Issue Comments posted by Dean Gripton

  1. Thank you to everyone who has posted in here up until Release.

As explained earlier, the database for the Release was locked on 18th October. That is, before you saw Early Access. That date was out of our hands.

Since the 18th we have only been able to update major data issues that can be both easily changed in our 'dbc files', and also can be tested easily on all formats. So, we apologise for any issues that you have brought up that are still evident in the Release database.

We aim to fix as many issues as we can in a formal data update as soon as we can. That will include any issues already raised, and any that may be raised after Release.

In the meantime, your feedback continues to help us hugely. Thank you.

  2. Thank you for those comments.

I have alerted the Head Researcher for the Southern League of this post. It contains some helpful info, though it is too late to amend any of those details for the Release version of the database. Those amendments will be included in a future official data update.

Please add dates for any personnel movement, as the database needs dates to function, especially with the new gamemode worlds in FM24.

Individuals who are coaches at playable clubs (in FM) and players at a non-playable level (out of the box in FM) - they will be set as the job at the higher-ranked club. eg Henry as a coach at Stevenage.

There is not the functionality in the game to allow someone to work at one club and play for another.

Sheffield Wednesday. Hi Dean, just a question about the board expectations, which are Promotion to the Premier League in the 1st season?  Is that a bug?  The supporter expectations are to remain in the Championship. Surely even Chansiri wouldn't be that unrealistic? with a League 1 squad, massive debt and some dubious recruitment. Cheers.

PS Also I wouldn't have Liam Palmer as a Natural Centre Back, I know he and James covered there a lot last season due to injuries and did ok, but I still think he is a FB/WB by trade.

The board expectations error was down to the original ambition now having been updated. That was fixed after the deadline for the Early access database, though happily before the release for the release database! So will be fixed for 6th Nov release.

Season 1 - Sunderland, 2nd place after 16 games and apparently Dreyfus wants to sell the club? Only been involved with the club approx 2 years and majority owner even less and not exactly short of cashflow so seems a bit premature for a board takeover.

Apologies also if wrong thread didn't find one that fit perfectly :onmehead:

Dreyfus' Board Confidence was not set. That is now fixed for a future update. Thank you for reporting that.

  5. Our injury module is always open to suggestions of how to improve how we record injuries and player absences from the game.

That said, we do not detail every single possible illness or ailment that a human being can have. In some cases we have to select an "injury" which fits closest to the "injury" reported for a player. That is what we have done in this case, where the club have clearly protected the player's privacy with their vague statement of his precise health problem.

We cannot know how his illness will affect his recovery and return to the sport. All we can do is assume that he will return, fit and healthy, and then we try to predict a return date based on news reports  which can regularly be vague or sometimes non-existent.

I understand that you may have to follow the licensing agreement. Just encase it could change anything in previous versions of the game these other rivalries were listed and in our most recent match just a matter of weeks ago against west brom the club themselves described it as a derby day. I dont know who would have filled in that information as the club was undergoing a takeover but hopefully they can get this right for you and future editions of the game.

The terms of any such licence mean that, if the club do not list Trevor Francis as a club legend, then he doesn't get included in the game as a legend! Of course that's an extreme example, but with 72 clubs in the EFL, we explain what the three club favoured personnel panels means, and what we mean by a 'derby', and the clubs could see what we previously had set in the game for that data. Then they decide how they want their club to be represented at the Club Overview home screen.

I don't think that the timing of any takeover had anything to do with the info provided by the club.

Birmingham City - Training Ground listed as Wast Hills, but currently using EPIC in Henley in Arden, Warwickshire for the foreseeable :

    Cheers

That's a temporary move isn't it? For training grounds, we don't include temporary moves, as there is no impact in the game about the name of the training ground really. What we are interested in are the level of facilities there.

Birmingham City, currently renting stadium, we now own the stadium again as of July, and we only have used capacity of just under 20,000 (currently correct but being repaired) no mention of stadium repairs which are on going with a completion date expected in December, in fact the lower Tilton is reopening this Wednesday which will bump the capacity.

We are still waiting confirmation from the club and the EFL of the dates for the capacity changes.

We have the capacity starting at 19400 (figure given to us by EFL in August) and have estimated a return to full capacity by 31/12/2023, a reasonable estimate at this time.

My understanding is that SCL own St Andrew's. SCL are a different entity to BCFC. Therefore, the stadium is privately owned.

  9. There was an error in the database where a 'date departed' was added in both 2022/23 and the 2023/24 player history for this player, resulting in what is a cosmetic issue.

Thank you for identifying it. That errant extra entry will be deleted for the next official data update. We'll put a query in place in the database to check where this may have happened elsewhere and look to fix those too.

This will not affect how Caicedo performs in your save game.

Having loaded in a few saves, it appears Rutledge's stats randomly generate. Which would probably mean none or very few of his induvial attributes have been completed in the database.

Well yes, he's barely played any senior football at all. His attributes are set to generate based on his role, so that should make them generally fit his style.

This literally happened today. So, Powell not being at Sheffield Wednesday in Early Access is not a data issue, as it had not happened when the data was locked for the Early Access.

Powell will be set at Sheffield Wednesday for the next official data update.

Thanks for the response, but if that was the case why is Mikey Moore of Spurs in the game to name one as i have seen a few 15 year olds in the game.

    Mikey Moore isn't 15. He is 16.

Moore was 15 in July 2023, when your new season save starts, but he turns 16 before the end of the 2022/23 academic year.

We only include people who are first-year scholars. ie they left school in summer 2023 and started full-time scholarships at the start of 2023/24 football season. They will be the cohort whose birthdays were between 1st September 2006 and 31st August 2007.

Anyone born on 1st September 2007 and later is still at school. Therefore, they are still a schoolchild. No child of that age will be on a scholarship at any football club because they are still attending full-time education in the UK. And that is the cut-off we use.

Edit: Matt Neil beat me to it! Thanks Matt!!

If the source researchers use for information purposes is goal.com and worldsoccer.com then they shouldn't be researchers at all.

Especially when both websites provide no sources on their claims. What's even more a sign of incompetence is that this error persists for several years

For example from the very same goal.com article:  "

A loyal Red Devils fan 😈

As a teenager at Sporting Lisbon, like many other Portuguese kids, Fernandes witnessed fellow compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo succeed at Old Trafford under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson."

Bruno arrived at Sporting as a 23 year old.

"There is some connection between Fernandes and the number eight. The deceased father of Bruno once wore the jersey while he was a player, and Fernandes even alludes to the number eight as his "lucky number." "

Bruno's Dad is alive and well 😂

The person who responded to you was simply looking to see where the previous reference may have been found.

Do you know the reason his preferred club not been changed for a long time? It will be because, until now, we were not aware of the error. When we are made aware of an error, we amend it (if appropriate) for the next official data update or next version of the game.

Norwich City - Vicente Reyes contract states expires 30/11/2024 which does not sound right.  Below article states 30/06/2026.

    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vicente-reyes/profil/spieler/662744

Yes that is an unusual end contract date. Nov 2024 would have been his end date at Atlanta, and when he was transferred top Norwich that was not amended, in error.

It will be fixed for the first official data update.
