For all of you in this thread:

    - What was your save folder location pre 20.4.2?
    - If it's different than what we consider the default (C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\games), how did you change this?
    - The 'games' folder your files are currently in, are all files loose, or are they in an additional sub folder?

    Additionally
    - Can you please confirm what exactly your issue is now on the Public Beta (if you're not on the public beta, please follow the instructions above in the thread to try it) from the following:

Can you see files listed as Load Last Save via the main menu? [Yes/No)
When clicking 'Load Game' via the main menu, can you see your save games? [Yes/No]
Are you able to now save the game by auto saves or 'save'? - (so excluding the 'save as' option) [Yes/No]
Can you save when using 'Save As'? [Yes/No]

-My save folder's location have not changed at all since I initially installed the game.

-It is not different than where the default one is.

-The files are in additional subfolders created on the 'save game' screen itself by the 'new folder' button. The saves have not been moved manually or outside of the game.

My exact issues with the public beta:

Can you see files listed as Load Last Save via the main menu? No
When clicking 'Load Game' via the main menu, can you see your save games? Yes
Are you able to now save the game by auto saves or 'save'? - (so excluding the 'save as' option) No
Can you save when using 'Save As'? Yes

Okay we've released a public beta to try and address the problems related to local and cloud saves not appearing and/or saving. Details on how to access this below:

    - Open Steam
    - Go to 'Football Manager 2020' within your Steam Library
    - Right-Click on the game and select 'Properties'
    - Select the 'Beta' tab
    - Via the 'Select the beta you would like to opt into' dropdown, select 'public beta'
    - Click 'Close'

Would suggest trying as shown and let us know how you get on. Thanks.

Trying the game on public beta does not solve the subfolder saving issue for me, both from an existing sub or creating a new one. Save is also still not recognised on the start screen.

Can you confirm where your default save game folder location is?

    Is it here - C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\games

Or is it something different? If its different please let us know the exact location.

Also where is FM and Steam installed on your system? For me it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2020 - is it the same for you?

Yes that is where my save file is located. All the subfolders are within that 'games' folder, as shown here (the DHFC save file is a test file to see if saving outside of the subfolders work or not):

My FM and Steam are installed into the D: drive because that's where all the games are installed to.

If you save and exit, next time you launch the game does it appear?

May be related to the file being in a subfolder, but just want to confirm. Let me know, thanks.

It does not unfortunately. The next time I launch the game it still defaults back to the 'blank' start screen.

As for it being in a subfolder, I tried saving the game straight to the desktop (as in it creates the save file right on my desktop) and it still gives me the same issue.

ETA: I've played the game normally for about 45 minutes, including managing a match to completion, and as far as I can tell everything functions fine apart from the saving issue. This is one specific bug if I've ever seen one.

Edited to further add: Yes it seems that subfolders within the savegame folder itself is the issue! Saving outside the subfolder works perfectly fine. However putting it in a subfolder immediately presents the issue again (even creating a new folder with a fresh save doesn't solve it), so @Neil Brock the issue here is due to saving inside the subfolder, which worked fine before the update but no longer.

  5. Game loads in just fine, but upon loading the start screen does not remember your latest save file.

Loading the game manually works just fine too.

However, pressing the 'Save Game' button gives me the 'Save Game Failed' pop-up. Game can still be manually saved using the 'Save Game As' option with no issue.

After saving the game and quitting to the start screen, it still doesn't recognise the save file on the start screen.

Game is playable otherwise, though I haven't played far at all out of fear of crashing.

ETA: changing the save location does not solve the problem

I've captured some footage of this happening and attached the Streamable URL below (with loading and saving the game sped up due to it being a huge file).
