in the 1st division a season before, although we had beaten them in the cup 2 prior, but they got their revenge this year by knocking us out in the 4th round. This was our chance to set the record straight vs Leiria and earn that promotion that we deserved. Bad news meant we'd be missing some key players. Our first choice CB picked up an injury a the beginning of the month but was cleared to play 20 minutes in the 2nd leg, our backup CB was out until next season and our RB was suspended for the first leg. An early goal put us at a big advantage at home, they equalized 10 minutes later but we got it right back. The game was pretty even but I felt we could've and should've grabbed a 3rd. A 1 goal lead going into their huge empty stadium, we were favorites. I tried to control possession with a patient approach, no need to rush things... and I guess the team didn't get the message because a horrible rushed pass in build up lead to Leiria's undeserved equalizer 16 minutes in. Then we were awarded a penalty in the 60th minute which we missed and now we were in big trouble as Leiria scored off a corner 7 minutes later to take the 3-2 lead. We were now chasing the game, and in familiar fashion we were squandering chances left and right, until Leiria keeper, the man who saved a penalty 30 minutes earlier, Iranian international, a name I'm familiar with and a player I've used in previous FMs, Amir Abedzadeh passes it straight to our winger off the goal kick to pretty much relegate his team as we were now headed to a shootout, a few minutes after a huge costly mistake. I'm not sure if FM can make an opposing player nervous after a huge mistake but he didn't save a single penalty and we were awarded promotion in the craziest way that I've ever seen in FM. Club The club have allowed me to study for my National A license as well as giving me a new contract which keeps me as manager until 2030 with a 2 year extension if we are promoted again. Prize money from promotion was nice to help with our debts, hopefully we'll make some more money in this division. Opened a B club to help with the overcrowding in our only youth team. The board is willing to spend to help with our debts as well. Squad Squad Stats Very happy with the squad, I feel like we're in a good place to avoid relegation and remain as strong when our older players regress. Transfers Best XI Youth Didn't initially expect too much from the intake after the preview However the intake had something special... The previously mentioned Fernando Neto being the clear star of this intake but i like the profiles of some of these guys. More specifically, my fellow Canadian, Antony Halter. Top Rated Intake Profiles Season History Manager History Next Season Preview We're definitely better than the odds say, media prediction has us at 18th. Goal is to not get relegated, I feel like we can do that. Ultimate goal is to get José Gomes and our 2 other disgruntled players on long term contracts once their promises are done, I mean surely he'd want to make more than €160 per week and accept a new contract rather than waiting 2 seasons to become a free agent right? Well hopefully he does.
  3. SG - Sacavenense - Year 3 2026/27 Liga 3 - 3rd Division South - 2nd Championship Group - 4th We had a very solid start to the season which laid the foundation for our unexpected promotion push. We were able to control games against these top 3rd division sides which really surprised me as I didn't feel like our squad had gotten better from the previous year. There were only about two games where we were clearly second best. Every match was fairly even if not completely controlled by us. As a collective unit we played like a top 3. Liga side despite lacking the individual quality and having many players who are 4th or 5th division quality. Nothing too crazy this year in the Taça de Portugal, we suffered a 3rd round exit against 1st division side Casa Pia after going down 2-0 very early on into the match. Club The club have allowed me to study for a National B License which should be completed shortly after the beginning of the 2027/28 season. Unfortunately the club will not approve the creation of a u23 team since our balance is approaching -€1,000,000, which will result in our u19 team becoming overcrowded so we're going to have to look to the loan market to get some players the playing time they need to properly develop. Squad Squad Stats Many players from the first intake broke through and played a huge role this year. Ansu Camara came in and out performed both our 1st choice and 2nd choice CB while also continuing his insane development, to quickly establish himself as our new 1st choice CB. José Gomes came in and also out performed the players in his position where he also quickly established himself as another key player in our