  1. A thread on making managers preferred formations more accurately represent the way they play in real life. Celtic - Brendan Rodgers 4-2-3-1 DM AM Wide to 4-3-3 DM Wide Currently on Brendan Rodgers has his preferred formation as a 4-2-3-1 DM AM Wide in FM24. This is still a valid option as one of his preferred formations further down the pecking order but in basically every Celtic game since he’s returned Celtic have started with a 4-3-3 DM Wide. Unfortunately Rodgers using a 4-2-3-1 DM AM Wide in game means that arguably Celtics 2 most valuable assets in the real world in Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley barely get any game time and are limited to sub appearances leading to eventual loans out typically a year into a save. A small change away from Rodgers’ Leicester formations would be welcome to more accurately represent how Celtic lineup in real life. Rangers - Phillipe Clement 4-4-2 to 4-2-3-1 DM AM Wide The same essentially goes for Phillipe Clement at Rangers. He currently has his preferred formation set to a 4-4-2 in FM24 however he has played a 4-3-2-1 DM AM Wide every game since he was appointed Rangers manager. Not only would this change more accurately represent the real life Rangers but it would also suit the squad more. The only player who wouldn’t benefit from this change is likely to be John Lundstram who would need to be tweaked to be more proficient at playing deeper in midfield. Dunfermline - James McPake This one is a tricky one to call. Currently James McPake’s preferred formation in FM24 is a 4-3-3 DM wide which is a formation Dunfermline are capable of playing and largely did at points last season. They have also switched to a 4-3-3 in games this season. However a step back up to the Championship and a long injury list means that Dunfermline have typically started with a 5 back this season. Most commonly this has been a 5-2-3 DM Wide but with the right personnel fit and available (particularly Matty Todd) the 5-2-3 looks more like a 5-2-2-1 DM AM. I would personally say purely based on how the season has played out in real life the 5-2-3 DM Wide would be the better candidate for an updated preferred formation. This change is perhaps not as needed as an update to Rodgers as Clement but it’s just a small suggestion to more accurately represent how Dunfermline have set up this season. St Mirren - Stephen Robinson 4-3-3 DM Wide to 5-2-3 DM Wide Last season Stephen Robinson typically set up in a 5-3-2 however for most of this season so far St Mirren have lined up in a 5-2-3 DM Wide. That being said with the recent injury to Ryan Strain St Mirren have reverted back to a 5-3-2. I personally can’t remember the last time Stephen Robinson’s St Mirren lined up with anything other than a 5 back in the league so a change to either of those formations would be a welcome update more in line with how St Mirren set up in the real world.
  2. As I stated the unlockable was at least visibly applied constantly. I did test unapplying and reapplying it and had the same issue. However I didn’t try this before I applied for the Regensburg job only after the application was sent so I don’t know if that makes any difference. Either way the unlockable works to a certain degree because I could get jobs at clubs bigger and in higher leagues than Regensburg but they weren’t expected to be promoted like Regensburg were.
  3. I bought the all job applications successful unlockable and have come across the issue twice that not ALL job applications are successful. The ones that are unsuccessful return the same inbox message: “The board decided against appointing you in part due to having serious reservations about your suitability to deliver the clubs’s vision for the future. This is mainly as a result of your complete lack of experience in leading teams to promotion.” Now I am only at the end of my first season managing in this save and I did not achieve promotion. However I am managing SC Freiburg II where promotion is literally impossible but I did also finish 2nd which was a lot higher than the expectations. For reference the club I have applied for at this time is Jahn Regensburg who finished 9th in the same league. Irregardless of my actual performance the “All job applications successful hasn’t done what it said it would. I can also confirm that the all job applications unlockable was applied the whole time.
  4. Thanks but I don’t need advice or an explanation, if you look at the thread I created I give you evidence that in most cases it’s literally impossible to sign players who require work permits and there’s no work around that by scouting or using the player search filters or even by asking the agent which isn’t even a feature on the Xbox edition. Yes you can the first 2 of them methods to see if a player is eligible for a work permit or not if you’re a club not based in Britain, but if you are it’s literally impossible to sign a player who needs a work permit unless you pay both the required transfer fee AND the required wage, I have tested this and I also stated it in my thread. This means that unless you have a large transfer budget you simply cannot sign a player who requires a work permit. Impossible for smaller clubs, impossible to sign free agents and also impossible to sign players on loan. There is no filter or method of scouting to get around it.
  5. Ever since the launch of FM22 Xbox Edition on console there’s persistently been an issue of work permits being rejected even when all the criteria has been met. This issue is most notable when managing a British club because you’re effectively limited to signing only British nationals or British second nationality players as any other nationality player will have their work permit application rejected even when offered the minimum wage required for them to gain a work permit. The only instance in which work permits are granted is when the required transfer fee is also met however this means it is literally impossible to sign foreign players for lower league clubs as they cannot afford the transfer fee and also makes it literally impossible for foreign free agents to be signed again even when the wage requirement has been met. I have 2 other threads where this issue has been brought up and one got a reply saying it’s a known bug and the Dev team are looking into it. That was in December and still nothing has changed. Many saves have been ruined and even more time wasted because of this game breaking bug that severely limits the experience on Xbox.
  6. I am also having the same issue and have done ever since the Xbox edition of FM22 has been out. Desmond I would really like to know the outcome of the dev team looking into the issue last December as this bug has ruined many saves for me meaning I can only choose certain teams to manage and certain players to sign if I want to have a non-limited experience. I appreciate that work permit rejections are part of the game but when every single application gets rejected it’s a bit of a joke.
