  1. As shown below, for some reason in FM24 it seems that a higher defensive line means higher OPPDA. In real life this would make sense, but in FM afaik OPPDA is essentially the real-life PPDA metric, rather than the real-life OPPDA metric. Is this something anyone else has experienced this year?
  2. Inverted wingers tend to run into the path of a pass rather than wait for it to come to them which i find quite useful. IRL wide wingers such as Saka will always run into the path of a pass.
  3. Basically just wondering whether it's possible to instruct the attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 to press on a specific side of the pitch and sit more in that area when defending. I've noticed in a 4-2-3-1 that the AM usually presses the oppositions left CB and therefore will sit in sort of the right half space when defending, whereas i'd prefer him to press the RCB and sit in the left half space instead.
  4. Very cool. I usually try and make a 4-1 attacking shape from the 4-4-2 but it is always a bit lopsided. With this it seems easier to fill all 5 channels as both strikers are already placed in the left and right half spaces.
  5. It's because you have players in the DM strata. If you want Trent to move inside more then move the Mezzalas into attacking midfield and Fabinho into where Mac Allister is.
  6. One way to do it could be to just play a 5-2-3, with retrained wingers as complete wingbacks on their wrong footed side. Obviously doesn't recreate the same off ball principles but the box teams mostly play a 4-4-2 off the ball anyway, not a 4-3-3.
  7. I feel like this is quite similar to how De Zerbi sets his teams up. The two central midfielders still come deep in build up despite not being in DM strata, whilst DLF and false 9 also drop quite deep. Both IWs have instructions to stay wider and roam from position, false 9 has instructions to move into channels and roam from position, rest of team have no individual instructions. I have tried the same shape with pure wingers on attack but they don't seem to push up as far as inverted wingers do, also pure wingers cross the ball way too much for my liking. The IWBs stay wide in build up and then invert to create the three in midfield with the mezzala pushing up.
