Is it possible to remove Northern Ireland completely and replace them with a new nation using Ireland (pre-1922)?

I came across a file on the steam workshop with Russia all moved to Soviet Union and it seems to have worked. Currently running it and have got all the way to 2032 with no issues.

Would reactivating the Soviet Union with all the Russian players, clubs, cities etc work? It's a big task, so I don't want to put in the time without knowing it would work.