team as a BWM. picture shown previously Flávio Ribeiro began the season as our starting RB and performed very solidly becoming a major factor in our very solid back line. There is heavy interest from many bigger clubs for our star player Belarmino Valido, luckily we've got him tied down until 2031 so as long as our board doesn't accept any offers we shouldn't have to worry about losing him for another few seasons. Jose Gomes wants to play with better players so I promised him I'd sell him if any club offered €525k, I wouldn't accept an offer that comes in for him though if the board doesn't intervene. We have him contracted until 2030 and I hope we can keep up what we've done this season and get promoted before then so we can extend players like Jose and anyone who may want to play in a better division in the future. Transfers Best XI Youth The preview honestly looked disappointing, however I was holding out hope for a winger good enough to immediately replace our 3rd choice winger who would be leave the club on a free at the end of his contract. The actual intake was much better than expected. Disappointed with the poor personalities again. Mubenga is someone I'm excited about. I hope a year in the u19s with the occasional call up due to injury, will help him develop enough to be our 1st choice off the bench at CM. Bruno Azevedo will join the 1st team as our 4th choice winger. Best Intake Profiles Season History Manager History Took home the 3rd division Manager of the Year award, hopefully there will be many more MotY awards to come.
  4. SG Sacavenense - Year 2 2025/26 Campeonato Nacional D - 2nd Promotion Stage - 2nd Started the season out really rough, was sitting mid table after the first 10 matches of the season, even being level on points with teams in the relegation zone at one point. A lot of our better players from the previous season had started regressing and weren't performing at the same level as they had the season prior. Some had regressed so badly they played less than half the amount of games they had played the previous season. So I had to change the tactics up a bit, resorted to a high press and started playing more direct which lead to instant positive results. After the tactics change we went unbeaten in the group stage, picking up our first loss in 5 months in the promotion stage vs Louletano. We completely overachieved in the Taça de Portugal, reaching the Quarter Finals after knocking out a full strength first division side, Chaves and a full strength 2nd division side in Tondela. Shortly after the Chaves match, they fired their manager and offered me the job 😭 Club The club provided a nice injection to take our balance back into the positive while also taking out a 10 year back loan to help with debts. We also improved our youth recruitment from Adequate to Good, but no coaching license for me. :/ Squad Squad Stats As I previously mentioned a lot of our better players had regressed quite a bit... This lead to almost all our top rated players from our first intake playing for our first team at some point in the season, most notably, Belarmino Valido and Kurt Netzer who both started nearly every match. Transfers Best XI Youth Intake preview looked really nice The actual intake on the other hand... It's ok. Tiago Veloso and Fabio Dias will go straight into the first team next year in the 3. Liga with Dias in a mentoring group. Ruben Timoteo is good but we got a high potential GK last intake, would've preferred anything else but I'm not too disappointed. As for the rest of the intake, it's kind of disappointing, a lot of bad personalities and a lot look like if they are to be of use it wouldn't be for at least a few seasons. Best Intake Profiles Youth Joining 1st team next season Season History Manager History Next Season Preview Feel like we should be able to avoid relegation. Just have to hope we can avoid injury struggles as our squad is pretty thin and isn't very deep. I'm excited to use all these newgens on a frequent basis. Main goal to just not get sacked if we were to get relegated.
  5. SG Sacavenense - Year 1 2024/25 Campeonato Nacional C - 4th Should've went up or at least made the promotion stage but we struggled hard with injuries and a tough group which lead us to bottling on the final day. Fully expect us to bounce back and get promoted. Manager Profile Squad Very Very solid squad. The main core of the squad are in their mid 20s. Feel like the squad is good enough to achieve promotion and survive easily in the next division. Our front 3 are reaching the later ends of their careers and are starting to regress, 29, 30 and 30. Going to need to integrate my young winger Belarmino Valido from the intake and hope he can develop well enough so he can replace one of our key wingers hopefully as early as the 26/27 season.
